does anyone else have a problem with their duo and the velcro opening at the front all the time? its driving me nuts as horse is getting a cold chest when out.

she doesnt roll excessively or charge round like a loony so it shd stay done up. ive had to buy a bib to go under the rug so she has a layer on when the rug opens at the front

what can i do?

ps ive already emailed Horseware about it and to be fair they have sent a reply almost immediately and think it might be a lack of material but i cant really see that as the case

Mine does exactly the same, it has done since the day I got it a couple of years ago

this is the email i sent them

Hi,

Im having real trouble with my rambo duo rug.

The front of the rug just wont stay closed and ends up with my horse getting a cold chest. The buckles stay closed but the velcro doesnt and so the whole rug almost peels back at the front so that you can see my horses chest.

Ive cleaned the velcro and made sure my horse isnt running around like a loony all day and that she isnt rolling excessively - which she isnt - as i thought this might cause the problem.

Please can you give me some advice on what to do? I dont want a whole winter with it open all the time as i'll have to buy another rug to keep her chest warm.

Thanks

and this is the reply i got

Thank you very much for contacting Horseware. We are very sorry that you are experiencing problems with one of our products. Especially with one of our RAMBOs as we have so much faith in them. As you have already cleaned the velcro and it still does not work, I would advise you to go back to your reseller where you bought the rug and have it inspected regarding lack of material. Unfortunately, you cannot return it to us as we do not sell our products to the general public and so the point of contract lies at your reseller. They will inspect the rug, and in case of lacking material, they will get back to us.

We are very sorry that we could not help you any further in this matter and I hope that your problem will be solved soon.

Should you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Kind regards,

you think that they are just avoiding the issue?

i have a duo as well and have problems with velcro i am also thinking of selling it and bying a fal
my duo also blows up and makes our horse cold as it's windy where we are.
although it does keep him dry

I had a livery with a Duo & theirs was the same. Obviously with a liner on it isn't a problem, but I think they stitched in a new peice of velcro in the end.

I've had my Duo for about 5 years it's still waterproof and an amazing rug all round

My front velcro stopped sticking after about 6 months; I took it to our local saddler and he replaced it for about £3.

I know that it should just be perfect when you've spent all that money, but I found it less hassle and stress just to change the velcro myself.

Horseware are right. You need to go back to the seller and they will resolve this for you. They need to have a look and then contact Horseware who will either replace or repair. Your contract is through the seller not with Horseware.
If the seller says they cant do anything for you, they are lying or dont know the facts of what they should do.
On a different note, are you sure the rug isn't to tight across the chest and the velcro pulling open?

I have yet to hear of one that stays shut to be honest..... Mine has never stayed closed, but I do think that a larger piece of velcro would solve the problem easily.

Have heard a lot of people say that the neck velcro gives up the ghost early too, but not had this problem...... Mind you I dont take it off everyday as he lives out..

I bought a Rambo Wug a few years ago. The lining ripped all the way down the spine. To be fair my horse played rough with his friend and I reckon thats why it ripped but after comparing it to my friends Wug, my lining was so thin. I took it back to the shop who agreed it was thin and they sent it back to Rambo. Weeks and weeks later it came back and they wouldnt change it or repair it saying it was dirty. It wasnt filthy or anything, just lightly worn. I ended up sewing it myself.
On the front velcro issue, My Wugs do the same and Horseware have changed the velcro fastennings on the Rhino rugs, its not just 2 pieces of velcro anymore but like a flap that closes on itself and is much better.
I reckon they are fully aware of the problem.

Yeah, I noticed that with my Rhino and it works brilliantly. I bought a Supreme after that which just has the 'normal' velcro and thought perhaps it was old stock. They should put the new 'flap' on all of their rugs.

found my Rambos to narrow in the chest. Doesn't say to much for the Rambo team does it.

I dont think you can blame Horseware for that. Thats why there are different brands on the market. One brand will not fit all horses but this is why they have the Rambo Exel. Masta hangs off my horse. I cant really blame Masta as they fitted my hunter great.

I cant fit in Top Shop jeans - bad Topshop! ;0
