Faran has his saddle fitting on Saturday morning then hopefully a hack with a friend

Sunday I have XC with Zurich so this might be sugar or sh!t@ ?? he’s got a sense of humour shall we say

Time out from pre-skool for the two 3yo’s, one is being deposited at stud and the other is being transferred to the magic hill.

Farrier tomorrow morning, show jumping Saturday morning, and getting my new saddle on Sunday. It's been a long time coming!

Sounds like busy weekends all round!

We've got a pole work clinic on Sunday - it will be Chilli's first, although we've done plenty of pole work and he seems to enjoy it. We're in a group of four PREs, there'll be knees everywhere!

Other than that some hacking and schooling, and nervous nail-biting to see what the mechanic says about my lorry tomorrow...

Looks like we can get into the indoor tonight so helpful friend coming to insert sweets into Frank's mouth again this evening He thinks Big School is excellent because he gets to eat lots of things and everyone tells him he is wonderful. Hopefully do a bit of independent steering tonight and then we will be pretty much able to do stuff solo. This has not been a backing programme anything like the regimented versions we did when i was a lad, but there were folk on site every day then if you needed a hand and so it was all bish bash bosh, done and away you go. Been a bit tricky getting by without help and not having routine use of the arena. But Frank is Mr Cool so the dodgy continuity hasn't mattered.

So if that goes OK then we will potter along a bit more over the weekend, then visit the outdoor again so that becomes a normal working space instead of the Most Interesting Place to Look Around.

Q will just continue on his journey to civilised behaviour now we know each other well enough to get going a bit and start to work on his fitness. He has a physio appt next week so he might need a few quieter days.

OH is finally getting the lorry sorted so I can also see some loading practice for both chaps in the near future. Will be handing him spanners and bolts over the weekend i think.

We are at Aston on Sunday doing our first 80! Very nervous (especially after him being a pain to school yesterday - we have a last minute dressage lesson on Saturday so hopefully that will iron out the kinks) but I am also quite relaxed about it as I’ve got a bit of a dilemma at the moment.

Basically, our yard never has spaces come up, but I’ve been offered a space as YO will take her ponies home. I always said I’d have one last season on my boy before I passed him on but I’ve found a really nice horse that I like the look of so I’m contemplating a lot right now.

Continuing the sort through, keep/give away/sell/bin of the enormous amount of stuff you collect when you have horses at home for 30 years and there's no limit on space. 15 towels, just why?

Hopefully farrier Saturday followed by a lesson and then dentist on Sunday. Getting all the routine checks sorted ahead of competition season. I wish this wind would stop though, Ambers really, really good in hand I've spent so many hours working on it, but even she was a bit fresh onthe lunge last night! Some quiet insitence and we got it sorted.

Some exciting plans this weekend! And I'm glad to be able to join in! Bob is off on his first outing of the season, the OI at Weston on Saturday! Looking forward to it but always a bit nerve wracking coming back from injury!

I am off to Aston le walls for the 90 and absolutely bricking it. I jumped a good 95cm spread at the end of a grid the other day but haven't jumped a 90cm SJ round since October and I made a total hash of it.

If I can just ride Bog like I do in an 80 it would be fine, but I panic.

So going to try not to ride like a turd and do my lovely neddy justice, he is so forgiving!

MP so pleased to see you having something nice to play with. ycmb, I should be doing the same with all my kit, I got rid of quite a lot when I said goodbye to Mr B but seem to have got lots more for Rose. She is reasonably sound again and seems happy in her self but clearly the hock is not improving so I'll see how she is over the summer but she will never be rideable. Saddles, bridles, 3.5 lorry anyone? Fingers crossed, I am spending a few days over the weekend with my daughter in Lisbon so nothing horsey planned. Hairy legs defuzzed and instant tan applied just in case I get them out whilst we are away, they have not seen light of day since last summer and have not improved. Oh to have my young legs back!

Escorting nervous person out tomorrow morning for a steady hack.
Arena eventing clinic on Sat and saddler returning Sunday to check new saddle.
Hoping it stays dry and less windy than today (having got blown round my snorkelling hack this morning!)
Edited to add, off to local huge indoor arena on Tues for a shared jumping session with 2 friends, as there is arena hire most days over Easter as college is on hols.

Ooh nice. I am all finished by 11.45ish but I may stick around for food & to watch, so might catch you. Yeah we went last year to do the 70 and I thought it was a good place for our first 80 as small & flat!

Baby horse has a pole work/grid work clinic at a new venue on Saturday. We will just hack locally on Sunday as he then has a dressage lesson on Monday and his 2nd little dressage comp on Tuesday.

Holiday for 2 weeks for me!!!! Looking forward to much hacking!

Tackling our xc demons tomorrow. Well, hopefully I am exaggerating as really I only had the 1 issue last weekend with a run out and fall at fence 2 at munstead.

