Hi all, I have recently brought a new horse who is turned out in a herd and I have decided to boot him up when turned out to try and prevent any injuries occurring, only problem is.. He has 3 stockings and now has sore legs where his boots have been running! I started by putting bandages on under the boots which prevented the rubbing from the boots but is making his legs sore due to the build up of heat etc under the bandages. I brought some tubigrip which is thinner and didn't get hot and irritating but slips! So I'm now back to square one! Does anyone have any tips or recommendations for solid turn out boots (not the material type).

Thanks in advance!

I think you need to work out what part of the boots are rubbing. My mare gets rubs from any boots with binding around the edges. Woof Club boots & similar are OK for her as there is no binding. If that's the issue then perhaps try a different make/style
Also keeping them meticulously clean. Any grease or dirt will cause a rub eventually.
How long is he wearing them at a time?

I never thought I'd boot for turnout but I'm in my second lot of rehab for a field injury so I'll be looking at something like the Trizone All sports boots when we are signed off for proper turnout again. it's not going to prevent a disaster but every little helps :(
