Just being nosy. I have left Murphy and the three demented TB's in today. Lashing with rain and blowing a gale. Just spoke to my husband and there are police and woodchipping machines passing the yard so ther must be a tree down somewhere! A pony that kicks door if left in has been turned out as has the old horse who gets incrediably stiff if left in. Just wondered what you all do - I'm a stickler for turning out but this Murphy is definately happier in his huge stable with lots of hay!

no way!!!!! my two would hate it with a passion!! Bloss hates wind anyways and id worry too much that Archie would do something stupid to himself. They are both perfectly happy tucked up in their stables for the day.

However the 'liveout' horses at my yard are all still out and perfectly happy. Think it depends on your horse tbh!

Nope. Amy very happy in her stable eating an enormous pile of haylage.

Mucked out by torchlight this morning as all the power went. Hopefully she'll get out for an hour later on this afternoon.

Just not a nice day at all

Ours never get much turn out at this time of year anyway....but I hope Trike at least gets a couple of hours out today. He doesn't care about the weather....he's like a pig in sh1t most of the time and it's much better for him to be out than in

Bo on the other hand is unlikely to even put his head over the door when it's like this

Two are out and will stay out - they haven't been in yet this winter and it would be dangerous to walk them down the road with the weather as it is, the two that are in made it very clear that they were NOT going ont - so in they will stay!

No... for one we have to walk down a road, two my horse's field companion would go ape in this wind, and three there are actually bits of trees and rubbish (bin day) flying about across the fields! Faaar to dangerous, she's all tucked up with a nice dry rug on and a mahoosive pile of hay (she thinks it's Christmas again)!

Try making a fat cob get out of his box........the look on his face said "No Thanks!" so he stayed in for the second day.....but,we did go for a 20 minute walk to stretch the leggies!

Both mine are turned out this morning in their full neck rugs it was quite entertaining walking up to the field the wind was howling but they both behaved very well. I will bring them in after a couple of hours but do like to get them out for some part of the day what ever the weather.

Mine are in today, fields are terrible, wind is really bad and they are really not bothered about been out, all have lots of haylage and are toasty warm......... Nothing else has gone out on my yard either.

I have, it's not raining now as much as it was - and all the horses get turned out at ours, 2 ponies live out aswell. I did toy with the idea of leaving her in, but once her friends are out with her she'll be fine.

she had a stable and also a covered concrete area which is about 4 /5 times bigger than her stable and the flat roof leaks. i always have 2 haynets (1 in and 1 out) and every morning i find her outside where she is soaking - she could stay in her warm stable but no - she's not that bright!!

so - on the basis of that i know the rain doesn't bother her!!!

Mine always get at least a couple of hours out unless its really bad..........and so they're in today.
Luckily they don't seem to mind though, they've got plenty of haylage and are warm and dry.

I have got two out 24/7 but they have a small indoor school to use as a field shelter. They have a bale of hay a day in there so I'm just about to struggle over and check they're OK.

I like Murph to have a few hours out and will try to get him out later - but I work full time so mostly have to make a decision in the morning! Husband is haying him at lunch so he'll be happy! (Murphy not husband

Mine live out on top of a valley overlooking the sea

They'll be huddled up together in the bushes at the bottom of the field somewhere no doubt!!

My wimpy TB has gone out today! He was in all day yesterday because it was pretty bad in the morning, so I insisted he had to go out today, at least for an hour. His field is pretty sheltered and 48 hours in a stable would leave him pretty stiff, so he needed to walk it off today.
Am waiting for the inevitable phone call from groom to say he's climbed the gate to come in........

I think pickle is in today. Because I am almost certain someone has booked a lesson on him today. He is on full working livery monday-friday. Then DIY working livery saturday-sunday

In. Was horrible this morning and am worried about old trees coming down.

Plus they are dangerous to lead in when its really windy - I struggle to hold Asti in her be nice, and she fell over not long ago trying to launch herself down the yard away from the monsters in the field.

They are so odd, fair anough she walks VERY FAST INDEED up the field, but as you get onto the well lit concrete yard within metres of her stable, the wind is usually blowing straight at us then, and she goes loopy, suddenly everything behind her is going to eat her and she needs to launch herself up the yard as fast as poss.

Unfortunatley she's teaching Ivy to be the same. There is only the TB with any brains who doesn't care!

Both mine were out at 7am this morning they dont mind.

They are eventers though a bit of wind, rain and mud shouldnt hurt them!!
