Vile vile weather

I too was hopeful when I saw the forecast however it rain here yesterday and judging by the ground a fair bit overnight although the BBC weather said a dry few days .
I feel exhausted although the field is good and the horses have a lovely pole barn for shelter they spend a lot of time in the pole barn so I am putting out masses of haylege twice a day and mucking out 3 full barrow loads every morning and 1full barrow loads every evening as well as adding enough bedding to bankrupt me,!
As well as feeling constantly damp.
A large round haylege is barely lasting 3 to 4 days. When it usually does 6 to ,7 days
This constant heavy work is really dragging me down.
I pray we get an early spring 🌼🌱 and a dry one.
Seems the best way to judge the weather is to look out of the window!!!!

I’m also using a lot more hay as the grass is just so wet but having checked my field cameras today, my oldie is definitely eating much more grass than he has the past week or so I imagine it’s dried out enough now to be better to his fussy tastes
 
Is there anyone around the Loughborough area? I’m in Scotland, flooding looks horrendous, and I’m following the rescue of horses and cattle off of a flood plain. Does anyone have any updates on the ones that are under veterinary care?

Not too far away.
Chine House Vets had posted that the horses in their care had been considered to be well enough to be returned to their owner.
 
I've lived in my current area for over 10 years and it's never flooded like this before.
Nearly didn't make it to the yard this morning , all major roads in and out of town are shut and under water !
 
Huge amounts of water on the road this morning. Am thankful that I go so early there are hardly any cars around and I take my time. There was another tree down - when I phoned the emergency line the poor Council guy sounded so weary. It's lovely living in such a green county, but the downside is so many trees have keeled over. It's still there tonight, but someone's hacked at it with a chain saw and at least one lane is clear.

I am going through immense amounts of hay and straw chaff at the moment too - more than last year.

On the plus side my YO has had roofers in, and the hole in my stable roof has been patched. Happy dance!
 
Forecast dry today .It was sunny this morning looking good local farmer friend topped up the gates ways with stone and packed it down but this afternoon we had 2 horrendous really heavy hail storms thanks goodness he got the gate ways finished.
Would like just a few days where it doesn't go one step forward and 3 steps back!!!!
 
It’s stopped raining and temperature has really dropped here in Essex. Lots of black ice in the roads, one car in a ditch near the yard this morning.

I’ve been so careful with it this winter and kept moving my oldie round so he had lots of cover to mooch about on and not churn it up. The gateway is a bit nasty and I need to sort that by moving the fencing around once I have chance & luckily he doesn’t spend his days flying around. I put his hay as far away from the gate as I can too in one quarter of the field so doesn’t get mushy. Forecast snow tonight
 
My fields have dried quite a bit and I put them on the foggage this morning it's only a small paddock it will take a few days to be eaten down.

It was freezing today with sleet this afternoon.
