This weekend is our first event of the season in the 90 at Tweseldown for the ATClassic series - i'm so excited :)

haha! I was trying not to post it myself :p

Cheeky early start to the weekend as I had a brief trip out to visit a donkey I used to look after while working at HAPPA, he's a right character and I always had a big soft spot for the little guy. So nice to see him in his loan home after years and years living at the rescue centre, he's got a little old brown jenny to keep him company and sounds like he's been up to the usual mischief. Not doing bad for 28 is he?!

Kira has a lesson tomorrow, will give Adam a debrief on her AM dancing debut this week and see what we should work on for the next go. I think she was a bit taken by surprise on Wednesday about being ALLOWED to do changes at a show, so perhaps we'll do a bit on that.

Quiet day on Saturday, got some to ride at the yard for other people and Millie will go in the school while Kira puts her feet up in the field.

Sunday some unaff dressage with another HHOer and my girls can go hacking :)

Monday Millie going showing again. Phew!

have fun all

Jensen is coming home :) :) :) :) He has been away for 2 weeks on full livery whilst I have been whinging about my fractured ribs, but the money has run out already so he is being brought back on Sunday - I can manage rug changes/poo picking etc now so hoping it should be OK! It will be lovely to have him back (even though I have been visiting him pretty much every day) but I can't wait to be riding again

I like how you can be so seemingly relaxed about your dressage! Hope it goes well :)

We're also heading out to some UA dressage at the weekend, just prelim level, but last night my instructor told me to get off so he could sort out our horrific canter work, so my entire aim for Saturday is to stay in the arena as far as possible, try not to fall off, get somewhere over 56% and generally not make a boob of myself or my poor mare! We should have done the Intros but that would've been an earlier start and hey ho, what's a bit of a challenge!

Was too scared to start the thread as a relative newcomer!

I'm off for my next Team Quest Dressage outing with Dangerous Brian on Saturday, I'm also taking Big Sam (my main horseball horse) along so that a friend can compete on him to make our team up to four. I hope that she will be pleasantly surprised 'cause I've been working really hard on him and he's going beautifully at the moment. Brian on the other hand is full of it and that is why that on our way home he's off to my trainer for a couple of weeks. I want her to get him going jumping again before I even attempt doing it myself. It wouldn't be fair to put my nerves onto a young horse and expect him to do it all for me. Plus she's got two weeks to work on him before they compete at Notts County Show!! I've suddenly realised though, I'm going to miss the big grey goon :(

Sunday I'm going to an ROR dressage clinic with Tim Downes but now I'm missing Brian I've got to decide which of the other boys to drag along that won't show me up too much!

I've only just realised it's Bank Holiday on Monday so might see if I can find a pleasure ride or something and try and bribe a friend to come with me

well it's one of those nice outings that are more about experience for the horse than results :) just hoping for a pleasant day out. Good luck to you too :)

LP - Good luck for the event, it sounds like you're well prepared!

MP - That's a very cute little donk, and you seem to have a busy weekend too :p. I still wish you were closer, you could have another Sec D to ride ;).

Lev - Yay for pony coming home, sorry to hear about your ribs and hopefully you heal quickly.

Sarahann - I've done Prelims without any form of left canter installed so you'll be fine! Fingers crossed you do well.

IHW - Have fun XC schooling - I'm very jealous.

HD - Enjoy and good luck!

Wimbles - Hopefully Dangerous Brian won't live up to his name (which is hilarious) and comes back from your trainer a reformed character ;).

Jenni_ - Is that Le Mieux or Eskadron? The colour suits her!

Still nothing interesting going on here, Mads might be going on loan to a friend for her daughter for the summer. I've been very naughty and ridden a few times recently, last night I schooled my friend's difficult gelding as he was taking the p*ss, which ended in him doing a rear-spin and dumping me because I'd insisted that he walked around the school rather than jogged in a llama-like fashion. Got back on and made him regret that choice! Unfortunately my knee isn't very happy about this so this weekend will be spent on the sofa on some heavy-duty painkillers. On the plus side I've got tickets to Guardians of the Galaxy 2 midnight showing tonight which I'm really looking forward to :).

Crunchie and I off to have a go at our first proper* ODE: an unaffiliated run at a BE venue. Bit nervous (but mentally rebranding these feelings as 'excitement') as it'll be the first go we've had at combining the Dressage/SJ/XC work we've been doing all winter on one outing. I bought him as a very green six year old, and we've worked hard since 2015, with some brilliant instruction along the way, to get to a stage where eventing was in our sights.

We're doing the Wobbleberry Challenge, so I'm planning to use this to see how far away from being properly BE-ready we are. I'm hoping for 'almost there' but will settle for surviving! Cross your fingers for us!

*we did a teeny tiny one last year, but it wasn't big enough to count.

Lovely matchy set there Jenni. Love how you are throwing yourself into training, outings AND getting the gear for it too !

KM-R *waves* at a fellow wobbler. Great plan and I like how you're dealing with your nerves. I try to do that too. Posted in the Wobbleberry SE Facebook page a great article from H&H on managing comp nerves, not sure if you've read that yet?

No riding for me as have family down but am also off to gotg2 movie so looking forward to that.

Good luck to everyone who's out competing!

After a few quiet weeks we have a very exciting weekend ahead - the Rockley Rehabs Reunion Ridgeway Ride! Six of us on barefoot rehabbed navicular / DDFT / collateral ligament issue horses are setting out on Saturday morning to ride the full bridleway section of the Ridgeway over three days. I've been organising it since the New Year so I'm equally excited about doing the ride and no longer having to worry about it! We've already raised over £1300 for Willberry Wonder Pony :D

Nursing my broken nerve. :(

Had an accident last night and came off the big lad as did friends daughter come off her pony (it caused the accident actually) and the two of them galloped for 5 miles on a main road (not all in the same direction someone turned them very luckily as they were not homeward bound). My daughter was a star and kept her pony under control despite the carry on then sorted her friend while I phone police and neighbours for help. Have badly injured my elbow and I don't feel I will get back from this.

However he is sound despite his idiocy and really none of it was his fault he didn't know what to do so did what the other pony was doing. How he isn't injured I don't know. Friend is going to ride him tomorrow with a view to taking him xc schooling next week.

Thanks girls. No it isn't broken but had to go to a & e as (I'm too squeamish to type it out) it was needing sorted out and I wasn't sure it wasn't broken. They xrayed it and kept telling me it looked terrible. I'm not looking. They were so kind. I was a total mess from the shock of it. Practically a year to the day I broke my ribs. Also a couple of days before I start lambing and it's my right arm. Couldn't flipping make it up.

I've been very lucky lately that my friends have been giving us lifts out as I struggle transport wise - hoping to get trailer test done this year.

Training wise we're a dressage lesson a week, and hopefully will start popping out for jumping lessons too - I was going to give her a year of doing lots of stuff on the ground but she keeps jumping out of her field so I might as well channel it.

Oh, what rotten luck :( especially when it wasn't really your horse's fault.

Hope you're feeling better soon, the timing for your lambing is rubbish. Might not be any help but would it be worth speaking to any of the Vet Uni's/agricultural colleges to see if they have any students that would be interested in helping? (not sure on your area so this might be useless).

nothing much planned for us, was going to have a stab at a DTM tomorrow but left it too late to get a place.. so we will be mostly hacking with some schooling.
we have been working on our grid work this week though,to get him to make better shapes over jumps and for me to stop trying to lift him over with my hands !!! ( very frustrating as no idea why i do it!) grr

sack the jockey...
