Yet another one.
Anyone made plans?

I'm going to be attempting to ride Kira because the last week has been so busy I feel like I've let her slip a bit. Other than that, hibernation looks like it would be a good idea, but realistically I will be flying loose hay around the field for the retirees and getting soaked repeatedly.

Indoor lesson next wednesday!

Good luck WPers ;)

I'm meant to be going to the pole work clinic that was postponed last weekend but with the weather it looks like it'll either be postponed again or just outright cancelled ?

I'm off to the saddler with the horse and two saddles, I'm bound to be coming home with different ones, I'm sure he whoops with delight when he sees my name on his bookings list... Hes probs booked a holiday or bought a pony for the child already lol

Unfortunately he lives along the most exposed road alongside the sea ever, and his arena is blowy at the best of times - so I think I'll adjust my route to arrive inland, and potentially just sit up in the saddles in the shed and ride on them properly at home. My horse is NOT a fan of outside in bad weather at the best of times never mind storms in strange arenas in strange saddles... Though I guess it could be a proper test of how secure they are?!
Have fun everyone!

We postponed last weekend's arena hire for this weekend...
Now looks likely to be a whole lot of nothing - probably too windy to even hack, and on a yard with stables all in elderly barns and a school in the middle in severe weather it's risky to even school! At least a couple of slates were on the yard after Ciara.
Supercob however is having a lesson with our yard owner riding and her instructor today - I'm a smidge envious as a) the instructor can't (wont) stop at the yard late enough to teach me anyway and b) today is about the only day this week that has been even close enough to decent to want to ride and I'm working too late to go anyway  However it will be good for supercob to have a lesson and at least he's getting out!

I’m off to another dressage competition. We are having a go at our first Novice one as well. Purely down to the fact someone hinted that we should stick to low level dressage , so i thoughts sod you we will try a level up . Been practising counter canter and medium trot / canter this week . We are most definitely work in progress, but at least we will be smiling !
Hope Dennis is kind to everyone this weekend !

love your attitude :D

Was supposed to be heading out for a lesson but due to the impending winds, my instructor is thankfully coming to me and our indoor (genuinely so lucky to be on a yard with a lovely indoor). Then off for some drinks with my pals on Saturday night and probably not a huge amount planned for sunday.

Asha, good for you - novice is much more interesting anyway, I'm sure you'll have a blast

Nada Saturday/Sunday apart from battling with flappy fencing, mucking out and attempting to get at least one hack under our belts!
Tomorrow I’m taking the boyo over to a friends yard (with a beautiful big outdoor arena and an indoor) to have a play and try some saddles on him. Friend swears by Equipe so I’m half-looking and *may* have found something suitable online, but going to try friends (much newer) version of the same saddle - Equipe Synergy Special - on him to see how it fits before committing to a purchase.
Roast dinner Sunday afternoon at dads will undoubtably be the highlight ?

Ohhh are you going to O M saddlery?? Hope it all goes OK. Last time I took Fionn, he widened the tree slightly, so I didn't have to cough up for a new saddle as I had expected....

I gave up my plans to make the trip (even without the pony) due to the weather, and the new saddler is being posted to me via Parcelforce 24. Should arrive today, so I can try at the weekend.....

Child wants to go to indoor SJ on Friday night, so fingers crossed we will do that, and there is indoor SJ on Sat morning too if I want to venture out, and the weather is suitable for towing on the motorway (doubtful).

I want it to stop and our fields to dry up.

The only good news is that the littlies both got beautiful new clips yesterday and look a million dollars.

Current plans include:
-hibernating as much as possible
-crying over the state of my field
-selling a kidney to fund the amount of haylage and shavings I'm using
-trying not to get squashed when hand grazing due to no turnout all weekend
-making plans to move somewhere it doesn't rain
-praying to a God I don't believe in for the rain to stop

Aw sure if I'd told you sooner I could have just lifted it for you!!

I literally don't have another saturday to go now, I'm scoring flexi next week and then I'm off on hols, back in time for the 2 phase and then its Tyrella 1 and a whole season of either eventing or scoring or both and no time for saddler trips... so its basically saturday or September lol
I'm gonna go by Moira - templepatrick - ballyclare and down into the back of where he is if that makes sense, so hopefully it will be OK. I don't think I will realistically be brave enough to try and ride properly if its blowing a gale.. The two horse is much more stable in the wind than either a trailer or a taller truck so I'm hoping it will be OK.

Oh Robert sees me coming a mile off, I'm sure he already has hidden anything affordable and will be displaying the most beautiful and expensive items in the shop for when I arrive.. I really am a saddlers dream. I thinkits the way other girls feel in expensive clothes or shoe shops? Or house interior shops?!!

