Bright bay. I wrote a huge reply and phone died, so the short version is that I personally think that anyone who thinks kicking a horse is an appropriate training method is scum. Going out with a foot simply isn't logical to me it's a step too far imo, as is face. Aside from being a strange response it's stupid, you've completely offbalanced yourself in that moment.
I've only ever seen it once when I've agreed with it. I witnessed someone caught in between two horses when leaving the field. She grabbed the fence behind and as the very well known to be vile (and should never have been out in the field as dangerous to horses and people) shod horse infront of her swung its arse she booted it and hopped over fence. Had she not done that and bought a split second there's no way she could have safely got over the fence without being kicked en route or gotten out of the way of the hooves. Not pretty to watch but it was a split second decision to get out the field alive.
