Years ago I helped with organising sponsored walks for WWF. We had several venues around the country, our local one was at Longleat House. There was a short route of about 3 miles which was marked and fairly level so it was suitable for children and those less mobile, and then a longer route which was guided as a group. A local celebrity (!) used to come and start us off. Many of the schools in the vicinity got involved. I'm not trying to alter your brilliant plans, and will certainly be up for taking my elderly Lurcher for walkies, but I think that this cause is very close to the nations heart at the moment and it would be a great opportunity to raise some serious amounts of money with some co-ordinated effort. Great idea, count me in here in Wiltshire (great walking here too!).

I've just asked about old fashioned sponsor forms on CR as someone on there says that justgiving take quite a chunk of the money.

It does but not as big as that post implied.
I think the best thing is have as many ways of donating as possible - so justgiving and old fashioned sponsorship forms - so people have the option of contributing which ever way is easiest for them.
Sorry to bang on about this (just need to get it clear in my head) - if we use sponsorship forms do we have to pay the equivalent to what we raise to the Just Giving site or do banks have a facility to pay cash directly into a charity's account?
Really sorry if I am coming across as particularly dim

Hopefully it could be paid direct to the charity, but will wait for someone in the know to enlighten us. Glad the amount just giving take isn't too high but suspect some of the people I nag to sponsor me would prefer the old fashioned way.
H4H can provide old fashioned sponer forms, so no problems there. However to get them, we need to register the event on the H4H website - this will be public info with all contact details etc including the JustGiving page. Therefore, I am going to wait until tonight to do this as hopefully by then I will know whether or not the justgiving page can be altered!
All those who would like paper sponsor forms - I will ask for a wodge from H4H and post these out. I will therefore need your postal addresses please, via pm!
I will pm my email address to those who need it too.
Re payment - I will check but I am pretty sure we can either send cheques, or pay in via a bank. I will check this with H4H but I am sure that this will not pose any problem at all.
So watch this space for more as I will be back tonight and hopefully we can make some headway. However at the moment I am organising big event for work next week so as you can imagine am totally buried, so won't be about much during the day.
Wow, I am so behind... you can definitely count me in with the Whippet and my terror.... maybe i could kidnap my Mothers Labradors and have a total riot!!!! Either East Sussex.... or around Cirencester (Woo Uni in 10 days) would be great for me...
Just seen this post! Wasted a good few work minutes catching up!
Well you can put my name down with 1.5 labs for the walk!
I am on the North Yorkshire/Lancashire border near the 3 Peaks & the Settle loop of the Pennine way. So if anyone fancies doing one round this area I will be up for a meet up!
I think this is a fab idea, and would love to take part, but am not sure I could do ten miles. Haven't walked that far (in one go!) since having the new hip. Can it be split between two people? Could my OH do the second five miles, for example? Also, it might be worth starting a Facebook group or mentioning this thread on there, as a lot of HHO'ers spend more time on there than here now.
Has anyone contacted the charity them selves to ask them how we could go about paying them? am sure they have a just giving account and can give references ect
Just to add - I am on the case with this but please be a little patient - I have got a lot of work on right now and not a lot of time (I'm posting this on my lunchbreak!). However I have emailed and tried calling JustGiving to get the page sorted.
Sponsorship forms
To get these we need to get an event number from H4H - this means registering it on their website. Now when we do this they ask for the JustGiving page - which is why I have held off, as I want the get ana answer on changing the address from my personal JustGiving account to a general one for the event. However I can't check this email account at work.
I am going to register this as a Norfolk event as that is where I am based - although of course this will be taking place all over the country, you have to pick a county on the H4H website so I'm picking mine
I hope to be able to sort this over the weekend - this means that sponsorship forms should arrive with me next week.
I am not in the country on Wednesday and Thursday next week as this is the date of the work event that is causing me so much stress! However, please rest assured that as soon as I am back in the UK, I will get sponsorship forms in the post for all who pm me to request them (thanks for all that have done them).
I will contact H4H about alternative methods of giving. JustGiving will not be the only route that we can use - no charity would ever limit itself in this way!
Now I really must go and do some work for the charity that actually employs me
But I will be back, either later this evening or tomorrow morning.
- so please drop me an email at hhobigdogwalk@googlemail.com and I'll send a link over! But please just bear in mind that it will probably be tomorrow before I get another chance to check now
Today I posted an announcement on our own internal intranet which could reach an audience of 5000! I have said they can join me or organise their own 10 mile walk in their area. Also gave the Just Giving link
Does anyone think it might be a good idea to produce some standard flyers that we could print off and put out and about?
I would definately be interested to do the walk...Thetford Forest for the East of England? May also be able to talk my sister in to it...so that would be a Newfie and a Lab. Will PM.
