Urgent Advice Dumped Foal

Vet is still with us so just quick update.
Foal very dehydrated so on a drip and had a jab to fight infection.
Vet says foal is a little colt around 4 months. He is just writing feeding times and instructions. He is very poorly but vet agreed worth a chance but next few hours critical.
He thinks his leg is severe ballarenia toe (am sure he said that).
If he survives the night a stud vet will come first thing. If we are worried and that is an understatement we to call him straight back and he will likely pts
I hope all that means we are doing the right thing trying to save him have never heard of his leg condition

How old is this foal do you think OP? It sounds tiny and not far off newborn if it's wearing a dog blanket. Just a word of caution, if the foal is very young, water can be bad for foals and give them diarrhea. The milk replacer you are getting should help this little one. I'd advise bucket feeding rather than bottle feeding for the time being. The best result would be if a nurse mare could be found for the foal.

Edited as I've just seen your update. 4 months old, I'll bet the owners have just weaned it from it's mother in your friends field. What if they come and take it back in a month or so's time?

that's why OP's friend must report it .
Dumping coloured colts around weaning time is not uncommon as the kindly people who specialise in mass breeding of low end coloured horses ( there should get away with that ) don't like to keep them as they have to cut them and they will have seen he had an issue and dumped him.
It's unlikely they will return but if It's logged with the police it's protection for the foal if he makes it and OP's friend.

Someone sent me a PM, very sadly is not their missing foal.
We have not reported it yet but we are about to. I doubt they will do much if anything.
I know it is the right thing to do but we are worried will the RSPCA take him away.
Also we have done the worst thing possible and given him a name. Calling him it and foal felt wrong so we named him gamble as that what his little life currently is.
Everything is here from the wonderful lady from the foaling bank.

Shame it's not the same foal. This little fella is so lucky you are such a caring person and are doing everything to help him. I really hope Gamble makes it through the night and then he'll have a fighting chance. Great news that you have everything from the foaling bank.
Please keep us posted.

We have logged it with local police station.
Tomorrow I will inform the stolen horse register just encase there is a poor owner looking for him.

Im keeping my fingers crossed for the little foal, hope he makes it. Well done all involved ! Sending vibes ♡♡♡

They may not be interested but the police must log that it's been called in and if the poor little mite makes it then some toe rag will find it a lot harder to turn up and say that lady's got my straying foal and she won't give it back ,believe me stranger things have happened.

good on you for giving it a go, who is covering the vets bill?

My friend is going to foot the bills. Have to say vet was fantastic faced with two rather wound up women having a minor panic. On this visit he is only charging for the medication and not a consultation due to the situation. Am rather stunned wish he was my horses vet

Thanks for all the vibes
Gamble is a lot calmer than we are. A couple nervous wrecks sharing a pot noodle.
Hat off to all the breeders don't know how you all manage it. My nerves are shot.
Thank god the vet wrote instructions that pretty idiot proof.
A long night ahead but am going to be positive and not read about his leg condition. Sometimes net is scary surgery and splints and god knows what.
Still he sleeping in his rug and huge straw bed with old mare standing guard giving us the evil eye every time we move and the straw rustles
