Have a look around the Scottish Borders /Berwickshire too - some beautiful places (and our beaches are sandy rather than muddy ?).

Your mum would love it... Though I get that she might not want to move. The people are very friendly and it's very chill. Admittedly it takes ages to get anywhere, but it's so beautiful on the way that it doesn't really matter
