Forgive my ignorance as I know nothing about breeding and genuinely curious but just saw this breeding on a connie... Is this common!? Surely it's a bit.. close?

Gosh I had no idea. Haven’t noticed it on any of the three connies I’ve had/have. Thanks all!

There's a stallion being marketed who is by Horse A and out of Horse A's half sister. To me that is too close

This is kira, expect there would be more repetition if someone filled in the blanks ?View attachment 67870
She has to be the first Welshie I've seen without Nebo Black Magic in there somewhere! Although Pentre Eiddwen Comet is and he's NBM's sire so maybe I should say I've never seen a D without PEC in its breeding now :D.
My old boy's breeding - only three repeats but they each appear 3 times! https://www.allbreedpedigree.com/sheadon+ebony

This also shows my old boy was related to both Kira and Rara's PB - the Welsh gene pool really isn't that big.

There was a discussion recently and 2 x 3 is fine 3 x 3 is better.

I've just looked at my WelshD - he has Nebo Black Magic in his 5th line (so his great, great, great grand line) SIX times :O
I'm amazed that he is as sane as he is!

We don’t have NBM but do have PEC but no repeats until the great grandparent stage

if you use the best lines to start with inbreeding is not needed, i am always on the look out for outcrosses and new bloodlines and never inbreed

So far my old boy is related to every single other D on this thread - he was born a long time before them (we lost him in 2005) but they all share ancestry - as I said, it goes to show the gene pool is a bit limited!
