FW, C looks Fab, as do you of course!

Have you planned your wobbleberry challenge yet?

We booked a last minute jump lesson with a new instructor (to us) and it was fab, jumping way out of my comfort zone but to was so encouraging! Loved Ruby, and said some really nice things about my riding her and how well she's been produced which was nice as been having a bit of a wobble lately!

Really looking forward to RC SJ'ing tomorrow! :)

Gratuitous fuzzy photo!

Thanks. Videos looked great from your lesson.

I'm not planning anything at the moment. Just working on the SJ side of things because I feel until I've mastered SJ on a flipping SJer there's not a lot of point trying to do any xc with him lol. Going to do some dressage tomorrow which will be interesting as I don't know either test and have no way to practice (it's being called!). Obviously I will need to have more opportunity to actually learn the BE test before I do it.

He saw the physio today and she thought there wasn't much wrong that the right work won't fix. Said he's got a lot of the wrong sort of muscle on his neck because he is resistant (chicken and egg there!) but nothing painful that time and correct work won't cure which was good to hear. Don't think it will be cured by tomorrow tho but oh well :)

Had an awesome day at a BE taster session at Attington Stud in Oxfordshire. I was worried it would be a bit too much for us and there wouldn't be any smaller xc stuff. Turned out to be a really good day, and within my comfort zone, to the point where I felt maybe this challenge of doing a BE80 is actually achievable!

Still too much flapping and kicking from me on the approach, but it's something I'm aware of now so we can practice that at home.

Really pleased with how settled Finnegan was through the day, took it all in his stride and was perfectly happy - so long as he had his hay net!

Not much happened but I had another lesson today and it went really well. Worked on my position again and accuracy as horse has a tendency to be lazy and if I switch off, he takes that as a cue for he can spook at things and not do work. He just needs constant guidance but he is green so to be expected. Pleased though, instructor has seen a big difference in us in a short space of time. Going to keep working in what he told us to work on and hopefully we will keep improving. :)

Well I don't normally post on this thread but here goes. My lesson was cancelled on Friday which was very sad for my trainer as he was in hospital and disappointing for me as I wanted to go through E43 prior to doing a test ride, so I played around at home and discovered all the things I found difficult but didn't really get them sorted. I took Mr B to Milliepops on Saturday, she's going to take him out a bit to help us to get over our fear of the warm up (following our incident!). I love to watch MP ride B, she rides him beautifully and he looks a picture and it inspires me.
This afternoon I went off to do my test ride with a list 1 judge. I usually take the easy option and have my lesson first then do the test last but I decided to be brave and do the test first. He warmed up really well but could have done with 5 or so more minutes. We scored a mark shy of 65% but I was really pleased as there's a lot in the test and tbh we were not well prepared. I chucked lots of marks away with inaccuracy, usually late transitions and missing markers, but generally the test was OK. Really pleased to get an 8 for the med trot and thrilled to get a 7 for med canter as I usually bottle it. The mark isn't really a reflection of Mr B's ability as he's so much better than that but I just feel so much more confident these days and we are making progress together which put a huge smile on my face! Judge said "a forward going positive test" which it was. Yeah!

From the ones i've done the BE90 tests are all very straight forward, i've had to learn them a few times in the lorry on the way there, you'll be absolutely fine! How did it go today?

Bern star your pics look awesome, i'd love an all weather XC near here - they are all 2 hours+ away! Have you planned your wobble berry challenge yet?

Oldie, sounds like you had a good day, out shame about your lesson being cancelled, hope your instructor is on the mend soon!

We had a fab day at the area SJ'ing, Ruby was just awesome, i feel like i say that a lot on here, but she really is! She just gets on with the job and tries her little heart out <3 We were clear in the first round and had an unfortunate pole in the 2nd, she was absolutely flying! I couldn't buy half the pics of her looking awesome because i was just clinging on for dear life! But heres a few when i managed to get my act together!

That's brilliant oldie48!
Bernster, fab fab fab photos, you're doing BRILLIANTLY!
ETA: LP also fab photos from you :)

Sounds a great weekend all round, I didn't ride yesterday after all but did hack N out today with someone who's rather stressy (rider and horse), so was a little nervous about how he would react but he was pretty chilled after a tense start.

Big weekend in the end for baby Skylla as she had her second ever rider.

I was worried she would be nervy about a new rider after all the napping and bouncy tension of the past few months, but she was utterly foot perfect :). So proud.

Great pics LP.

It went ok I suppose. You know for a first attempt. ;) Lots to work on. Judge was lovely and really complimentary about him and what the future holds for him. Gave me some tips and said he's going to be amazing.

