Just caught up on the last page, I have been avoiding looking as it is all a bit close to home with having one who previously had an attack.

Sounds like both yours are going in the right direction though.

Trying to persuade Polly not to jog going to her pen is proving difficult, as she’s feeling much better now and is completely sound. Fat pads above eyes have hugely reduced. We are weaning off Danilon this weekend so hopefully she will remain sound (currently on half morning and night). Vet again next week to decide on next plan, which I think will be a good couple of months of the same- pen turnout and soaked hay.
We are in contact most days via email, so I feel very supported. Farrier is being great too. It’s times like these when you really appreciate having such a good team around you!

It’s honestly soooo stressful isn’t it. I feel like those fat pads are finally shifting which hopefully will make all the difference ?? I’m really holding my breath with the whole trimming situation, I know she’s only going to get fully better if it’s sorted, but feels so wrong to trim while she’s sore.
She was so good despite everything though so hopefully wasn’t too uncomfortable

She looks much better the pads are shrinking.

About time eh! Hopefully be able to avoid the course of levothyroxine if she continues to head in the right direction. We just have to cross fingers she’s satisfied that she’s thrown enough spanner’s in the works already ???

Walked out again tonight and we are pretty sound in straight lines, still a little hesitant turning but neck caused similar stiffness so it may just be she’s anticipating it to hurt rather than it actually does, not too sure.

Weight still going in the right direction, she’s full of it too ??‍♀️

Madame grumpy pants has returned because I refuse to let her take her headcollar off and escape ?

No heat/pulses/swelling for a while now so I’m crossing fingers we are past the worst ??

Farrier came today to have a little check and is pleased that we are back to normal. Turns fine, completely sound, no heat/pulses etc, not on any pain relief. Vet back Friday then farrier back next week.
Feeling very relieved but also very aware of how sensitive this horse is and how absolutely on the ball I need to be with her.

Farrier did say that years ago, once a horse got back to how Polly is now, it would be shoes on and crack on as normal. Very much all change nowadays!

So she’s definitely keen to go, but I’m still not 100% happy on her turning ? I’m wondering if it just won’t be 100% until next couple of trims are done and it’s all back into alignment.

We are however still bronco-ing round the stable so it’s only noticeable on hard ground ..

Weighed in at 210kgs today. So fair drop in a month

I'd be pretty happy with that! Sometimes I think the head down so low like that can make them look more pottery than they are (when they ARE feeling their feet they tend to carry their head down low, so when I see the head low like that I tend to assume they're footsore, but when she picks her head up she instantly looks better). Either way, I think she's looking great ??

She’s absolutely determined to use any time out the stable to scour the yard for unsoaked hay ? so keeping her head up is a challenge. She clocked an open stable door with a hay net hanging and took off towards it on way back to stable ??‍♀️

Vet back for a check up today. She got out of her pen last night, fortunately she’s still on a short field and is muzzled, but I’m panicking a bit. Seems fine but I’ll be on the edge for a few days. Battery was running low so I’m off out to get a new one this afternoon.

I wonder if that's a grey thing - my grey practices 'acoustic snorting' - a little known discipline where you snort into objects like buckets, boxes, to enjoy the sound.

Glad Madam is doing well. :D

Acoustic snorting ? so that's what my horse has been doing. Here I thought he was just a drama queen, I didn't know he was participating in "a discipline"

? she thinks she’s an Arab - spent too much time around them and the teeny percentage of Arab in her ancestry runs deep!

Mine also practices 'Scornful snorting' where she expresses her disappointment at poor service. Last weekend or so my partner shouted 'What have I done wrong - why is T snorting at me?' He had given her the wrong haylage, the horror!

Oh she does that to anyone she doesn’t like if they have the audacity to get too close/god forbid touch her ?