I’ve booked a solo lesson to see if we can practise our warm up, and jump all the course, and then I’ll decide if I’ll take B to their ODE in a few weeks time. Before last weekend I would have felt broadly ready but now I’m less sure!

If not, Steadier Big Brother Finnegan might have to make an appearance. He has been known to nap at the start of xc too but far more slowly and with advance notice, so I feel a bit better prepared to deal with that!

Someone was feeling a bit arrogant during our ride yesterday because a new jump course was put up and he thought it was for him ? however, it was a day for dressage work so he had to stop looking at/longing for the jumps and get to it. Today's ride was also good, and a few things are really clicking with him.

Tomorrow he has a trim, and perhaps a light schooling or lunge. On Saturday we'll do a little pole and jumping lesson with his younger rider, and probably hack or walk with the dog on Sunday. Trying not to let him get too fat going into grass/field season.

All in all, nothing exciting. Looking forward to some reports from those of you that will be out and about!

Hopefully, all being well, first lesson/ride/see a horse in four months on Saturday, and I cannot bloody wait! ?

May not seem like much to others, but when you go from being in the industry where even if you don’t ride, something will happen to fuel the horse vibes, to definitely not in the industry, it means a bit more. That’s if the breeches fit that is…

Good little egg tonight. steering is wobbly but he's a-ok with getting on and bumbling around. No helper for 10 days now so i'm inclined to just carry on by myself and see how we go.

Working Friday and Saturday but girls will work as normal. Headed out for a party at friends on Saturday as a teacher from the school I worked at is leaving after 23 years, so we are having a little send off for her, with some teacher friends past and present.

We're off to our first overnight dressage championships (we're doing novice)! Should be fun, I've booked a stable so pony can feel like a Grown Up Dressage Horse instead of a free range paddock vacuum cleaner.

Had a competition on Sunday, first official Elementary and was super pleased and won a blue ribbon and a bottle of wine despite some expensive mistakes (from me!). Good pony

(Don't mind my face, I came straight out after night shift to plait and ride, 22 hours of no sleep but it was worth it!).

We are going to the cold water spa - that’s it ? went last night and going again on Sunday. Horse was quite tolerant of it, a bit confused but generally compliant!

You say nothing horsey, but the Portuguese School of Equestrian Art is in Lisbon and is amazing, you should definitely go! You get a yard tour and get to watch them school the Luso's.

Thought twice about sharing this…I don’t think my confidence has been too badly dented from last weekend’s fall, but it currently feels like my enjoyment has been. I’m off back to munstead this afternoon for a solo xc lesson. Previously I’ve been more excited and not that nervous about our outings, which is unusual for me, in a good way, but now I’m feeling decidedly ‘meh’ and a bit flat about it. Not enough to cry off but enough to feel a bit unsure about it.

I suppose that’s inevitable but I might adjust my plan (which was to treat it almost like a comp, do the warm up and go straight round) and instead take it slow and see how we go. Hopefully, I can reinstall some of that excitement and enjoyment and regain some trust…

In theory I know that progress with horses is always up and own, and you have to get over various issues, but putting that into practice is always the challenge!

My daughter has Easter Pony Club Camp this weekend, so looking forward to that. I am hoping the weather improves as we have had all seasons each day this week.

My mare will be just munching in the field in her retirement and husbands horse is out of work until lameness work up on the 22nd - he isn't lame but there is "something" not right with him at the moment. Had him 4 years and barely had a full year out of him and he is 15 now, so need to get to the bottom of it. He has been looked over with his other "issues" with a fine tooth comb over the years but still "something" not quite right and I can no longer look to see as I think I am starting to make up issues in my head lol.

Had a short hack this morning, planning longer hacks on Saturday & Sunday so lots of cantery countryside fun for us!

We have a with a lesson on Tuesday. Hoping instructor see's a difference as I think he feels like he's going so much better ?

Weekend started yesterday with some dressage in gusting gales and arena letter markers falling over, other stuff blowing around the place and that sort of thing. Really rusty and unpracticed but horse a good egg and did his stuff. Good luck all doing things horsey or not.

Blue is off games at the moment so I need to withdraw him from next weekend’s entries.

He hadn’t been quite right so packed him off to the vets for a performance work up and they found minor changes in both hocks. typically, he waited until he was allowed to start work to pull both front shoes off in the field. ?‍

The 4yo had an arena hire at a new venue this morning. He’s much happier working in/around others now but did have a couple of baby moments and a spook going past a few of the scarier jumps and the entry gates, but we got there in the end. Took a couple of friends along with us as we were taking the big lorry anyways.

Not much planned for Raz this week. Going to ask if I can swap Blue’s entry for next weekend across to him rather than lose it, so I’ll probably just work on that.
