I had a shire called Basil, it means kingly one. He was a stubborn sob tho, one pushed out the stable wall scratching his butt so the roof fell on him!
I like Chancer too as my old horse was one and my absolute soulmate.
Apart from that either Brahms or Dexter. He is gorgeous though!

A classic grown up name like George or Geoffrey perhaps?

I might be inclined to try Troy - as I'm sure you will be using Oy a lot around him.

My ginger baby is Jethro. This was the joke name while he was a bump with Jed & Martha as parents. I was hoping for a filly and we tried out a lot of names but Jethro stuck.
