A post below about a new hat hurting got me thinking - several posters comented on the fact that hat shapes are different, as well as sizes, with traditionals tending to be a bit longer and thinner and skull caps a bit more rounded.
I have always had traditional peaked caps as skull caps have always given me a headache but I need a cap without a peak if I want to do hunter trials next year.
Are their any hats/skull caps without peaks that are more of a traditional peaked shape rather than the rounded skull cap shape?
If not I think I may not do any hunter trials - there is nothing worse than a uncomfortable hat. I know the no peak rule is for safely reasons and I respect that totally, I just CAN'T find a skull cap that doesn't pinch, no matter what size or make. I think if I had to wear an uncomfortable hat, even just for half an hour or so, I would be much more likely to fall off as instead of concentrating on the horse and the course, I would be concentrating on my head! Maybe i'll just stick to hunting, where peaked is much more common anyway!
