All this crap about proper spelling is relatively recent anyhow. Why can't we go back to the good old days when people could spell things how they liked?
The people who correct the spelling made me cringe - who on earth do you think you are !! I would never dream of correcting someones spelling on here no matter how poor it is, every poster on here is equal - whether you have posted once or 50,000 times. I think some people need to get over themselves a little bit !! Yes its a pain in the arse if its spelt wrong and yes you could presume its a teenager who can't be bothered but to humiliate someone who perhaps doesn't know any better / has dyslexia or similar?! Not fair - yes you don't know they have a problem unless they start every post by declaring it but thats not the point. It pretty clear its not text speak as even text speak makes sense to some degree.
Putting myself in Roly's shoes i'd be so embarrassed i'd probably never come on here again - and i'm not even a particularly sensitive soul. Is that the sort of imagine HHO wants? I know the equine sport is an elite one but come on, its takes all sorts.
And all this troll stuff isn't an excuse either, what tripe.

I felt that too. There are a lot of forum posters' on here who use the words "there" instead of "their/they're" or use "your" instead of "you're". I would not dream of pointing this out in the manner that Rolys spelling mistakes were pointed out. On all of that persons threads the first few posts, sometimes the whole thread, was just pointing out very bluntly those spelling mistakes. She had posted pictures of her horses/ponies asking what people thought. To be humiliated like that was out of order IMO.
As regards to Flintus' thread, I honestly thought it was to do with chavs/text speak & so I posted on it in that vein. If I'd known it was a deliberate dig at Roly I would not have posted.
She is a new member, I felt shy enough posting without having to face that & if I were her I would now think this forum was very unfriendly & snobby. I know that isn't the case but that is the impression those few posters' gave & it is not fair. Especially as they are supposed to be adults.....
I am fully aware my grammar & spelling fails me on occasions but none of us are perfect & it really is not nice to highlight a weakness in such a humiliating manner. It is disgraceful.
but are you not being a bully yourself by threatening others ???
hhhmmm.... I think so my dear.
Life is hard for everyone, get to grips with it and stop feeling so hard done by. I am sure if your friend was upset she would post herself and not depend on others to fight for them.
I am sure there are people on here that have more to deal with than dyslexia (can't spell it !!)
Lighten up, all i have read on this forum this week is jokes about heather mills artificial leg, my stepson has the same disability, i could have got very offended.
Phew - this is turning into a long thread!! OP - I think you might need to take a deep breath and relax. People aren't nasty on here, they just expect to be able to understand posts....

Having read the threads in question, maybe I'm wrong, but Roly2's spelling doesn't look like a normal pattern of dyslexia to me.

I have to agree. I am dyslexic and although dyslexia can manifest in different ways, the posts look very much like text speak to me.

I do think though, that if you come on a forum to communicate with others, then you have a responsibility to make some effort to ensure that you communicate clearly, and the people reading your posts don't have to work harder than you do in order to decipher your meaning.

My dyslexia is mild but i make an effort to try and make my posts easy to read. Sometimes it takes me a long time to post because i have to read and re-read what ive written.
TBH if the poster is NOT dyslexic then all this has been in very poor taste.
I think this whole saga has started with trolling to be honest.
Just look how we have all jumped to put in our opinions. Seems they have got what they wanted.
I have to say I didn't read roly's post because I couldn't understand them and I thought they were blatent trolling.
I don't spell a lot of the things I write on here correctly because i'm lazy and i send my day typing and writing things that have to be 100% correct so I get bored checking when I do things for fun
I think LilyM needs to calm down, step back and take a long hard look at just how needlessly aggressive and bullying she is being. If Roly2 truly is someone with dyslexia all it took was for her to get their consent to admit to their problem and write a post making us aware of the fact and that possibly some peoples's conduct had left a lot to be desired. I always find it best not to write in anger and wait to calm down and put forward polite but no nonsense responses.

I don't have anything against people with dyslexia...I hope you don't think that. Nor am I obsessed with grammar and spelling - as long as I can understand it, that's fine, it doesn't have to be perfect. I hope I haven't made you feel bad about your dyslexia, Fee_fee - that was never my intention.

and check out all the posts by 'donnawelshponys5' you will see the same types of posts with 'silly' grammar and spelling. You will also note that according to her profile that she is 21 or 22 tomorrow.
Dyscalculia is much easier to hide than dyslexia. In addition, it does not carry anything like the same level of social stigma. There has been a lot of nonsense talked on here about "normal" dyslexia. We have no idea about the level or peculiarities of an unknown person's dyslexia. Dyslexia is a very wide ranging term and covers a huge range of difficulties. In addition, the level of a person's IQ confuses the issue further. I am surprised that so many people (on both sides) have writtten with such lack of knowledge and sensitivity.
