Its a troll post Ellie for goodness sake! Who do you think let the girl share a horse with her if she doesn't even know how to feed it, would you??? - do people like that even exist? Hopefully not!!

All I can say is be yourself, hold true to your principles and manner of dealing with people, and let everyone else get on with what ever they want to do. I see some people post and think 'god i'd hate to share a yard with someone like that' and others I imagine are the sort of people I'd gravitate towards. Just like in real life. But most importantly, don't take it too seriously :)

Wise words.
I love that cartoon. Very true.

It took me some time to get used to it here but stick with it – there’s loads of great information to be had. There are some oddballs and a few nasty people but there are in all walks of life. The difference with this is that if you do get into a discussion you can say your piece and get your point across which you can’t always do in real life. You can also ignore anyone who’s bothering you. The people on here who “say it as it is” are mostly a minefield of information although I’m not sure I’d want to be friends with some of them in the real world – but that’s just me, they probably wouldn’t want to hang out with me either! We all love our horses and so debates can get very passionate. I personally have very strong opinions but will always try and convey them calmly and in a friendly manner and unless there’s a welfare situation going on I can accept that not everyone does things the way I do.

If someone is being genuinely rude I suggest either ignoring them, or if it’s really nasty you can always report them. Don’t lower yourself to their standards or get into slanging matches. Oh and learn to spot a troll and don’t waste your time on those threads – unless you’re just after a laugh :)

So everyone instantly new what to do as soon as they could walk did they? Surely to share a horse is the ideal opportunity to learn? If you have only ever had riding lessons in a school, where are you going to learn these things? I was lucky i worked on a yard, many people are not as fortunate. We should be encouraging kids to ride and learn, not mocking them! And all this troll business what the hell is that about?

See, I go an play elsewhere for a while (talkingofhorses, amongst others, very touchyfeely and great fun and loads of support), but I come back here, must be the sadist in me :eek::D:D

People are what they are. A thread like this comes up roughly once a month. People throw their teddies out of the pram because some people don't talk nicely. Well. Tough, they don't. Deal with it or move on. It's a free country.

And, as an aside, what does it matter if someone is called fat? I'm fat. I am. There's no disguising it (oh if only!), but as far as I'm aware there isn't a Sizeist Act, so no law breaking going on. Just a statement of fat (sorry, couldn't resist).

I'll go away now :D

Get over it. It's a trolling post, the Easter hols are upon us so expect more of these. Look at the way it's written, 2 different styles of writing by the same poster?? badly typed and mispelt?? I know 8 year olds that can type better than that! It's done to get a rise out of people, and these days all they get is a playalong P-take.....It brightens the day, if you don't like the replies DON'T read them *simples*

You could always pick up a book. If you can use the net and register on a forum, you should be able to crack the enigma code that is, google.

Have you not realised what forum trolls are yet?

They are people who post inflammatory threads in order to provoke a response - some are very subtle, starting off fairly reasonable and degenerating into obvious ridiculousness as it goes along...others are just laughable from the beginning. Many 'Old Nags' and other members are old hands at spotting improbable Troll threads and will respond accordingly.

Excuse me Ellie_e, but where are you getting this all from exactly.

Im a novice, i have a bit more than a basic knowledge of horses and As soon as i found out i am going to be owning a horse of my own soon i was pointed straight to this forum. And yes the first three or four comments were a bit hurtful, but people soon saw i was genuine and have been excellently helpful, and have given me massive confidence in myself and my ability.

Also after being on here a week i encountered a troll post and i agree, they are bleeding annoying and could be harmful to someone who didnt know and maybe read it. like the thread you are on about-what if some complete complete never touched a horse in their life read that and decided to get a horse (i know plenty of people who have the means to do that) with no experience??? you do need to think of the repurcussions of idiots.

Maybe stick around and not post, or read the posts that are kind and informative and helpful.

Oh yes and fluffy too - and cute foals! :D

It's just if we see a cute foal being ridden in sparkly pink bling with a broken leg, by a 20 stone person in trainers, we'll probably tell the person posting about it, in no uncertain terms and not just say

"xxx <3 Awww how cute, where did you get your numnah please <3 xxx"

Ha yes, the comment was there..had to say it! just like many of the people just had to say it, to others!! Not so nice when the boot is on the other foot!?! Im not trying to change anything geez a forum this size is clearly not going to change now! i am clearly asking why do people say it?!? speak the truth, say it as it is...but why be rude?!

So to summarize...you pick on a post clearly posted by a troll and complain that people are being rude about it, while doing the complaining you are rude to someone else yourself, you fail to apologize, you insist on aserting your right to be rude ("had to say it!"), but want everyone else to stop doing it...are you a troll?

Yes that is a troll.

Because some people like to do it for entertainment.

Ellie - if you are not sure what a troll is, or think that we are making it up, just Google 'Trolling' and it will tell you.

Some people love to wind others up - that is the joy of trolling.

We've had our fair share on this forum and most can spot them a mile off.

Just Gone To The Said Thread To See 4 Myself...And It Is Certainly A Wind-up. (Should that have been Wind-Up)?, Anyway, It's Pretty Exhausting Typing In Magenta And Treating Every Word Like A Proper Noun....That's better.. Anyone who is daft enough to take on a horse or pony without a single shred of knowledge should treated with a pinch of salt. You have to be careful with the internet - It could be that she's not a 15 stone teenager, but instead some hairy bloke with too much time on his hands and not enough friends.

What is the saying, One mans joke is another mans insult.

You loose a lot with the typed word. Especially body language with can moderate a comment.

..... and easter holiday *moans* oh god that means the roads won't stay clear for ever in the morning:rolleyes:

Encouraging kids? On here you mean?

I come here for a good lively debate, have a read of a good old slanging match and discuss all manner of things. I didn't come here to purely 'encourage the young entry'....

Calling us 'Old Nags' indeed...

I am positive I don't 'insult and call people names' on here, but I'll be damned if it's all-holds-barred on giving my opinion on something...

Why don't you trot along now, and find a forum called 'We all love our ponies and bright pink sparkly bits' if you find this forum so distasteful?
