More fitness work for me and B. He's not as unfit as I thought. We did 5 miles out hacking last weekend and he strode out like a steam train all the way. So longer adventures this weekend.
Tiny Taliban will be having a bath and a bit og show ring prep. We hopefully have a local show in May. He currently looks like a yetty with frizzy hair.
Have fun everyone - enjoy the sunshine ?

Working Sat and trialling dogs Sunday. Hot again here, dunno when it’s going to cool down and rain, my paddocks are a dust bowl. Malachy is going XC for the 1st time next week.. I think the jumps will be ok but I will be impressed if she gets him into water, he’s not a fan. Good luck to everyone competing!

Michen - That leg wafting is kinda cute, but annoying for you I’m sure. Pawing is annoying, that’s finnegan’s go to when he’s tied up and wants to move. Leg waving is a new one!

Hunter trial on Sun :) only a 60cm as it's our first comp for absolutely ages so wanted a nice confidence giving round (hopefully!). Tried a nose net on Buzz yesterday and although the pollen headshaking was dramatically reduced, the 'get this off my face' shaking was increased :D he'll have to get used to it as it worked really well!
The other (slightly, to me anyway!) good news is that we did our 'jump club' yesterday, popped a jump up and jumped a few times then we both realised it was about 10cm bigger than we thought and we weren't scared to jump it...progress!

I think my livery (well her daughter) has accidently qualified for the pony club champs at Bicton. It was only her second time out jumping and in a class of 30 odd. So we are going to increase the size of the riding paddock (I like to call it the 'arena' LOL) and pop some jumps up so she can practise in between lessons at home. So, that's another job for the weekend.

Yes ISH. She is by Beach Ball who is a successful Showjumping stallion (Obos Quality and Echo Beach) and out of an eventing mare. She is really big and solid so I wanted some refinement and hopefully end up with a slightly smaller mare. He's only 16hh/16.1. She is 16.3

So the foal should be pretty nice! Assuming I can ride one side of it. Amber is temperamentally very kind and willing and supposedly so are the offspring of Ansiei. But I can be an owner even if I don't ride her myself. (I am manifesting a filly.... I really REALLY want a filly!).

We have had a busy few days (clinic, lesson and treadmill), so Maddie will be having a day off tomorrow, and I will be dressage writing at a local BD venue. On Sunday we will probably play around with a bit of in hand work as we have a clinic with Diane Thurman-Baker next week, and although we did lots over the winter months, we haven't done any for a few weeks so I would like to refresh it a bit before we go.

I did a write up from our Andy Thomas clinic on Wednesday if anyone is interested. I really enjoyed it and would thoroughly recommend it whatever discipline or level you ride at.

Hope everyone has a great time whatever you are up to! :)

Slightly off topic but my big chestnut boy (17.3 IDx) is by Beach Ball ☺️

I enjoyed my Charlie lesson. Lots to work on before our BD debut but I’ve been assured that we won’t embarrass ourselves ??
Trying to get stills off the indoor camera ??

Thanks. They are a lovely family and its nice to see her doing so well as she works really hard with her riding and helps with her pony too. Its only a few extra fence posts and they are going to help so not a big deal for us really but it will help her riding and mums pocket as arena hire gets expensive.

Been out for a lovely ride of about 5 miles this afternoon. The sunshine and fresh air really does raise your mood.

Beach tomorrow and a gallop over the common Sunday! I felt like we were making actual progress with schooling, and started to pencil in some shows, but I schooled today and it was like the last 4 weeks hadn’t happened . She’s definitely not happy in her current bit (NS turtle top) but the bombers ported straight bar also isn’t quite right. I’m tempted to try the Bombers single jointed lock up but feeling a bit ‘blah’ about it all. Hopefully a few fun gallopy days will remind me what it’s all about!

Lesson for us - absolutely knackered today so hoping I feel a bit more energetic for that! I believe that we may reintroduce some jumping and I hope we can talk about my 'plans' (god forbid!!) for the summer with teacher - feeling slightly daunted about that but I know she won't snigger :) :) Hopefully to hack out over the hills on Sunday - the spotted beast would love that but Alw needs more work.