On Monday we will need pics of your new saddle (or saddles????) :)

Our lorry is in for a refurb, so I am very circumspect about towing in high winds :( Small lorry sounds like a much better option.

Will try to get to flexi on 22nd to see you x x Or are you accompanying Natasha to Fri night jumping??

I have been struggling to get cleared up at work to make it to friday night jumping with Tash, which is a shame as its worth it for the chips alone, never mind the kids ;-)
I think you're right about being careful in the trailer, I wouldn't be going if I was towing. The wee truck is pretty solid and not too tall. I drive like miss daisy anyway so fingers crossed I'll survive!

I have of course already got a lovely Pariani jumping saddle (last year's robert-saw-me-coming moment!) and an albion platinum ultima dressage. The Pariani fits OK but I'm not in love with it (dangerous...!) and the albion needs widened out for Touch's manly shoulders, or replaced. With something of the same value, definitely no need to upgrade - I only use it for shows, and the odd hack before a show so I remember what its like with long stirrups (how typically eventery is that?! lol)

Hopefully the weather will have taken a turn for the better by the following week and you can get Fionn out to the flexi for another blast round the xc!!

I'm on a ferry Saturday for a family birthday party on Sunday (not with horses on board)! Luckily have a fantastic housesitter who I trust implicitly with the nags. Quite pleased I won't be here although not looking forward to journey there nor back on Monday.

Have a DTM session with Gaynor Colbourn next Wednesday which I am looking forward to although our training has taken a massive back seat recently due to work, our lovely weather, mud fever, dark nights blah blah blah.

Buying a dinghy.

The look on the big boys face this morning when I turned out and he realised we were back to bog. ..... about 6mm in 2 hours last night. Haven't got the heart to tell him about Dennis.

I'm supposed to get on the other one before vets on Tues. Needs working so we can see what's sore. She hates the rain so I'm really looking forward to that ?

Have written February off. I’ve had a virus which I am still not over so horse not being ridden and what with the weather as well just decided to be sensible and rest as per doctor instructions!

I keep looking at the weather site in the vain hope that it will improve, it hasn't. I've an "eyes on the ground" lesson tomorrow lunchtime which will go ahead. Saturday I was hoping to hack but I think Rose will be having a duvet day and I'll spend some time tidying her up as I am hoping to go to a Claire Oliver showing clinic on Sunday (Sunday looks horrendous!) but at least there is an indoor school.
I hope everyone keeps safe and dry in this vile weather. It lashed down last night and we now have lakes again, I am thinking I need to buy Stanley (BT) a pair of galoshes, he was almost swimming at times on our walk this morning!

New to the Forum so just using this as an opportunity to say Hi. Like most others I'll be buttoning down the hatches this weekend. I had been hoping to go to a test riding clinic but have pulled out due to the weather. Disappointed as I was hoping to have a play at a novice test in anticipation of making the step up in the next month or so. Have to admit that we're not actually ready for that yet, but I can't face any more of the early starts that go with prelim tests - I know, I'm a lightweight! Nevertheless, someone has to come last and it'll all be part of our learning curve.

Picture is horse with his just got out of bed hair. Hope everyones weekend plans come to fruition.

My weekend started this afternoon, have just been to a fab polework clinic with Inspire Dressage, B Fuzzy got a lot out of it once she settled!
Office tomorrow.
Allegedly arena eventing clinic Sunday, everything else has cancelled but thus hasn't yet...
Good luck to anyone actually getting out this weekend!

It was a success I’d say.
No one died or went flying.
Went on the trailer (eventually)
Travelled well with a companion
Had a little trot around the indoor school without doing anything too twatish
Stood on the trailer well while his mate had a lesson
Arrived home thinking he is now billy big balls

Welcome and what a lovely looking horse.

Finn has only been ridden once this week, yesterday. I did manage to lunge her on Tuesday and she has been turned out. We have a pole work clinic tomorrow night, indoor, so I hope that is still going ahead.

Was supposed to have a physio appointment yesterday but they did not turn up, looks like an email glitch. Happily, it was just a routine one and when I rode yesterday I think she went best ever!

Big goal ATM is my dressage lesson on Wednesday, my 4th with this trainer and we are just getting better and better. So, the pole work clinic on Friday is just to make sure we are worked and ready for the dressage on Wednesday. Hopefully not the only time I will be riding, but if this storm is as bad as the last it may be!

well... last week's Sunday dressage show was postponed to this saturday

I doubt they will postpone it twice. The forecast is strong gusty winds and lots of rain but clearing in the afternoon and I'm not on until 3 so I'm keeping fingers crossed that dennis or derek or whatever his name is might be over by the time I need to travel. The show is also quite close to home for once so plan would be to leave it until the last minute, travel tacked up and ready dressed to ride including my hat and jump on for a quick warm up lol

if weather OK then I have a lesson sunday
