The posts to me didn't look like bullying, and to be honest I couldn't understand them very well at all.
As people have mentioned no one knew that this person had dyslexia, and they were having a go at general "chav" language methinks.
A bit off topic but I am one of a few of my generation that doesn't use text language- even in texts I use full english because text language gets on my nerves. So there is no need to worry if I become your doctor/lawyer etc

what really pissed me off was the way they all leapt upon the poster like a bunch of jackals, without taking a moment to think, but that is o.k by you then????? but I have to take a moment....now come on.....

I have to agree that I inwardly groaned slightly when I started to read the thread that I think has caused this one. I guess I felt a little embarressed, if infact the person that hadn't spelt well originally had a reason for doing so.
However I think the thread was taken very lightheartedly by all members and descended very quickly into taking the mick out of the 'chavs' that show no intent to spell correctly.
Which personally doesn't bother me!

Just had a look at all of the newbie's threads - she has been ripped into on most occasions, BUT.....it was all in jest and people just thought that she was being lazy as most would not actively post verbal diarrhea onto a public site.

And yes, Lilym you can't be objective if you know here - you did have insider knowledge that all of the posters did not know about. Its not as if the newbie has commented about what has been said, but has just posted various pictures (of a couple of rather nice beasties).

I believe this is in reference to roly2's threads, not Flintus's one. (sp!)

do NOT bully or you will answer to me, and my english is good enough to rip you to shreds, believe me

Well that reads pretty clearly as a threat to me....

I haven't really read the threads in question - glanced briefly at them, but it didn't seem to me like there was bullying going on. Merely a bit of taking the pee at a poster who appeared to make no attempts whatsoever to form a coherent sentence. People tend to be fairly forgiving if somebody admits they have a problem, but there is a fine line between genuine disability and just laziness and it is natural for people to find it irritating if they are unable to decipher a single sentence someone has written.

I very much doubt anyone took a moment to think anything except this was quite obviously a troll.

I just read the other thread and perhaps you did make a slight error of judgement by sending her here without saying to her to mention that she has dyslexia, as you surely do know that people on here are sticklers for grammar, correct spelling and they dislike text speak. To be honest, I actually thought the poster was using text speak but then I am pretty useless at text speak so what do I know

Yay, most of my friends use it in texts and on msn and it's so annoying! Especailly on msn, because it doesn't even cost anything to write in proper english like it would in a text.

There was a troll in the common room, they kept going on about cheese!

I understand the post, I understand you are being VERY hypocritical with regards to being a bully i.e you're lecturing people not to bully yet you're doing so yourself!

I am really sorry if Roly feels bullied. I think Flintus was taking the P IMO and if it has hurt the poster in anyway then whether people like it of not it could be said to be bullying. However i think some people joined in without realising hence unintentional bullying.

Maybe you could spend time with your friend showing them how to spell and grammar check. That is not meant to be a sarcastic comment either!

Why are you trying to turn this on yourself? God! You really are backing yourself into a corner.

People have admitted that they thought that it was just chav talk, the girl should have mentioned she had a problem. End of. We aren't just bitchy for the sheer hell of it! (well....depends! )

STOP trying to turn it into a one man battle, this is a forum where people try to get a certain level of coherency in their responses.

Its the same the world over? What!?!

I think the point you have made is valid, but delivering it in such an aggressive tone somewhat invalidates your position on the moral high ground.

It is generally frowned upon to use text speak on the forums, and when somebody types in a way that there is no sentence structure or any apparent attempt to make sense, people get irritated because they cannot read it. If there is no reason given, it appears to be sheer laziness - hence people's reactions. I would not say it was bullying though I can see why roly may be upset at being teased - however if people had posted to roly in the same tone you have posted here, that she should "go away or be ripped to shreds" then it would be well out of line IMO.

There are a series of new threads started by Roly2 all posted within the last 2 hours. Then.....there is a independent thread started something to do with TB's with title in 'txt' speak. Just have a scroll 'thru'.

Well, that is very odd. I have just given up trying to decipher four threads on another horsey website, some of which referred to this same horse's pic, as shown on here on roly's thread. Obviously the same person, BUT if he/she can spell all the horses' names correctly on here then why can't he/she spell anything else, which he/she has written ... mmmmmmmm???

Yep, I've looked at them all and I can't find any evidence of bullying per se. Ok, so there is some veeeery creative spelling and lots of correction, but TBF Roly could very easily have been a troll and I'm sure none of it was done with deliberate malice.

None of us are mind readers........I struggled to understand the posts as to me they were gibberish. Too many people who are too lazy to spell & punctuate correctly claim to be dyslexic. Those who are genuine sufferers tend to say so very early on in their posts. I have never seen anyone who is dyslexic be bullied or made fun of on here once people are aware that that is the case. The majority of people on here aren't bitchy at all, nor are they bullies, but it's hard to be able to help if you can't understand what the post is about.

As has already been pointed out in this wonderful age of electronics & computers there are many tools available to help those who suffer from dyslexia, or those who simply can't spell, & I do hope that Roly hasn't been put off posting on here.

It drives ma mad & is just the most annoying thing there is possibly. Ditto the MSN thing, doesn't even cost money to type the English language correctly on there
