Update on medial suspensory branch injury N/H

I'm not sure they all have the percentage of recurrence? given that the sites and severities of original injuries vary?

I guess we are all different. 40% is too high for me so I guess I would be like millipops (saw your update millie she looked fab!) which is where we are with Cally really but with no expectation that either her or mum will want to bother with flat work much, in part because they have no arena atm anyway.

I see your point Ester. When I was offered an operation on my disc I was told 1 in 500 suffer from paralysis. It was too high for me. 1 in 100 horses die under an anaethetic. That is a high risk, but unavoidable as for a GA its usually in the form of emergency surgery. 40% chance of reoccurence with a branch injury? Not sure. Was told that if it happens you follow the same procedure of rehab again. Was told that it doesn't increase the likelihood of total breakdown of the ligament which was my main concern. We are all different.

As my vet says there are hundreds of horses that have suffered this injury that have gone out to compete again at the same level or higher without reoccurence.

Applecart – I’m sorry, but your second post was completely unnecessary and it was antagonising (should anyone wish to reply in the same vein). Otherwise why post it ?

Your posts are like groundhog day. It’s the same thing over and over again.

As Millipops says, maybe it’s time you changed your expectation of your horses future capabilities and manage him accordingly. But I think, for all the people who regularly comment on your posts, that we all know this isn’t likely and you will continue as you do and in a few months’ time there will be another post about another injury. And people will reply in the same vein. And so it will go on.

As for your (numerous) infractions, I think this is as a result of your own behaviour and not other forum members.

That's a fairly common misconception.

How so? I thought it was to make like minded friends, share thoughts, ideas, help, aid, assist, share problems, give advice, relate past experiences, have fun, enjoy in the 'horsey community', laugh and joke, share good times and bad times, share worries, lift weights off shoulders and wipe tears from eyes, laugh at news and current affairs, talk about latest gadgets, trends and preferences, and above all, just be an all round support for people. You only get what you put in.

It isn't meant to be a bitch fest :D
I must take those rose tinted glasses off.

I thought the same. Millie did her leg when she put her foot down a hole on the gallops. So I would HOPE that by now keeping her on good footing, fit and balanced, that we won't put the leg in the same compromised situation that it will go again. As it was a traumatic injury rather than anything degenerative or repetitive, I hope the other legs will be 100% sound - in that respect at least (!).
I certainly wouldn't be doing the same and sticking her foot down a hole and going for a gallop, put it that way ;) I think that's why the odds are different.

thank you - really delighted with how she has come back :D

Meh, don't mind me; I'm just thinking out loud really :) The (possibly mythical) forum you describe sounds very pleasant.

well it's just like real life isn't it? If we all bumped into each other and got locked into a room for the evening, say, you can bet your boots that just as 10 people would bond over their love of hairy cobs, another 10 would have a fist fight over whether you should work a horse long and low or not!!

"How many HHO's does it take to phone for a locksmith?"
"More than 20."

Its nothing like and I don't see how you can possibly compare the two scenarios.

And I do keep him on good footing (apart from galloping him over hills and down dales, jumping round two xc courses whilst on my journey home from my ten hour hack, during which time I have cantered down lanes and popped a few five foot stone walls).

Jeez, keep your hair on! :mad3::mad3:

I was actually trying to be kind earlier. I was in a good mood and enjoying the conversation. In the post you've quoted I was just explaining the reasons why I wouldn't be jumping or galloping my horse again, having had one traumatic injury on that leg and hence wanting to avoid doing the same thing twice... well I guess you've alienated another person on this forum! I'm off to phone a locksmith!

And again !!

You are your own worst enemy OP.

Not sure what you mean but I can bet
a) its meant unkindly
b) its meant sarcastically
c) you are bitching again

How many did I get right?? Oh, 3 out of 3. Thought so :D

Err - really? I was agreeing - that you get out of a forum what you put in. I get a lot out of it personally. I've made a load of friends, who I spend time with in real life too. I regularly poke a bit of fun at myself for my horses shocking behaviour, and share some of their more ridiculous moments, all in the name of light entertainment. I've taken the odd bit of criticism on the chin on occasions, and I've fought back when I didn't feel a comment was justified. I've learnt stuff, and I've dished out a fair bit of pretty useful advice at times. I seem to have a very different experience of this forum than you do - but I'm not one for getting paranoid about perceived mean-ness, bitching and bullying.

It is a matter of supreme indifference to me that you think I'm the anti-christ - the people who actually know me, and who matter to me don't agree, and thats all I care about.

And you wonder why you get infractions !

Oh gosh yes I forgot, I get chastised for retailiating yet you and Auslander can say what you want to me and I have to accept it without saying a word.
Are you saying my answers are wrong and that Auslander didn't mean it that way? Come on - even YOU know that is not the case.

And the people that know my horse are a) the only ones whose opinions I give a flying duck about AND b)the people that know ME are the ones that I are about, not people on here that do not know either me or my horse!

Well - why have you got your knickers in such a twist then. You'd have a fight with yourself if everyone else left, wouldn't you?

Do you know what KS1 I don't really give a toss anymore!

Would you and your silly little cliquey friends like to go and give the administrators and shout and ask them to give me another infraction? I expect the word 'toss' can be interpreted and twisted to meet your needs if you try hard enough. Go on you can do it.

Maybe one day you will all grow up and stop treating this forum like a bitching platform and actually try to help people. I know its a concept that you will find hard to comprehend as you enjoy winding me up so much, but if you try really hard, somewhere in the depths of that thing that beats in your chest you might actually try to find some compassion, empathy and kindness.

Or maybe not.....

A brief trawl of their previous posts will show that, mostly, that's exactly what most of the people you are ranting at do. There are some very experienced posters in your firing line, who have all enriched the forum at various points.

I guess that is what I don't get, the accusations that this forum as used a platform to be nasty when I see all of the posters elsewhere posting on all sorts of topics to help people whether it be small stuff or big stuff.

A brief trawl of my previous posts (all 2,000 of them over my five + years on this site) will show exactly the same for me too. .

I have helped endless people and have never, ever called them names, told them to pts their animals, told them that they never call the vet out to their horses, constantly harrassed them or shown any unkindness whatsoever.

Its easy when you know how.

Nor do I trawl through their FB page or H&H posts and criticise them at every opportunity.

Yeah - but you dish out duff advice!

See, this is why I don't hack out in company - somebody always wants to go beyond dawdle!

<misses point>
