If you decide to sell I really would think long and hard about selling before he is in full work. Doing this will probably halve your market and knock a couple thousand off what you could get for him if you spend a bit more time getting him into full work.

He’s a really nice horse and I think you’d have a lot of potential buyers if he’s in full work, but many people would be put off buying a freshly rehabbed horse.

I think I’ve said before, I’m really not bothered about losing a few grand through selling him early. I don’t want to keep him going into winter when I know I’m not keeping him long term.

I hadn’t thought about time of year by the time rehab is done. Would you consider LWVTB if the buyer was cautious about buying him not in full work?

Value wise a young horse who hasn't ever made it to proper work and has an injury to suspensory no matter how reassuring vet is about it is going to be low unless he has been in work properly (and even then value will be low). You might find someone to pay 1-2K but if anyone asked me about a 5yr old with suspensory ligament 'niggle' I'd advise them walk away . Sorry. Hope he improves.

From what my vet said the ligament itself is fine. I guess that’s for a potential buyer or loaner to decide, it wouldn’t necessarily put me off a trauma type injury.

Thats sort of the figure I had in mind. I obviously don’t want to “give” him away and him to end up in the wrong hands. Hopefully a LWVTB with someone not completely unknown will crop up!

If he is safe as houses hacking then I'm sure about 3k would be fine. That's what I would pay if passed vetting and had been rehabed and good hacking.

Not bothered about jumping but if he could start schooling etc. I don't see a problem.

People under estimate how much a good solid hacking horse is.

He would be on my list if I could afford and have time for another one. But he would be too small for my dad and brother ?

He is safe as houses in the sense of being great with traffic and hacking on the buckle and being very reliable with major “things” I but he’s still young, he’s only just 5 and not a dobbin by any means. He would easily take the p*** if allowed.

I’d like to see him go to a competitive home as I really think he’s going to have a huge amount to offer. But he prob wouldn’t care either way would he ?.

Will see how the next few months pans out. There’s never any point planning because horses ruin any plan you ever make!! X

Not even in the market for another but there’s several things going on in the background that might mean I will be by the time you come to look to sell/LWVTB so I’m book marking myself here ? purely out of interest of course.
