AE FWIW I'm sure you'll be fine at 5'6" on a 14.2 and having seen pics of you, you are not heavy in the least. Have you considered clipping all year round? It made keeping our grey so much easier and being part connie and being in hard work over the summer, it helped keep him cool too.

Elephant on course!! They have such cute jumps here, and lots of smaller ones for me. I managed to get lost and stuck behind a tractor, and it rained - me and boomerang stables do not get on at times. But the xc is fun. We think sj, not so much, bit underpowered for that part of the day. Also, finnegan hadn’t had his breakfast during the sj session so he may have been contemplating calling the rspca on me. No (actual real life) wallabies this time, they were round the other side of the arena, thankfully. And an array of strange and unattractive faces from us both at times haha.

I'm 15kg heavier than Katie though!
But neither of you are heavy - at a guess I'd say you're talking more about 45kg and 60kg - katie is super slim, as opposed to her being average and you heavier.
I'd say see how she goes but I certainly wouldnt rule it out, I think you could have tons of fun.

Bernster, those pics are fab. What a fab place

Oldie 48 - hope you are feeling better now. Bernster - we are just by Boomerang so my horse gets to see elephants and camels whilst out hacking (even if they are plastic ones a field away!). Well done everyone who has been out and about. We went out for the first comp since March yesterday. Had entered two tests but would have had 2 hour gap (though entering the two at the same level would mean they followed on but no in different arenas, I am sure if I had thought about it I would have realised that as one long and one short) so withdrew from the first as didn't want to hang around too long social distancing and all that. So we just did our music, not done since last October, tweaked since and not really properly practised as don't have right sized school. Discovered I need to lob in a bit more canter as got to where I thought the walk would start and ended up with more canter music but that was what I needed to find out. Everyone social distanced well and was well organised. They do have a huge lorry park so that helps.

Oldie48, hope you are well enough to ride soon!
AE I think the pony will carry you easily, get on and crack on ;)

So it did snow yesterday, I didn't see it (sleeping) but there is video evidence! It never settles down here when it snows, but the ranges look absolutely spectacular at the moment after a huge dump from this storm. Wind chill below 0, but I rugged up and took the two ferals out for a stroll. Mud is knee deep and the paddocks are standing water. Hopefully it will dry up this coming week! Ponying my youngster is always a fine line between her keeping up and negotiating with the Haffy about not kicking out at her :p

Aiming for a dressage outing in about a month, so need to pull our socks up and do some serious schooling (and that means less poking around bareback because I can't be bothered to clean my saddle when it's raining ).

Sounds like a nice weekend for everyone, enjoying reading the reports!

I can finally say we’ve gone out and done something on the weekend as we went out for our first dressage test!
I think we’ve come dead last but I couldn’t be happier with how he dealt with it. He hasn’t been out in a over year and suffers awful anxiety, I was dreading thinking about just trying to get him in the arena or how he’d cope in the warm up.

He was so chilled and relaxed (for him) about everything, he came off the trailer well, stood in the lorry park with all the other horses, warmed up well for the first time in a different school, arena boards and judges cars weren’t as scary as he imagined and he only called a few times during the test but mostly listened.

My first aim was just to survive and get in the arena without any world ending meltdowns which we definitely accomplished! My second was getting our transitions smooth which we also did as I got good comments on them. Lots to work on but so so proud of how he went. Will be joining BD Team Quest this year!

Well done to everyone out competing this weekend. Whether you come first or last, you’ve gone out there and done it and given it a go! ?

Well done Lammy, the first is always the hardest. You're only competing against yourself really so now you have a base line

Well done owned by a connie! You must be reasonably local to me! Are you doing other local xc soon?
Thank you! I’d like to give pachesham another go either schooling or hunter trial again to work on the napping! Want to try and get out to a few more clear rounds/show jumping. Just need to work on this reverting backwards when she’s worried about other horses. At home on our own she’s a speed demon!

Perhaps try a pairs class? That can sometimes help nappy ones, rider is a tad more relaxed too x
I'm hoping to pop over to Pachesham in a couple of weeks time, B Fuzzy detests their water though! Happy enough with Munstead and Wheatlands etc tho, dratted banana brain!

Yes think I might rope my friend in that is doing 85 today to come down to the baby level with me ?.

yes the water is gross at pachesham! Although a big tree has blown down and they’ve cut around it so it’s a bit more inviting now. I’d like to go try wheatlands!

the water at pacesham is tricky, dark, steep, and a bit murky. Finnegan can be similar on his own, although loves xc in company. Gonna give going solo a test run at munstead next weekend. I do love a little xc so pacesham and munstead are high on my list!

Yay! I'll see you there, I'll be the one chain smokin in the corner! ? It's B's 1st hunter trial there, she's gung ho in a group of more than just her, will be interesting to see how she goes on her own

We’ve been to camp! It was great to get out and Danny was fantastic, I wasn’t sure what to expect as he’s never been away before but apart from a bit of tension yesterday morning he was perfect.

We started with a dressage lesson on Saturday morning (Danny and I were first / second in both days). Great lesson with Levi Hunt. Then straight into a test in another arena, I’d nominated to do N37a which is a bit tough for us at the moment but I figured that’s what training is there for! Danny sucked right back off my leg and went very tense, which resulted in him losing straightness (he tends to fall through his left shoulder) and made the canter transitions sticky but there were no major blips. The judge is list 1 and excellent, he talked me through each movement afterwards at length and how we can pick up marks. I was pleasantly surprised with a 69%, I think he was a little generous in places (or maybe it’s the ‘bay warmblood’ factor at work...).

Next up was an in-hand session with Diane Thurman-Baker, which I loved. I’ve wanted to do something like that for ages and I’m not sure why I’d put it off! Dianne was very clear, pragmatic and friendly - just fab. We worked on the basic lateral movements, even having a go at half-pass.

Saturday evening we had a talk from the judge on accuracy. Then back on board for a lesson this morning. Lots more work on getting the ‘go’ button sharper and preventing Danny from dropping off my leg. Then headed to the test arena and did some work on how to get him going (gallop!!) when he loses confidence. Finished up with a run through of the test we’re doing next week. Danny then had an equissage demo, which he thoroughly deserved! We’ll both sleep well tonight...

It sounds like lots of good days have been had ? Especially jealous of those out Eventing!

Four year old Podrick met his first grid this morning. Carefully worked out where to put his legs and had a big smile on his face. At this point that’s all I ask of him. Very chuffed.

Mickeys out Eventing next weekend - can’t wait!

Loads of good stuff going on this weekend by the looks of it!
We survived SJ camp, it was really good fun and felt almost like being 'normal'. I've counted it as my holiday this year (5* luxury sleeping the the horse trailer!)
The horse jumped super but we are now both totally shattered after 4 sessions over 2 days
