I know quite a few, all decent, never had an issue but they wouldn't tell me anything about what a horse was worth

Ok, fair enough - no skin off my nose. I probably would get very angry and throw my toys out of the pram (to TFC) if that whole sad thread was conjured up, let's hope it was not.

TRUE travellers often cherish their horses, which could be the card played here. Very clever.

I did wonder why my PM took so long to reply to....

as for proof of who I am, check winchester city council planning for 2004 see who got chucked off there land for using it for living on for all the clever people on here ;) , ill narrow the serch a bit more the area is cheriton if thats how you spell

How do they buy and sell then? :confused:

I saw a car on the side of a road a couple of months back, with a for sale sign, phone no. and a price. I texted the number and had several conversations re money and value of said car. I then went to meet the owner, a young lad of about 20, and look at the car.

We discussed money at length, as I thought it over-priced. In the end I didn't buy it as we didn't agree.

The lad was a traveller, and had no qualms at all about discussing money.

I was under the impression that these two met here a few days ago and are not "mates"?

Lee lives in Ireland, RB in Lancashire. I didn't think they knew each other in RL.
 
The horse is nice, but the market is so bad I'd say 600 max if he needs restarting, maybe not even that, depends why they say that. If the people get offended by a sensible offer then tough, you can always work up if you really want a horse and will pay over the odds for it.

I don't really understand why people are always speculating about trolls, in my opinion someone is a troll if they come on here upsetting people on purpose and hurting feelings, I want to see discussions about horses, that is what this is, no problem for me!
 
Sorry, Fiona, but with horses it is totally different. It's very hush/hush chat man to man, certainly NOT on a forum. And no traveller with an eye for a horse is going to post the ad on here (and risk losing the horse to someone else), and then DISCUSS MONEY !!! Ach no, he/she has fallen on his sword for me tonight.

ps I HOPE I AM WRONG !!!! The Athena thread...... OMG.

Ts the horse in question is in Cornwall.. I think RB was window shopping, unless the travellers come over here with a job lot from Ireland, they wouldn't come over her with any serious idea of buying a project horse from Cornwall and paying to transport it home... So since it was just a 'musing' thread, the topic of money conversation is redundant
 
OK, have said my piece, and this is the last of it - have held back for long enough now, to wait until these two fell on their swords. Seems they will milk their popularity for all it is worth.

But as I say, i have worked with true Romanies, to settled travellers, and their horses, and most would be laughing their **** off at this rubbish. To talk about money and horses on a public forum ?? To discuss a potential purchase ?? Sorry, no way. And to have an almost exclusive private conversation on a public forum ? You have to be joking !!! It took 2 days to reply to my PM (and a promting from here ??)

I sincerely hope there was some truth in the Athena story (ironically), but sadly..... IF I am right, that was a damned cruel thing to put on a forum. Shame on you both.

And ALL travellers, including settled ones, ALWAYS behave the same? I don't think so. RB clearly is a bit different, coming on here isn't typical traveller behaviour for a start.

I just don't know why we can't just live and let live. He's not saying or doing anything offensive (therefore not a troll) so why the obsession with trying to prove he's fake? Why do you care so much?

The conversations between Lee and RB? I would say are two like minded people having a chat about horses (shock horror!! on a horse forum!! ...Funnily enough it happens quite often on here!

hold on a min the athena thread aint nothing to do with me, yeah i posted on it a couple of times...and what thought this was a horse forum

:) Surely people can decide what posts to read and decide for themselves whether to get upset or not. I read the Athena thread and did not post any comments Nor did I feel in the slightest upset.

For crying out loud, I really DON'T think it was a genuine possible purchase... That horse is in Cornwall, so talk about money is not an issue it was just a general conversation, and yes they can be cagey about cash, but they can also talk about money.... You're not the only person who knows travellers and gypsies. I think it was a bit of a pipe dream non serious thread about a nice cob... I repeat, so they weren't really talking cash or purchase! Not truly.

And lee, I don't like the dd coloured... It's hangin and its pasterns look weak:p
