Just had a lesson so that's the extent of my plans ?

OH has started taking bits off the lorry so I'm calling that progress! There may be plans in the future then ? I've given a deadline which seems to have stirred him into action ?
Otherwise, potentially more fencing, which is necessary so that the tiddlers can go on their summer holidays to let the nursery paddock recover. It depends what more exciting jobs turn OHs head though ??

Kira in the sunshine ? feeling more like her old self every week ?20210422_125158_compress41.jpg

Kira is looking fab MP!

Bob is off eventing! Kelsall for the 3* short. Dressage tomorrow late afternoon and then showjumping and cross country on Saturday before lunch! Fingers crossed for a bit of sunshine as I'm on grooming duty.

Good luck Bob ?

Long way to go for little cob features but she's getting fitter each week. Feels hard going but she's 16 now and was off nearly 6 months so shouldn't be a surprise really.

Kira is looking ace MP.

Not much for us, I am helping my sister move house on Friday so not much time for pony fun. I need to record Ele 55 for this months e-riders test (still not ballsy enough to do a real life ele test, I'm going to get AF's out of the way first) so will probably do that on Sunday.

I do have 2 to ride tomorrow which will be nice, a friend is busy so has asked me to school her gelding who is such fun.

Hope Kelsall goes well Jeni

I was expecting to be fence judging at Kelsall on Fri & Sun but it turns out they overlooked my email signing us up for it, so now we’re on the backup list and no idea if we’ll be needed or not ?

I’m not cross - mistakes totally happen and I should prob have chased it up earlier - but we were really looking forward to it! Gahhh.

Kira really is gorgeous MP!

It’s a quiet weekend for us. Going to pop him over a few jumps tonight because I’ve lost a bit of confidence hacking and I don’t want to flat after last night’s utter garbage. I decided against Vale on Sunday even though there’s only 5 in the class and still time to enter. I just don’t feel prepared enough and didn’t want to get to the cross country and be eliminated or retire at one of the first few fences so got a cross country lesson in the next few weeks as we are both very inexperienced and it’ll be a good start to the rest of the things I have planned for the summer. So now he’s got physio tomorrow instead of in a few weeks

Hoping to get Jojo fully integrated so that he can be in the barn during the day. No rush, though, if we don't get that far it's fine, he can stay in the field.

Probably hacking Deza, she's done enough schooling lately to sort out why she was rushing transitions. Pretty much sorted now, and planning to teach her to jump soon, if she's keen to do it. She's not built for it, so I won't be forcing her if it's not her thing.

Ludo will be schooling to try to get to the bottom of why he is shrinking back and bringing up his head on corners and transitions. I don't know if it's stroppy sixes or if he's carrying an issue somewhere (other than a lop sided old rider!). If he doesn't go more consistently forward soon, I'll need some reassurance that he's physically OK to confront the issue a bit more firmly.

Let's hope this sun lasts :)

Managed to get out for a XC lesson with trainer this morning, so we're all set for first BE of the season at Solihull this Sunday. Hoping ground conditions aren't too ridiculously firm... but can give him an easy spin round so long as not like concrete. Just in the 100Open for his warm up run before we kick back on at novice again.

Baby horse turns actual 4 on Saturday.... and for his birthday, he will get to experience going on the lorry to a little arena hire for the first time :D

Basically...nothing.

Horse got one of his upper molars extracted on Monday due to an abscess at the root. Came home on Wednesday. All is going well well that. He's eating normally, but still some swelling, and the bump on his face may never go away.

We'll be hand walking and hand grazing to begin to slowly introduce him to grass again. Hopefully the fields open next month ?

He's already lost so much muscle and condition from being out of work/in light work. Going to take me ages to get it all back since he's a fat man in a horse suit.

Feeling a bit blah anyway about the horse stuff. Going to live both vicariously (and full of envy) through all of you getting out and about!

He was slightly concerned that we left his tooth behind..Screenshot_20210422-174451_Gallery.jpg

More of the same for Rose but she's starting hacking again so that will please her. I'm visiting my daughter tomorrow, I haven't seen her for ages so am really looking forward to it. she's fully vaccinated and so am I so we can have a cuddle in safety! We've got viewing for the house on Saturday and Sunday, I hope no-one likes it.

Had a wonderful hack up on the downs this morning, v fresh but bright!
Farrier for both of mine first thing tomorrow.
Then I have a lesson on Sat! V exciting, will just be walk and some trot for 30min but still, it’s progress! It will be 5 months to the day of his keratoma op, so good progress I think. He’s feeling like a different horse this year, so much more solid and softer, if that makes sense?! I think another couple of weeks building up the trot and we’ll be ready to start adding canter ?

Yay, I can finally join in again ?

I have a Charlie Hutton lesson booked for tomorrow and then on Sunday I’ve got two going to a friendly pole-work clinic at one of the yards across the road.

I’ve just registered two of mine with BD so hoping to get out soon now that I’m back riding. ?
I had a lesson with CH at a weekend camp and really liked him. I found him very approachable and he gave me a lot of confidence.

Thought you’d been quiet blood magik, hope all ok.

Had booked onto a chiltern ride but prob won’t go. All a bit busy at home and could use a quiet day at the yard. Might do some jumps instead, help my friend video her online dressage test, and sort some kit out. Loan horse is going hack to her owner on Sunday - I will miss her cuddles, she’s the sweetest mare. Will try not to blub too much!

Quiet one here this weekend. Will just be hacking the three of them, and maybe tickle a bit more schooling with Arts since I've entered some tests that we are not really ready for the following week. On Saturday I am helping out at a riding club dressage comp, which will be lovely to see everyone out enjoying again ?

Have spent most of this week galavanting around the forest. Love this time of year. Evening forest pic:

I was so nervous the first time I met him but he was lovely... it’s been a while since I’ve had a lesson due to COVID/health issues so hopefully he’s still as nice (and I don’t embarrass myself ?) ?

Quite looking forwards to it actually. He’s not seen the big lad before so I’m excited to hear his thoughts

I went out dressaging yesterday with the big lad. He was very enthusiastic. We ironed out some issues we had last time, but I overrode the medium canter into collected canter and got a change. Otherwise I was really pleased.

As to the weekend, no major plans. Just trying to improve before pet plans at the end of May. I need to be less of a hunchback for one thing ?

Bog has an SJ lesson. He had a routine vet check this week and is looking really good. God does he need some harder work, we’ve just been hacking in walk as ground so hard. He’s being such an excitable little toad so we’ve been doing lots of half transitions. He has got one up on me as now to show his displeasure about standing he does this (instead of dancing around).

He doesn’t paw, he just “begs”, holds his leg up like this (sharer on him now) And it’s really hard to tell him off as he likes to use any sort of aid as a “oh you mean walk, great, just what I wanted”. He does this when he’s tied up and wants attention ?

I’m being outsmarted by 15hh of obnoxiousness.

Bear is having six weeks in the field and possibly more. He has had a really mild lameness issue and whilst much better and really intermittent it’s not 100% and is only under saddle. Vet was easy either way whether we “rehabbed” or rested so choosing resting for now, just in case it’s not a weakness that needs rehabbing if that makes sense. It had mostly but not entirely blocked to the fetlock which was medicated but nothing to see on scans or x rays. It would be so easy to carry on hunting for a cause and it may well just be a weakness but I think sometimes it’s important to just breathe, take a step back, look again in a month or two. We will hop back on for a check up in June and then make a plan if it’s still there. He’s also bum high again, so the time to level out will do no harm.

Maybe just growing pains Michen, hopefully. FWIW I'd do what you are doing.

Yes, I’m not too worried. He feels good, he’s a happy little chap. We’ve been pretty thorough (I even had the front feet blocked because, well, ya know ?).

Hopefully he won’t get too fat and feral!
