Pictures The Adventures of Cousin It!

Cousin It is adorable! I’ve loved browsing through his photos, and particularly love him stretched out in front of the fire. A pony who has fallen on his hooves!

I still haven't quite decided the best mode of transport for him!

So far I've been putting him in the trailer but he has to face backwards tied to the breech bar because he doesn't even notice the breast bar and goes straight underneath.
I'm looking into getting it modified for him, but he does also fit in the back of the landy... I just don't trust him with the windows!
I've often thought that a modified wheelchair accessible vehicle, something like a Citroen Berlingo with the windows barred or covered, would be perfect

Yes!
When I take him to mini shows I've seen several people with something similar, like the small vans as a mini version of your usual 3.5t conversion....

Might not be so useful for squeezing his big brother in though!

When I am a mad old lady, too crocked to ride, I will have many Cousin It's and they will pour out of an unmarked vehicle like a clown car 😂

He needs to become a therapy pony ❤️
This is one of my goals for him!
And one of the reasons he's a house pony, I want him to be happy in indoor environments, think we've ticked that box though 🙈

Many moons ago I did quite a bit of EAL and therapy work with full size horses. So I've seen some amazing outcomes.
The opportunity for minis to go into schools, hospitals, care homes etc and do positive things for people are endless.
I can't get insurance for him to do any 'community' outings until he's 4, but I'm hoping by then he will have seen enough of the world for it to be achieveable.

The joy he would bring!!!

Not sure if I should be pleased or mildly outraged on Cousin It's behalf.

Nice lady vet came out to do some routine bits for the proper horses today.
But for obvious reasons he's not really the type of thing that many people walk past without a word. Especially when he trots up to the gate demanding attention, mane tossing like a shampoo advert and trumpeting his squeaky little pterodactyl impression. 🙈

Cue the expected ooooh and ahhhhs and exclamations of 'oh he's so tiny!' As she kneels down for the obligatory cuddle...

Followed by a very surprised,
'Oh! I can feel ribs! He's not even that fat!'

I feel we need daily cousin it photos ❤️ seriously though these last few days have been tough for me but Cousin It has put a smile on my face
Sorry to hear you've been having a tough time.
Glad a little sprinkle of Cousin It magic has raised a smile though 🥰

For anyone having a bad day, just be glad you don't have to tell a shetland that you do indeed draw the line somewhere!
He's definitely not allowed on the sofa... 😖

He says he is allowed on the sofa, you are not 🤣🤣🤣

He is just so cute! Is he house trained? And if so, how do you house train him?!
Sort of!
He's never had an accident in the house, but I think my biggest aid with that is he's still entire and very tidy in pooing in his little stallion piles. So I leave the doors open and he just tootles outside when he needs to go. I do remind him when he's just woken up etc but 🤞 so far so good!

This is amazing. I think you must be a bit of a gambler

Emergency headcollar purchase managed, after freak fox related incident 😖

So all of my lot are in leather headcollars, force of habit, I'm a bit old fashioned and they look nice.
I have hooks on the gateposts, horses get turned out, headcollars go on hooks so they're handy.
Apparently Mr Red and Bushy is too lazy to do any pest control and also has zero taste buds, the cheeky sod has pulled them all down gnawed some to pieces and made off with the rest, lead ropes and all!
I hope the rotter has terrible indigestion.

Anyhow, Cousin It is not an easy creature to buy off the shelf for!
I've grabbed a foal size today which hopefully will do for now, but if anyone has suggestions for nicely fitting mini headcollars or wants to Google tiny and cute and accessorise him remotely I'm open to suggestions! 😂

@P.forpony these chapels did Shetland sized head collars that fit my standards v well with space to go smaller. If you get in touch with them to ask which is their smallest they are v helpful

We had a friendly fox take my gardening gloves and garden clogs left outside the front door overnight! Found one clog 50 metres away on the road 😂 i never knew they had such an interest in non-nature items!
Sorry to hear you’ve lost decent headcollars.

This fox followed me around the farm on a couple of occasions, and even so playful to play with and bite at my boot laces! We then played a game of search for a mouse under plastic weed suppressant fabric…jumping on target like an arctic fox sensing a mouse under snow!
He/she was really playful and totally unafraid…even playing hide n seek with our cat too 😁
