So little Sherbert Phantasma, Sherbert to her friends, arrived on Sunday afternoon in an awful hail/snow storm when it had been beautiful and sunny all morning. Typical!
Her name is intentionally misspelt as she is named after my grandad who recently passed away, Bert. Fantasma is ghost in Portuguese (she’s Lusitano x Welsh/Arab), and she came from Phantom stud and her sire is called Ghost, so the spelling reflects that.
She was a little hesitant to get off the trailer after her 6 hour journey because of said weather, can’t blame her. She settled pretty well after a bit of a buck and play round the stable to check out her new digs. She also met Ben who is stabled next door and was given and unceremonious nip on the nose!
She has been an absolute doll since, with just a minor blip with the electric fencing which she obviously hasn’t seen before. Bit of a heart in mouth moment when she just went straight through it on her first turnout! No harm done and she definitely respects it now XD
I just cannot get over how gentle and friendly she is. I got Ben as a yearling colt and although he was friendly he was also a bit of a thug and wanted to bite and chew everything - the difference between colts and filly’s I suppose! She just wants to be with you all the time, isn’t bothered being left by herself whilst I turn out everything else on the yard and she waits until last happily.
Leading is pretty good and feet too, just going to take baby steps improving these but leave her alone other wise. She is super happy being touched all over and thankfully loves a good groom as her baby woolly yak coat is coming off by the bucket load. Her breeder has done a fabulous job so far.
She is such a time waster and I’m glad I have this week booked off work. If I’m not up there sat in the field watching her I’m on the reolink app on my phone watching them from home - wonderful piece of technology.
So that’s all for now, I will update our progress as we go on, hopefully they can go out 24/7 shortly if the weather warms up a little. More pics -
