Weekend plans!!!

Thanks DD and DF - had a bit of a wake up call yesterday, spending the afternoon/evening at the vets with a friend, waiting for news of her horse who was having colic surgery. I think I need to stop whining about silly things and appreciate what I've got!

Bizarre about the feet, FW. It's obvious to me. I have farrier issues at the moment - they all say the right things but the state of D's feet after a few cycles is terrifying. He's back unshod because they're so wrong. Hey ho. Be sad to say farewell to the superDaisyCob though.

I rode bareback again - I've been teaching the wee man in hand shoulder in and today we did it ridden, super wee guy took it all in his stride - So well behaved for a 4yo

I had the vet back out on Monday to do a skin biopsy just to check if there was something sinister going on but no, just sensitivity to fly bites. Since I stopped the twice daily washing he seems to be a bit less sensitive, the bumps and heat are almost gone and we are left with what look like spots and a bit of flaky skin

He has definitely changed shape in the last few weeks so hopefully get his saddle looked at this week and back on board. Hope to go to our first dressage show in a few weeks.
 
I was invited to an open day at Leahurst today, had a fabulous day- really interesting. I'm no stranger to the place, we've had horses in and out of there for the last 25 years, but it was fabulous to get a chance to poke around in a horses heart!
 
So the boys are moved into their new yard. One is loving it, shame that the same can't be said for the other. Never seen him like this, box walking, rearing in the stable, ate barely anything all night. Seriously not too sure what to do at the moment. Other yards in the area are all full. After saying goodbye to my old boy on Wednesday this is all I need!

I moved yards recently & found it took a little longer than expected for mine to settle. You've all been through a lot lately, so it might just take some time. Hang on in there.

Yesterday was a fairly quiet day - relaying stabble matting, giving the stable a good spring clean ready for when they start coming back in again at night & we managed to squeeze in a short hack.

Today, I've been for a 10 mile hack exploring some more of our new hacking with a stop for coffee and cake! I'm now just making soup for lunch, I *must* clean my tack this afternoon, then just popping back to see to the horse before a family Sunday lunch.

Yesterday we all had a nice hack with a canter on some stubble.

Today DS and I had a lesson inside.

Fionn went very well in his flatwork lesson, very sweaty though so the bib clip will need upgraded ASAP.

DS and his pony went well too. Pony was more responsive to the leg, and they jumped two jumps on a 20m circle, which we had practised last Saturday at home :)

Hope everyone has had a good weekend :)

I have done loads of housework. Which feels productive but kind of a rubbish way to spend free time! I don't have central heating so this time of year it starts to be a battle with the mildew even with the dehumidifier slurping away. So I suppose my lungs will thank me for my efforts even if my brain doesn't :D
 
We went to do some dressage today :) Our first outing for a while..... I got a right telling off from FB friends when I said I was disappointed, so I shall be all upbeat and happy :p

Jensen loaded in about 2 minutes both there and back, which is amazing compared to the previous hassles we have had in the recent past! I sneakily didn't put travel boots on, which seem to be his excuse for being an idiot, and just used over-reach boots all round and hoped for the best - it worked, he thought he was just having his breakfast on the trailer!

J has been working fantastically at home, I am so pleased with him, but he does tend to 'shut down' at competitions and today was no exception - we lost our consistency and softness, which was a shame. Did a walk and trot test to warm up for 64.34% then Prelim 2 for 60.63% - not great, but our canter is definitely not established on the left rein so I wasn't surprised. Got a 6 for our left canter strike off which is pretty amazing :D Some interesting comments from the judges, so a learning experience for another day
 
My lesson was fantastic! My trainer lunged him briefly first, using a technique he's showed me before but I was too afraid to try with Eddie. Eddie was excellent, he's not used to other people but really tried. Then got on and he tried super hard. Lots to work on before next time.

The hunter trial was AMAZING!! Being back on Holly, galloping xc was just amazing. She's 25, I never thought I'd do it again on her. I nearly cried. She pulled so much I hurt all over today. Aaaaand she's bouncing today like it never happened!!

Thanks Fiona. She went on Saturday and is already showing their other cob how proper cobs behave.

Today I went stressaging with my new white gloves, bling number holder and sparkly bun holder and new very sparkly glitter HS1 hat albeit hidden under a boring navy velvet silk. I thought this effort was bound to mean we would win! Alas we only got a third rosette... until I got a message this evening to say they made a mistake with the results and we actually won LOL. First dressage win so rather chuffed! He’s set the bar high for his come back now!

Went galloping on the small palos tonight in celebration.

That sounds like our last pc show where DS was =2nd in PC pony, but they never called it out, I only saw the scores hey hours later and noticed the =2nd beside his name. ..

Sounds like some good outing and fantastic news on the win FW well done.

Weather held out yay, and had a fantastic outing around south ox ride. Spent most of it talking horses with my friend who I haven't ridden with for ages. Had a few nice canters and F was brilliantly behaved from start to finish. Was v keen and we def found the forward button jumping, a bit too forward but I feel like maybe we got our mojo back a bit today.

Lorry wasn't fixed so I was lucky to get a last minute hire of a man and trailer, clip clop services - was so nice and relaxed to have someone do the transport bit. I could be converted!
 
We had a wonderful time in very wet Wales. I didn't have to go out with everyone so had a car following me as I was bringing up the rear. After the first big hill we started to catch some of the other riders and she kept doing that on a rather scary fashion in some very bad weather over difficult terrain. She had over taken everything by check point 2 but I stopped there for some gloves are a group went back in front into the first vet gate. As ever a while to present and then out again. On the next loop we over took one more but didn't see anyone much after on that loop. Back into the vet gate and sailed through again and onto our second hold. The final loop back across saw her go past the last two in front of us plus blast past everyone else that she saw sometimes much faster than I would like. She trotted down the last big hill as set sail for home. She came in at just over 16k an hour with a heart rate of 60 just the same as she well out with. To win the class was fantastic with a 17 year old round a tough ride.
Today was much quieter and she behaved much better on a short ride. She found the ground quite difficult and I couldn't get her heart rate down at the end so she failed the vet. Just shows how tough a sport it can be. She is home and happy back with her friends which is all that matters. It's the end of the season for her so a bit of a break and then on tick over for the winter.

I feel like I haven't stopped this weekend! You don't realise how much stuff you have till you move do you...
I think George is missing his friends. Or rather would not be on small group turn out because he needs to meet and greet everyone! But we are getting there. Had a little ride around the arena yesterday as his field buddy was in there so thought may as well.

I do love it when they prance around the field and look all handsome!

I took my sec D out to dressage, we had a win in P2 with 68.8% and a win in N24 with a whopping 77.17% our highest ever score, but even better than that, the competition was sponsored by Weird Fish, so I had some lovely prizes too😁
