So I live on my own and have done for years, I didn’t really think twice about going on holiday on my own (plus 5 dogs!)

But what I forgot is that when you are on holiday you are constantly wanting to say ‘oh wow, look, isn’t this amazing!’ at new things!

So please prepared to be very very bored by a step by step diary of my holiday ?

We have arrived, the silence is magical (apart from stressed greyhounds squeaking ???) I had forgotten that Ace doesn’t leave home much and tends to feel unsettled when he is away from familiar surroundings ?

The lodge is just as I hoped, I’m pretty tired after a 5 hour drive (and Marty escaping at Tebay services.... heart stopping.... thank goodness for the lovely girl who grabbed his lead as he was having the longest wee ever on a handy stone!) so this evening is Prosecco and doing nothing. Tesco delivery between 7 and 8 (yay, food!) then we can slob around doing nothing some more ?

No complaints here..living in Italy I really enjoy seeing UK in all its glory.
That looks a lovely place and nicely furnished. That balcony looks a great place to sit with your wine.

It’s quite chilly here compared to Gloucestershire I have to admit - I’ve turned the heating on! The beech trees (my favourites) are going to be glorious, just the right time of year for them - I’m already planning next years trip!

Where in Scotland are you? We stayed in a cottage in Ardersier last year, near Inverness. We, and the dogs loved it. I keep looking at property for sale there now ?

Hope you all have a fab time.

although it’s just over the border it is amazingly beautiful - so different to England!

I see a fair few deer at home but according to the lovely Tesco delivery man tonight (OMG! Even the Tesco delivery men are amazing!!!!) I should see a lot more ❤️❤️❤️

Oh my God, Colin is growing like a weed! Hope the fresh Scottish air is soon making Ace feel better, and that Marty, and the rest of your gang, doesn't give you (or us) any more near heart attacks.

Looking forward to see, and hear, more from your Scottish adventures.

Welcome to Scotland Levrier. Can’t imagine going on holiday with five dogs! Two is my limit for holidays. Looks a lovely cottage. I haven’t looked up where you are yet but if you say it’s chilly you are not in the west. We are warmer than England at the moment.
Look forward to your exploits and photos.

Well I did say the holiday was all about relaxing ? - we haven’t been anywhere today, we’ve been chilling all day! The weather is beautiful ?

We did of course have to investigate the fully enclosed 18 acre wood.... I only walked about a mile, I think every dog did at least six times that! I’ve never seen all of them run so much, and they have been flat out for the rest of the day ❤️

The silence is amazing.... just jackdaws arguing and the beech trees rustling....

The view out of the front door this morning....CB3C54BE-F460-4A7A-93F6-E968B917DBFE.jpeg

Marty was fascinated by the birds?

In the enclosed wood - there are 5 dogs out there somewhere!

Lunchtime! (Colin had already finished & I’d picked him up to stop him stealing food from the others.... it doesn’t go down well!)

And then we slept ?

What a fab place to stay. I understand now why you could manage all five. Wonderful garden fencing and a safe 18 acres, wow! Quite fancy it myself and I am only up the road! Didn’t realise you were in Dumfries and Galloway. Mild and sunny here but a couple of short showers producing rainbows and then the sun took over again. Fine tomorrow too, hopefully Levrier.
You must venture out tomorrow and see the sea.

It is billed as being dog friendly and honestly it could not be more perfect, particularly for mad people like me with too many dogs! Each lodge is secured fenced with 6’ panel fencing and has a small garden area, then the wood is literally a few paces away! Each lodge has a padlock issued, so you choose a time when no-one else is in there and lock yourself in so the dogs can roam anywhere without any worry! It is deer fencing so I was a bit concerned that Colin might try and squeeze through, but he was far too busy chasing the others - the hounds thought it was wonderful ? I would have taken pictures but they were rarely in sight!

The plan is to go to the beach tomorrow, I’ve messaged my friend who lives in Castle Douglas to ask her which is the best one to go to with the dogs - I’m hoping it will be quieter now the schools are back and it’s mid-week, I’d love to see the hounds run ?

I’ll also pop and see Colin’s breeder this week as he is about 5 minutes drive from here!

I didn’t realise you were around here Chiffy, it is such a beautiful part of the world - I’ll will definitely be coming back here, it is so perfect for the dogs

Excellent pics to start my day..we are off to the Italian market.
Very impressed with the fenced wood ,it must be dog heaven.Your happy dogs look “dog tired” after their fantastic day, what could be better?
The owners have really thought everything out so well...I saw the sturdy gate lock and strong wood pole fencing no dog could get over or through. I would stay there too !

That wood sounds perfect, ours would go crazy as we can never let them off in an open wood.
Enjoy the rest of your stay and lots more pics please.

Well the weather forecast is nicer this afternoon so we had another wander round the wood this morning and will go to the beach this afternoon.... at the moment I’m waiting for the dogs to digest their lunch, and for Ace to stop bleeding ? His turn to cut himself when he was belting around in the woods today, of course I didn’t think to bring a dog first aid kid so he is wrapped in kitchen roll now!

What a wonderful opportunity your pup is getting to “run free” in a safe setting.
... it couldn’t be a better experience,to experience the woods so safely With his brothers.

re the sore paw..bandage the foot, put on a small plastic bag( eg poo bag) ,add a sock...tape up and Ace should be ok to run with the pack.

ps..I’m really liking black Marty more and more.....Colin may have some competition lol.
