Wow dabdab that sounds crazy! Well done
JFTD - very jealous of your polocrosse! I took part in a few lessons when I was at uni and it was great fun! Not sure J would be up for it though....
Thought i'd do a little report to follow up my first weekend plans post
So it was only the yard fun show (we raised money for some more yard equipment), it was all casual dress and plaiting not mandatory (thank god!), but it was so much fun to get some of the yard together and spend a day hanging out. Everyone was so nice and encouraging as we had varying levels (and confidence) of riders taking part.
My dressage time was 9.30. Got J in early to make sure he was presentable (read: clean) and think through my test one more time! Warmed up in the indoor where they had set out the jumps so that perked him up a bit. Then made our way over to the outdoor to start. All in all J was well behaved and I was very pleased considering it was our first actual test and being judged! Most of the comments we got was what I expected but we did get a few 'tense' comments for our work by C, this was because they'd set up the judge and writer at C (literally sat in chairs in front of C as there's not really anywhere to sit behind) and J had to have a good stare at them everytime we went past! But we got nice comments for our tempo and rhythm in the trot and we got nice steps for our free walk (just needs more activity) and good straightness down the centre line which was good because he can be a bit of a banana sometimes!
We came 3rd (out of 5) which I was super pleased with as I wasn't expecting anything! Cue my first 'rosette' (see pics: just fun rosettes).
Then my OH jumped on to have a go at the jumping 'with a twist' - The twist was you jumped the course with the horse then jumped off grabbed an egg and spoon and jumped them yourself
time faults for poles down or dropping the egg. Again J was massively well behaved, OH has only been jumping properly for a couple of months or so and they both did brilliantly! J was very careful over all the jumps and didn't touch a pole - They came 1st !
After lunch we did TREC style activities (with me back on board), though it was decided not to place anyone as we were all having far too much fun laughing and watching each other so the competition aspect got lost! I thought J might resort back to his nappy behaviour with lots of people on horseback in the field in lots of different places but he was well behaved and did all the activities without fault
We also had a BBQ and tack sale so a proper successful day! The liveries who organised it did really well.
J thought the whole day was thoroughly exhausting and had a good snooze.
Sorry for the essay! Pics below:
