I had my lovely dog out for a walk at the weekend! it was one of the first properly nice days in a while so we (well I....he didn't have a choice!!) decided that we should go for a nice walk in the woods! Now the woods were quiet )7:45am! so my dog was off the lead mooching about in the long grass at the side of the track, I should mention he has excellent recall....even when he started chasing a rabbit! now about half an hour into our walk a jogger came past, and due to having some manners I called my dog back to my side to allow the jogger plenty of room to go past to which the jogger shouted ' that dog is dangerous he shouldn't be in a public place, especially if he cant be trusted not to chase people running past'! this confused me greatly as my dog was still off lead and was lying at my side chewing a stick waiting for said jogger to get out of our way so we could continue! I put it off as a case of mistaken identity and we continued our walk. about another 20 minutes later Bear was still off his lead and a collie came running up to him trying to get him to play. at which point the owner of said collie ran up to us screaming and yelling for me to ' get my dog under control and put a muzzle on him!' all while screaming on her dog........I took a long sign and called bear back to my side, which he did immediately to allow this stupid woman to chase her collie around us for 5 minutes trying to catch it! I was quite pleased that I managed to do this al without mentioning that it was HER dog that came up to US! now I should maybe say that my dog is a mutt and looks like he could be American bull dog X Rottweiler X Bull Mastiff or something similar to that! However I feel that my dog did nothing wrong in any of these situations! When will people stop blaming the breed! yes my dog is big (11 months and about 7.5 stone) but he is always polite and well behaved and in fact has better manners than the majority of people that we meet on our outings! Sorry for the rant but I am so sick of people blaming my dog for something he didn't do! He is a nice dog with a big heart its just a shame people cant be the same way!!!! GGGRGGRRRRRRRRRR
