Weekend plans :)

I just had to share these pics - the photos of clipped M are from this week, the photos of summer coat M are from July 2018 - can't actually believe the difference in 6 months! It's now time for a saddle rethink because whilst the current saddle has allowed the topline to improve beyond my expectations I don't think it can accommodate any more changes now

Oh wow that's some difference..... Are you going to have to buy a new saddle :(

I'm very pleased to report that F and the pocket rocket completed their first 60cm in great style with a double clear.

He's been jumping higher at home and arena hire for ages, but would he agree to do it in public :o no way ;)

We hacked today and Rose is proving to be an excellent nanny and I have to admit I am growing in confidence as she seems to cope with what gets thrown at us. Tomorrow we are off to do ONE test instead of two, just a prelim as I've cancelled the novice. sunday I am going to collect a new companion for Rose, 14.1 ex polo pony, 15 years old retired after an injury by field sound and otherwise healthy. She's coming from a friend who tells me she is very quiet and lovely to handle. Mon/Tues I am spending with my daughter at a lovely spa hotel (my 70th birthday pressie) so Rose will have the two days off.
Whoops forgot to post this last night!

Great news about Fs double clear Fiona.

Yes, I will need to change Ms saddle, it's a Solution saddle but the panels on this model are more suited to a narrower back and it's not sitting right anymore, will try a different style, might try a Strada too whilst I'm at it

That's great oldie48, rose just gets better and better..

Oh dear wheels, that sounds expensive :(

I've been very lazy today, after a late night yesterday. We took the bigger two to the farrier first thing, and then did the mucking out etc when we got back, but as its raining I didn't actually ride.....

About to put the tv racing on 😊😊

Lol Fiona, when is it not expensive? But I will sell his current saddle on so not too bad. I'm not in a huge rush either as whilst the fit could be better it isn't hurting him or causing any problems

I did manage to ride in between heavy rain showers, first time this week so happy with that

Well done wheels... I fell asleep watching the racing, lazy cow 😱

The rain went off for a bit in the afternoon, I should have hacked..

Fingers crossed the fires don’t affect you, sounds very scarey.

Had SJ lesson on Thursday which was good. Mr H was being very well behaved at 75cm with brakes working fine. He was so quiet I wondered if he was feeling tired. So instructor puts them up a couple of holes....mr H suddenly woke up! Did massive jump standing off an oxer and I slipped my reins, so then we were charging at the next jump with reins on the buckle and minimal control 😂
Flatwork lesson tomorrow, a bit of discipline to counter balance the SJ excitement! Hopefully a hack on Sunday. Have fun everyone

Thanks Reacher, Friday was terrifying (a day where just one spark would have lit the entire area up, so tinder dry :( ). I'm ok where I am for now, but there's a fire emergency due South of me, just far enough away but watching the ominous sky and wind changes closely.

Managed to fit a ride in today, the gusty cool change winds have diluted the smoke to acceptable breathing levels :D I just found another saddle to try on the pony, determined to have one she likes by the end of the week! Have a great weekend everyone :)

Decided that the flu won, tried a walk yesterday and by the end of a mile I could hardly breath and my leg muscles had literally gone into spasm.

Curled up at home with a book and a blanket instead of standing freezing in the yard. Sensible but depressing.

Have fun everyone out and about.

Been on two nice long hacks, Arlo only been back in a work a few weeks but hacking out well, he behaved well on a solo hack today despite it blowing a gale and the horses along our local bridleway going crazy in the field.

Now also the proud owner of this little gem which we picked up this morning. Just need to book some clinics and lessons to go to!

Congratulations immyS.... Health to drive x x x

Wow AE, Amber does indeed make the jumps look small.

We managed a swift hack this morning, didn't get wet, but winds were extremely chilly....

Oh and in other news, the farm where my horses live had Peter Capaldi staying over the weekend, helping out Lewis Capaldi who was making a music video up there with a crew of about 30 people. Can't wait to see it.

Me too for hacking this afternoon ;) I suspect I also swore about the damn weather more than he did!

He complained more about putting all the clothes on (to be fair it is v warm and sheltered in our yard), but admitted he was glad once we got out into the full teeth of the wind :o

Aye, I sympathise with that - I always need one more layer than I realise on leaving the yard!

11E9A0A8-76DD-495F-BE08-8375C5A67734.jpegI bailed from hunting so Boggles proper jockey came to give him a jump, we are aiming to take him to his first metre sj this weekend so doing lots of gridwork. He’s a different horse showjumping wise to last year, so much stronger and making this 1.05 Oxer look very easy!

Lesson went OK but showed up more issues than the trainer had realised so I had to hop off and let her work through it. All good for the long run though as means this time we really should get to the bottom of it.

Had a good lesson today - I'm still a bit flu-y so lovely trainer lady gave me lots of breaks. We schooled over a WH course, 1st fence was a bridge with water tray under it, now I never expected M to look twice at it as he's jumped all sorts of things over the last few months but he took offence at something and put this ridiculously huge jump in which almost unseated me. Came round at it a few more times until he settled. Everything else was no problem. There was a bending line with a pretty tight turn, I missed my line the first time and had to circle away but got it the 2nd time after I'd sorted myself out. That's why we train these things I suppose.

It's our first WH show this coming weekend

The beast can jump! Lunging over raised poles and a spectator (he'd earned one with his earlier antics!) suggested a teeny cross pole. No photos but despite me insisting he'd just treat it like a raised pole, he jumped it out of trot like a grown up and made a decent shape! Cue the best circle of canter we've had on the lunge ever and jumped out of canter for a looovely steady pop out of a nice stride. Definitely alleviated some of my fears about being the first person to jump him in case he had a hayuuuge leap! Gold star for the beast
