I'm sorting through my horse stuff and was going to chuck a box containing a couple of cheap old stock pins in the bin. I opened the box for old times sake and was shocked that a pin I bought from ebay at least 10 years ago for a couple of quid, and which has sat in a damp lorry ever since was sparkling brilliantly. I thought it was some kind of pewter when it arrived, and it was far too small, so it never got used. I've just put some polish on it and it appears to be silver.

So, are they diamonds or CZ? Obviously I can't throw it away until I've had it valued, so how about you all take a punt at what is worth?

Winner gets the pin if they want it - if it's worth less than £25 - and the whole amount to a charity of your choice if it's worth up to £100. Over that I might just keep it!

The photo is dire because there's no daylight. The stones are absolutely sparkling. It's just about an inch and a half long, probably silver, not hallmarked,, but what are the stones ..........

I'll get it valued next week.

New rule no duplicate valuations under £26 and all valuations in round pounds, I can't split it if there are 2 winners 😁

If it’s not hallmarked it would be unlikely the stones are valuable.

I don’t think it will be worth anything but I would LOVE it to be a juicy row of diamonds! 💎 💎 💎

Nothing to lose with a guess at the value 😁

Is it hallmarked (or have any makers mark), and are you able to post a better photo tomorrow? 😁

ETA Also, you say it was sparkling when you got it out of the lorry- was that just the stones or the metal too (as you also say you've since polished it)?

I have a ring made with the stones I found in a ring lost near my house. That wasn't hallmarked but it was gold and the stones are diamonds which are currently valued at about £2k.

It was dull grey when I first got it and at £2.75 that I won it for in an eBay auction it never occurred to me before that it could be of any value.

Isn't this fun! 😁

It's really roughly crafted, doesn't look as if it was a machine that did it, looks hand made.

How long is the whole piece, end to end?

Am I being annoying now? Sorry, I am such a pedant and like lots of data before I commit to speculation 🤣

I am rather torn, as it would be unusual to set actual diamonds that size (presuming @ycbm isn't fooling us with a dolls house miniature replica) in silver rather than gold or platinum, but I suspect it may be hand forged/chased which throws a bit of a spanner in the works in terms of material choices...
