If it's old, is it more likely to be paste rather than CZ which are a relatively modern invention
I was just thinking about that tooThere was a thing on the Antiques Roadshow on Sunday about telling the difference between diamonds and CZ. Diamonds will have very sharp neat edges where the facets meet. CZ will be more rounded. You need one of those magnifying scopes to see that though.
Paste is made from lead and remains brillant .
Thanks for the update! Looking forward hopefully to a proper valuation later; from what you’ve just posted I think my £27 had been blown out of the waterBah, three jewellers open and no jewellers working today. But I could see the eyes of the counter staff as I showed them it. One did say it's almost certainly silver, but all of them had been trained not to make any comment on the stones and one was pretty well biting her tongue not to The sun shone and the stones are amazing in sunshine. I'm actually going to be surprised now if they aren't diamonds.
One woman definitely didn't want to be at work today.
- what do you want to do with it?
- I don't know until I know how much its worth
- well what are you going to do with it, sell it?
- I don't know until I know how much it might be worth
- Hrrrumphhh
I'm going to try my favourite guy in the next town over when we go out to football later. If he's not, then in it's tenterhooks til next week I'm afraid.

Probably best to stick with someone you can trustBah, three jewellers open and no jewellers working today. But I could see the eyes of the counter staff as I showed them it. It looks better in this photo, I really like it!New photo taken in sunlight. The stones are 3mm diameter. The colour differences are because they aren't set level in the mount. In real life they are all brilliant white like the second one on the left. The rough edges are the photo and the mount, not the stones, which all appear to be perfect to the naked eye.
