Wot, no thread yet?
I'm usual riding tomorrow, thinking about late entry for local agricultural show on both days this weekend, but weather looking rather dire for Saturday at present.
Then Monday am taking B Fuzzy away to RC camp for a few nights, am not sure who will get tired 1st but likely to be me!

Bonkers couple of days just gone with a show and then a full day spent at Dressage Skool yesterday (only about an hour in the saddle but with a big gap in between 2 sessions ;) ) seemed a bit late to put an update on last week's thread by the time i got back home at 8pm yesterday. Anyway, Kira had a good lesson where it was identified that although the expensive trot is better quality and more forward, she's dropped behind my aids, the sneaky thing. We were conned by her because it all seemed so much better :p So the corresponding better canter results in more expressive changes but they are vulnerable in the tempis because if she gets behind me there is too much potential to lose balance and miss one.
Lots of homework on sharpening up again then.

Then in the afternoon we did an introductory run with our Pas de Deux partner just to get ponies used to the idea of being a pair. Kira needs a bit of convincing as she's been crashed into in warm up arenas but as long as I moved her closer to him, rather than him moving towards her, she was OK. we've scheduled in some sessions each month to build on that.

She has earned a few quiet days, so it's back to Darcy for a bit - hacking and trotting is where it's at. Last week he managed half of a 20m circle trotting on the bit o_O

Got an arena hire booked on Sunday just to luxuriate in the space of a long arena again ;)

I'm into unknown territory with the little one on Sunday doing our first 64k! He is seeing his mctimoney lady in a minute for a last check, then will have tomorrow off and a leg stretch Saturday. Winnie will do a serious gallop session over the weekend in preparation for next week as I taper her work the week of a ride. MP that is a fab photo! Poor Tamba will be back concentrating on dressage post his 64 in an effort to get out to an ODE in September.

After three years of ownership Tammy travelled in the trailer today to somewhere other than the vets! I took her her to the saddlefitter instead. The fitting was supervised by my chiro vet, so it wasn’t strictly a vet free day for her, but no needles today at least :D.

Her sound but elderly Ideal event saddle is to be superseded by a new Fairfax VSD, which has a wider channel and will suit her much better. It’s adjustable too, which is handy for a remedial fit for a wonky horse. The demo Fairfax I rode in was a dressage saddle and was lovely to sit in, but I don’t like hacking in a dressage saddle so want a slightly more forward cut. It will take a couple of weeks for the VSD to come in stock and but I am allowed to keep her ticking over in the Ideal til then. I took some convincing that my arse will fit in a 17.5” saddle, but the saddlefitter assured me that it does, and that an 18” could be a tad long for Tammy.

ETA I had a mental upper limit of how much I was prepared to pay for a new saddle for my lovely but wonky horse, and the Fairfax came in at £10 under that, phew.

That's great news tiddlypom.. I hope if arrives soon.

You've been busy already MP 🤣

Good luck at your camp FF, mine is next weekend. I'm so excited....

Have fun everyone out competing....

We got home from holiday late on Monday, and Tues was mostly spent poo picking, but I did get a quick ride, and we took F to PC rally where Daisy was super well behaved even though there was a buckaroo pony in his ride...

Wednesday we got up at 6, and spent the day at Dublin Horse Show... Great fun.

This weekend will depend on the weather but hoping for either a forest ride or xc schooling...

Fiona

Its a quiet one for me, its the European Championship of the American Quarter Horses over in Germany at the moment so I shall try and watch some of that online.

Enjoy camp fuzzy, great pic there MP

Good luck with the 64k zaminda, that is a long way!

We our 2nd lesson with pammy today - great fun :)

M will have a day off tomorrow then we have dressage on Saturday, our first novices in competition although we did do a training show before on one of the same tests so will be interesting to see if we've improved. We are doing BD Nov 28 and Dressage Ireland Nov 27 - very different tests, the DI one has a couple of interesting maneuvers like turn left at E then a 15m trot circle fig 8 at X then there is also a halt and rein back across the CL and then a 15m circle canter straight into a 20m circle canter with medium canter on 1st half and there is also a 20m canter circle on a long rein... not expecting a particularly high score for some of that, there are lots of places to make mistakes!!

Good luck everyone who is out and about

Ooohh , lucky you Fiona . I really wanted to go to the Dublin show this year . I wanted to see all the fabulous ID classes . Hope you have lots of fun !
Tiddleypom, when you get your saddle sorted we will have to meet up for a farm ride / hack etc

I was supposed to be going to do another dressage test on Saturday, to try and get my qualifying sheet for the draught championships but my box has had to go in for surgery. So looks like a non horsey weekend for me .
Good luck everyone out and about 😃

Indeed we must :)!

Sorry that your plans for Sat are thwarted by a poorly horse box, but the weather forecast isn’t great either. I was relieved that today was so clement as I’ve been waiting for a while for this double saddle fitter plus chiro vet appointment, (both are very busy people), and it would have been pants to have to reschedule it because it was too windy to tow.

I was supposed to have 2 ponies at the local agricultural show on Saturday but due to a broken tow car and the weather forecast I am quite happy just to pop along with the Eggs for the Egg classes - if the show goes ahead!

Sunday I am stewarding up at another show so fingers crossed it's dry for that!

Good Luck to all who are out this weekend and hopefully the weather is easy on you!

Lesson tomorrow eve then seeing friends both Friday and Saturday night.

New set of shoes for madam on Saturday morning. Quite a quiet boring one really!

I went jumping last night

Video here again

No longer looking sharp, silly or likely to kill me, do I feel I'm starting to get labeled nervous and over horses 😂😅🤣

Going to take him hacking with a friend on Sunday, wish me luck.

Callie, gradually being prepared for her area festival on Friday next week.

I’m helping a friend to pick up her new 2yo on Saturday, then trying a potential loan pony (only 14.2 apparently, but has won an Area Festival at Medium!) on Sunday. Fingers crossed!

Mind you my trainer in Spain has offered to send me a horse to ride for two years so I won’t be horseless for long no matter what 😁

Love that mane:)

Pony free weekend as its the local agricultural show up at my grans. She's 93 later this year so most of the family try and get there. The horse and pony show has been moved to Sunday from Friday so really hoping things go ahead. And quite looking forward to a couple of lazy days, there's always something to do at home so it's nice to be away for a couple of days!

I'm taking a couple of ponies to archery this weekend. Carrot was a bit of a twit throwing her head around shooting yesterday and I want to see what Mr Legendary Coach thinks I should do next (although I was shooting next to her in the field this evening and she was trying to stick her nose in everything so I'm not convinced she's genuinely worried by any of it ). Plus I'm taking Fergs so hopefully we can play at fun stuff too :D
