Update on medial suspensory branch injury N/H

Havn't read all the posts I've got to go to work but I would be trotting only on the road for at least 4 weeks !
Run around the school, for 5 mins then run on the road for 5 mins and see which one is harder work and more of a strain.

My vet and the top equine to where I refered insisted on it , start with only 5 mins though and increase this weekly by 5 mins until doing 20 mins then you can start cantering ( on grass not school )

Hi Lannerch

I said I wasn't going to comment further on this post as its totally pointless. However I will answer your question as you have been kind enough to post.

I am doing 4 x 3/4 lengths of the school twice a week for two weeks, followed by a further 4 lengths for the following two weeks. Our school is firm rubber which is very good quality and is reguarly harrowed and rolled. I will do circles as and when my vet says he is able to do them, but obviously I am doing straight lines in the school at present and stopping way before the 'bends' on the corners.

I am trotting about 15 strides approx five times whilst out hacking (mainly up slight inclines) on road surface.

The vet said it was IMPORTANT to subject the horse to different kinds of surfaces during his rehab period. Obviously there is a fine line between doing too much and only doing what the horse can cope with. As I have sucessfully rehabbed him with his near fore which was slightly worse the first time round than this injury, and bearing in mind that the horse takes more weight on his forehand, (60% rather than 40% behind) I think I will use exactly the same template as I did before which was crried out under my vets guidance and supervision. Bearing in mind all horses are different, and all injuries are different and as I keep reiterating this is a very slight sprain which was caught early and has a very good prognosis with a full return to work (as previous two on same leg were).

Thanks.

your aggressive retorts are just unnecessary. QUOTE]

Are you really serious???? If someone who knew nothing about your horse, was not a vet and was just out to wind you up, told you to pts your horse I think you would be slightly upset/angry/offended. If the same person or same 'group' of people told you that you were mismanaging your horse, you would also retaliate. So please don't come the moral high ground with me, because you would be exactly the same and would react in the same way. I think I am been very reasonable and fair with the way in which I have retaliated, and its took me many weeks to actually call anyone anything so 'nasty' as a muppet!

The last ten visitors to my page - four of which are continually causing upset and deliberately attempting to wind me up have been trawling through my posts like a flipping stalker! You are all in a little clique. You are one of them. You really ought to be ashamed of yourselves. You can dress it up how you want but you are just out to get amusement from winding me up and I think this is really sad and very pathetic and very juvenile playground behaviour. To trawl through posts to get a few words or a sentence that you can use against me is very silly and sad behaviour and you are showing yourselves for what you really are.

What makes it even sadder is that none of those comments about PTS/retire/mismanaging the horse were ones that either of my vets agreed with as I explained to you in my oringal post. Yet none of you had the decency to say, oh well I am glad your horse is on the right tracks to being mended/we have obviously made a mistake by what we said, sorry we said to pts/retire/we were wrong by our assumptions/judgements etc. None of you that said these comments have wished me well. None of those I am referring to exhibit good grace. Shame on you.

Felt moved to reply on this. I wished you well. Twice. Yet you called me a muppet!

I STILL wish you well. I STILL hope your horse recovers.

Shame on me ,,,,,,since when is commenting on an a thread compulsory .
You really really have a problem but since your desperate for one here's we go.
I don't like telling lies so I was refraining from commenting what I think as you would not like it and I have no desire to get into some sort of unseemly debate with you .

applecart please also be aware it is very easy to page visit by mistake when you are on a phone and reading a thread so please don't read too much into that list!

Ye gods! Some people really don't know when to drop the shovel and step away from the hole.

applecart14, if you don't like the comments, don't post. Simple.

I do understand where the others are coming from; working a horse that has the issues your's has, on surfaces you know he is going to struggle with (amongst other things) then telling members of a large online forum about it, are bound to result in negative comments. Getting all defensive and upset about it, then posting similar and once again getting upset and defensive, then repeating this behaviour again and again is helping no one.

You're happy with your horse and your vet's advice, that's great for you, get on with life, enjoy your horse and let what has gone before lie.

Good luck with Bailey.

But that's probably because those who have said if they had a horse with Bailey's issues (including me) they would stand behind what they said. Come the day Kali has the number of issues Bailey has, I will take a cold, hard look at his future. If I thought he would retire, I would do it - but given his issues (arthritis in at least one hock, navicular, one previous suspensory injury, hot temperament, propensity to self harm) I would give serious thought to having him PTS. I'm pretty sure I don't love him any less than you love Bailey - and I don't doubt for one second that you love your horse. But I'd be lying if I came on here and agreed with how you manage your horse - if Bailey were mine, I would manage him differently. Who's to say I'm right and you're wrong? Who's to say you're right and I'm wrong? Bottom line, you (for good reason or ill) lay it all out there for everyone to see - and people, being people, express their opinions. If you don't want opinions on how you choose to manage your horse, don't post every twist and turn on a public forum. It's really that simple. If you want people to pat you on the back and tell you are Bailey's saviour, it must be clear from the reception your posts get that posting his (it has to be said, rather lengthy) list of injuries on HHO isn't working for you. Whether that is unfair or not is irrelevant - it's a fact of life, no more no less. You are getting a rough ride on here - and whether or not that's deserved is up for debate - but you are also intelligent enough to realize that insulting and antagonizing people is unlikely to win you support.

You can take or leave what I have said - it is well meant. You have called me "false" . . . you have accused me of stalking you and being part of a clique - just because I have chosen to disagree with you. I haven't called you any names and I have ALWAYS wished you and your horse well - even though your behaviour and language towards me (and others on here whose opinion I trust and respect) has left a bad taste in my mouth.

You have mentioned more than once that you suffer from depression or anxiety - so do I - it's a sod, it really is. But it really can cloud your judgment and make you unnecessarily defensive . . .

. . . good luck with Bailey . . .

Nice post PS.

Erm she was listing Kali's issues.

Sorry PolarSkye , Ester is right, you were talking about your own horse.

I am so used to trying to defend myself and sadly so used to being slated on this forum that I reacted before I had chance to catch up with myself. Unlike some people I am not ashamed to admit when I am wrong and this was one of those times, so please accept my apologies PS.