Be gentle, and yes I will attempt to stop looking at my horse and lengthen my stirrups by a mile for a start.

Probably going to ditch the neck strap and air jacket next time as well, as my 7yr old daughter said it looks a bit silly. Cheers darling.

I'm sure she wouldn't tell WFP he looks silly in a neck strap, he doesn't ride without one! If it's good enough for him.... :wink3: well done, great start to your career together

Oh she probably would she is quite opinionated . Does he wear one on a rock steady ten year old for unaff dressage. I'm thinking probably not. The judge asked me how old he is and I'm sure that was down to me being dressed for XC :)

Amazing well done!! Really positive comments and a couple of 8's in there too!

Have you got another planned yet?

I always wear my neckstrap apart from the actual dressage test, I still warm up in it and whip it off last minute, only reason being is that it annoys me in the photos because she has such a short neck anyway, it makes it look worse! Its been ages since shes done anything to warrant it, but its more of a safety blanket, so if you want to wear one, wear it with pride!

She is amazing, i just try and hang on and interfere as little as possible, something which i fail at most of the time! :D

Munstead is lovely! From your pictures and posts i'm sure you'll be more than ready by then!

I'm sure once you get back out doing it you'll be fine. You were really brave last year!

No more dressage planned as yet. Lots of lessons planned tho. Had the physio on sat who wants me to get him stretching down. Teeth today. It was good to do it because things like turning him down the centre line compared to a 14.2 cob is interesting! Was the same when I started jumping him tho would end up about 4 feet further on than I thought I would when I started the turn so just got to be ready for it. I am really lucky to have two brilliant coaches one as SJer and one an eventer who is now specialising more in dressage so going to spend plenty of time with both of them and work on the things I need to work on.

I will keep the neck strap for jumping although I have realised recently I am better not touching it as it actually causes me more problems than it solves. He's never put a foot wrong under saddle. I'm just such a big baby.

That is seriously impressive. Saw a bit of your vid on FB, he has an awesome trot. Although not sure how you're not boinged off, it looks so active! Neck straps ftw!

Everything crossed, though Skylla is still upset at the 'Greyist' attitude ;).

Grey is a ridiculous colour. It's pretty and eye catching. But ridiculous, from a washing perspective. I'm such a masochist, I even attempted some showing last year with my grey poo monster. Not sure I can bear that again this year...

Exciting times Jenni_ :)
Sounds like everyone had a very productive weekend.
Bernster, Attington looks fab! We're debating whether it's worth the trip or not as we've only got youngsters and have yet to take them anywhere.
LP she really is flying now, you must be looking forward to this season :)
We had a fairly quiet one. Did our third solo hack on Saturday, which was also the longest one she's done, so we made the most of living near a lot of lakes and went through lots of puddles, the ditch of doom (puddle) apparently still has an invisible 4ft showjump over it :p it's literally 2 foot wide but needs leaping like an idiot everytime whilst we can trot through / pop others. And I took her down our mini water jump - 5ft steepish slope in and out of the old gravel bottomed canal which is about 6ft wide with a foot of water in the bottom - she's the first one I've had that tried to jump it :D but we got through to the otherside without drama and that's the important part.
Then Sunday we did an arena hire to see if the turtle top was effective with jumps involved... slight case of yeah but no but... she was settled in front of the fence but I need to sit up much quicker afterwards as otherwise she bogs off, but much better in her mouth so... not writing it off but we need to work on it I think, the mouth piece is definitely better than the eggbutt snaffle so happy with that, a lot will change with schooling but it's hard to be light in the hand in front of the fence when you know she's going to bog off on landing given half a chance and that's a mindset challenge for me :) .

well done to everyone out and about this weekend, sounds like loads of positive stuff :)
we did our course jump clinic on Saturday with a local BE trainer, no photos sadly as no one to take them for us, but my friend and I both have similar age and level horses, so we had a great time, my boy jumped beautifully and ended up over a decent metre plus course with no dramas. things to work on are a more positive forward canter and we are still struggling at times with left canter correct lead - trainer gave me some tips to try and stop me pulling him round with my inside hand ( which is basically causing the problem)
Sunday we went to do some dressage , Novice 24 at a nice low key local venue. all went pretty well, we gained second place even with a silly course error and qualified for the Sunshine Tour in September.
we used the trainers tips and got correct left canter leads ( YAAY) I made a few accuracy at marker errors costing us valuable marks, (had an early 60's % test but should have managed mid plus!) but managed some proper medium canter and trot strides ;-)
still lots to work on at home .. will try post couple of photos from the day
