hey all,

as title really.

I recently was sort of pressured into applying for a job and they offered me the job but as I say I was kinda under pressure to apply from others.

new job would be more money-less hours + some other benefits

current job am happy , kno everyone, get decent payrise in feb, but much smaller organisation so future not really as secure.

I've never not accepted a job I've been offered, but I have taken jobs I wasn't sure about in the past and regretted it. I think you get a feeling about things sometimes.

Alternatively, it's sometimes good to take a chance.

Sorry - I'm not much help.

Follow your gut instints about the job! I've been offered a job in the past and the next day was offered another job in another surgery with better hours etc! So I phoned first surgery back and said thanks but have accepted another offer they were fine with it.

thanks for reply feel better now, thankyou 'chestnut mare'.

'sianeliza' thankyou I think I have the 'feeling' and might regret it in future.

thing is I mentioned it a current place and word spread and everone thinks am leaving and people I know at other place think am defo going there.

one person at work even said I just did it for attention when I said I didn't know what to do which made me feel whole lot worse. just feel bit of a idiot tbh.

I turned down a really good job, well paid and excellent products because the guy I would have been working for was a complete b'stard.

First interview was with the big boss, who was really nice, second interview was with nasty b'stard. Apparently he was really impressed with me, I can only say the feeling was NOT mutual.

no - but on the end at my work we have offered jobs to quite a few people and they have not accepted them.

I've turned a job down before - same job, different PCT, longer drive with the promise of more money at interview. Firm offer came in at £7k LESS than previous job for same work but 3x the drive.

Had to say no. Felt awful, but it was the right thing to do. I'd have been a slave to the M1 for less than min wage with the fuel bill!!!!

that they probably got a better offer elsewhere - the best candidates often can choose who they want to work for, or their circumstances changed eg family illness etc.

hmm from that p.o.v how does that make you feel about applicant as job just isn't right this time, but don't want to burn all bridges there.

just wondering how to say it now.

Yes, several times. Most times its been because I don't think I'm going to get on with my future boss.

I've even terminated an interview half way through when one interviewer irritated me so much. Actually that one was very funny, I've never seen a mans jaw drop so far! :D He gabbled about making another appointment at a later date, which I politely declined. He then wrote to me and said he didn't think I was suitable for job. Eeeh? Honestly I think sometimes they forget that its a 2 way thing.

If you don't feel its right it probably isn't. If you are in 2 minds though you could ask for a follow up discussion with them to see if it clarifies things. You might just find the future boss is doing a macho thing because its an interview.

Good luck whatever you decide and don't allow peer pressure to bulldoze you into something that's not right for you
