There was a thing on the Antiques Roadshow on Sunday about telling the difference between diamonds and CZ. Diamonds will have very sharp neat edges where the facets meet. CZ will be more rounded. You need one of those magnifying scopes to see that though.
I was just thinking about that too

Hehe, popped back on to revert my username and saw this so had to have a guess...

£20

I don't think it's massively old (first half of 20th century maybe) and think the stones are probably paste.

Will have to check back later now 😁

DD I can't believe paste or glass would have remained undimmed after ten plus years forgotten in a damp lorry cupboard. The box I had it in was wrecked! Plus you can't see in the photo but they really are brilliant, and they cut glass.

I think it's either going to be the £2.70 I paid in the ebay auction or thousands. If they are diamonds they are white and six matched stones 3mm diameter, far bigger than the ones in my ring valued at £2000.

I just have zero idea what to do with it if it's valuable. I don't need the money, I don't do jewellery much and have plenty, it isn't something I'd wear as it is and it would cost a lot to remount them in another form, and if it's old it would be a proper piece of hunting memorabilia and a real shame to break it up.

If they are aren't diamonds I'll announce the winner later. If they are diamonds I'll tell you the age if I can, and we can start again with everyone guessing what it's worth knowing they are diamonds and I nearly threw it in the dustbin.

Check back later folks!

Bah, three jewellers open and no jewellers working today. But I could see the eyes of the counter staff as I showed them it. One did say it's almost certainly silver, but all of them had been trained not to make any comment on the stones and one was pretty well biting her tongue not to 🤣 The sun shone and the stones are amazing in sunshine. I'm actually going to be surprised now if they aren't diamonds.

One woman definitely didn't want to be at work today.

- what do you want to do with it?

- I don't know until I know how much its worth

- well what are you going to do with it, sell it?

- I don't know until I know how much it might be worth

- Hrrrumphhh

I'm going to try my favourite guy in the next town over when we go out to football later. If he's not there, then in it's tenterhooks til next week I'm afraid.

Thanks for the update! Looking forward hopefully to a proper valuation later; from what you’ve just posted I think my £27 had been blown out of the water 🤣

New photo taken in sunlight. The stones are 3mm diameter. The colour differences are because they aren't set level in the mount. In real life they are all brilliant white like the second one on the left. The rough edges are the photo and the mount, not the stones, which all appear to be perfect to the naked eye.

Probably best to stick with someone you can trust

I'm going to stick with my £55 guess but clarify this is what they would offer you or at auction rather than an insurance estimate.

Even if it's silver and diamonds, they are little ones and it shocking how little jewellery fetches unless it has some sort of rarity value.
