So, which one of you lot is the one-in-twenty?

10% optimum weight  well that'll put the cat amongst the pidgeons!
I'm exactly 10% of the big girl I ride but 12% of the other un.

Erm, is that actually right? My horse is just under 500kg ish and that means I should weigh 7 1/2 stone ish, I certainly don't weigh that little?!

Guilty as charged 65kg on 14:2 Arab. Didn't stop him winning 2 world championship with me or pi****g off with me on a hack this morning.

Can I join the guilty crowd?!!!

I weigh in at 10stones / 63.5 kg and ride a highland who's 615 kg which means I need to shift 20kg to fit in with the 10% rule. The fact that he's built like a tank and barely notices I'm there most of the time is irrelevant I suppose...?

Crikey, my 15.1hh heavy weight cob is struggling to carry me. He has 11 1/2 inches of bone and weighs 585kg.

I'm an obese 10 stone, 5'7 and size 10.

Daren't mention my poor WBxTB. Poor girl. Better find an 8 year old with a death wish to ride her then.

600kg highland? Are you sure he's not a part bred elephant?!

Mine's 400 by weight tape (I reckon nearer 500 by weigh bridge) and I definitely weigh more that 40-50kg :o

Your highland is the same weight as my 17hh hanovarian!!!

Hand up, I am v guilty!

TB x warmblood measures around 580kg on weigh tape.

I am absolutely nowhere near 58kg, although under the 15% rule I might be ok. Just going off to do the maths...

I think some people over estimate their horses weight. I thought my 17hh would weight 630kg, according to weigh tape he is 585kg.

Weight tapes are notoriously inaccurate and often differ wildly from actual measurements. If you want an absolute weight, go to a weigh bridge - you might be surprised. Weight tapes are great for monitoring changes in weight, but they are an estimate based on one factor alone (girth measurement, and how that relates to weight - i.e. doesn't account for different conformation of a cob vs TB etc).

Yes I know weigh tapes are just a guide but a 610kg highland! Surely that is over estimated?

I'm not that fussed about his weight to actually weigh him :) I generally go by how he looks and I've no chance of ever being 10% of his body weight either way :) well unless I give in to the voice in my head that says eat chocolate for every meal .....

Erm everyone I know exceeds the 10% rule :( I can't way I would been happy trusting either my TB of WB to a really lightweight rider, I doubt they would know that anyone under 50kg was sitting on them!

63kg, ben is about 600kg... just over... or may just be within... couldn't say as not certain on his weight at the moment and he's grown. But pretty sure Im safe enough:rolleyes:
