Weekend plans :p

Wow dabdab that sounds crazy! Well done :)

JFTD - very jealous of your polocrosse! I took part in a few lessons when I was at uni and it was great fun! Not sure J would be up for it though....

Thought i'd do a little report to follow up my first weekend plans post :p

So it was only the yard fun show (we raised money for some more yard equipment), it was all casual dress and plaiting not mandatory (thank god!), but it was so much fun to get some of the yard together and spend a day hanging out. Everyone was so nice and encouraging as we had varying levels (and confidence) of riders taking part.

My dressage time was 9.30. Got J in early to make sure he was presentable (read: clean) and think through my test one more time! Warmed up in the indoor where they had set out the jumps so that perked him up a bit. Then made our way over to the outdoor to start. All in all J was well behaved and I was very pleased considering it was our first actual test and being judged! Most of the comments we got was what I expected but we did get a few 'tense' comments for our work by C, this was because they'd set up the judge and writer at C (literally sat in chairs in front of C as there's not really anywhere to sit behind) and J had to have a good stare at them everytime we went past! But we got nice comments for our tempo and rhythm in the trot and we got nice steps for our free walk (just needs more activity) and good straightness down the centre line which was good because he can be a bit of a banana sometimes!

We came 3rd (out of 5) which I was super pleased with as I wasn't expecting anything! Cue my first 'rosette' (see pics: just fun rosettes).

Then my OH jumped on to have a go at the jumping 'with a twist' - The twist was you jumped the course with the horse then jumped off grabbed an egg and spoon and jumped them yourself :D time faults for poles down or dropping the egg. Again J was massively well behaved, OH has only been jumping properly for a couple of months or so and they both did brilliantly! J was very careful over all the jumps and didn't touch a pole - They came 1st !

After lunch we did TREC style activities (with me back on board), though it was decided not to place anyone as we were all having far too much fun laughing and watching each other so the competition aspect got lost! I thought J might resort back to his nappy behaviour with lots of people on horseback in the field in lots of different places but he was well behaved and did all the activities without fault :)

We also had a BBQ and tack sale so a proper successful day! The liveries who organised it did really well.

J thought the whole day was thoroughly exhausting and had a good snooze.

Sorry for the essay! Pics below:

Thanks all! It was really good fun and gives me a bit of confidence that, after a bit more work, we might try and head out to a few comps not held at the yard!! Though J is 16 now so I probably need to crack on :D :D

Wimbles that's a brilliant photo!

We had a mixed day at Keysoe 70ODE. A passable dressage, despite being a bit tense/choppy and wobbly, we got 32. SJ was ok, 8 faults but 4 was pilot error as I went the wrong way then hoiked him round on a terrible line. Pleased to even get round however, as we've just hit a bad patch in our jumping so I was dreading it.

XC, hmm. Well, we made it out of the start box and over the first two fences, but it went pear shaped from there. Cricket score leading to an elimination - I missed out two fences as I didn't have the energy or inclination to re-present!

There were some good bits I suppose - we did it, despite me feeling totally daunted and a bit sick for most of the morning. The tacking up and warming up all went smoothly (although it's pretty full on and each element comes around far quicker than I realised) and we came back in one piece. But lots to work on and, having felt like we were doing ok only two weeks ago, I'm now not sure we'll be doing our Wobbleberry Challenge this year after all.

Have given up trying to work out how to post pics or videos on here but probs for the best anyway. Is there a good post on how exactly to post pics n vids, as I've uploaded onto you tube and tried imgur but can't fathom out how to link stuff?

If you click Go Advanced when replying, you see all the buttons and editing tools.. one of those is a little film strip. Click that and it will do the work for you. Click the little picture button and paste the full link for your photo.

Love the positive approach in your video :D

Well, our extended weekend went well. Millie had a little trip to Kings today, after the super score she got at her last outing I thought perhaps we ought to do another medium and see if we could qualify for winter regionals... she hasn't been to regionals since her first season out at Novice so it would be nice to take her. And then a spin round AM85.

She had her flu jab on Sunday and was still a little under the weather, so I nursed her round a bit... for 68% in the medium, completing her winter Q ... and 66% in the AM. 2 red frillies and a bit of diesel money., what a good egg.
I think she might be a one-test horse from now on, getting the real quality work from her is quite tiring for her on top of travelling, but she did what she needed to today, *proud* and a lovely comment from the judge about her training going the right way and us having a nice partnership - that's what it's all about, to me :o

How lovely, well done MP on a fab outing. Amazing that she's out and about smashing it again

Hmm, I had to ride a VERY positive round sj and xc - I could be heard in the next field along apparently. Boyo seems to have lost his bottle a bit jumping so I needed all my energy to encourage him. Dropping right back down, to see if we can recover.
