Can't wait to finish work! Clear round jumping at the yard today.
Only jumped Bruce for the first time last Saturday, so should be interesting! He was much more confident than me: ears pricked forward, knew his job and seemed to enjoy it. But I only popped him over a little x-pole and a small straight. Getting him round a course might be more challenging. Hopefully get someone to take some pics, will post if I get some decent ones
(I am slightly... not nervous exactly but a tiny bit apprehensive as 1. I haven't done that much jumping so not massively confident and 2. got bucked off and trodden on a couple of weeks ago, still a bit sore on my leg where he trod on me. That was in the outdoor school though, he's never done anything like it in the indoor. Will be wearing body protector and using a neck strap just in case though!)
Rest of the weekend - after work tomorrow, driving to Cardiff to stay with friends. Going to meet up with Frank the Manc(hester Terrier)'s brother Bryn and his owners on Sunday. Beach walk, pub lunch, maybe visit Bryn's mum's yard and see her lovely little horse too. All in all, a rather pleasant weekend, and have got Monday off work too - for once I'm actually getting a 2 day "weekend"!
Super happy today, snuck out of work to take Kira for a lesson and she was super duper They were stuck indoors yesterday thanks to Doris so she was a little sharp to start with but soon settled and is starting to feel so grown up Was just a really fun session playing with everything to nudge the quality up a little higher, thinking towards Adv Med, and we all had big grins on our faces for the whole thing Love my weird pony, she's a really fun ride now
She's earnt a quiet weekend so Millie will be happy to get full attention for a change.
Have fun all... Jenni_ more photos needed I think :wink3:
Congratulations Jenni, lovely looking horse, but need more info please.
My 8 yo is out this weekend competing with his new rider, so looking forward to that. As its his first time out since last year ( and a new jockey) they are starting at discovery. Target is to get two DC, as he already has 2, so we can aim him at 2nd rounds. If the first class goes ok, he will do the newcomers too. Hes looking very sexy at the minute, clipped out and jumping the best ive seen him.
After that, I'm taking my girl for a lesson, and will have a catch up with 8 YO's sister who is at my instructors yard being restarted. Shes apparently going well, and jumping confidently ( and more importantly calmly )
Another lesson for me on Sunday to keep up the work on my position and his canter. Nothing to fix with him really, its all my fault when it goes wrong. Liking having these weekly lessons now, feel like i have homework for the week ahead haha. Going to try riding today if the wind dies down but its currently at about 50mph so er maybe not.
Good luck everybody! We have dressage later on today (praise the lord for late start times).
Feel free to laugh at me, but in an act of foolishness I just entered dressage at Epworth on completely the wrong day! I really need to learn to read!! Email asking to withdraw swiftly sent!!
Conquered some xc demons yesterday. Wobbleberry training at Munstead. First time on grass since last summer. I was more nervous than I thought I would be, as we had a good session arena xc last weekend. Just goes to show that those nerves will take some beating before I ever feel confident
Had a slight blip at the start as Finnegan wanted to head back home but after the first two, I had a word with myself, and him, and after that he went really nicely. More forward, off my leg, and I worked hard on straightness which meant less flapping about like a chicken. Ended up over a couple of the 80 fences and was v happy how we finished.
Thanks. As a fellow wobbler, I suspect you'll probably agree - the nerves seem to be the biggest part of the challenge! Not that the rest isn't daunting enough but I feel the other stuff is manageable. Hoping all this training will eventually help with the nerves too.
