weekend plans

Chippers - saw your other thread but didn't have anything useful to add, but great to hear you've got an aim and a plan, good luck.

I'm not good with scary people so I hope she's not too hard on me haha.

Yeah should be :D OH and I don't really spend a lot of quality time together so be nice to just have a few hours where we can't get sidetracked into doing jobs. Plus you get a bottle of your own gin to take home, *hic*

Now that sounds like the perfect weekend with a storm on its way. Just add in fish chips and peas and id be in heaven !

A fairly quiet one for us, so im taking the lady who now loans Aria out for her first dressage competiton to a local venue. Im loving the fact that as well as being a fab rider she also helps out when she comes, and it doesn't cost me anything .Its quite a revolution !
We will hopefully be getting a delivery on Monday evening of our 2 new foals, as long as the weather is ok over the irish sea.

Come on AE - we now need photos of the new one
Bernster - your camp sounds amazing, maybe nick MPs gin to take with you ?

Hope you all have a fun weekend:cool:

can you reveal some details now ;)

Well she's French, she's elegant, she's bay. She is 16hh
She is very much NOT Jenny. But is still calm, sweet, genuine. If somewhat bigger than little Jenny.

Her RI says she will be fine! She has come from a trusted dealer who is good at matching people to horses..... so fingers crossed this is not a step up too far for her.

She looks lovely. Has she done anything competition wise? I always think as long as the temperament is good you are there.
The step up to horses is always tricky, that's how I ended up with Winnie! Although as they very much ignored advice I have limited sympathy.

Loading, loading and more loading. Oh did I mention loading???? We have progressed from planting at the bottom of the ramp (and spending 4 bloody hours trying to convince him otherwise) to practically loading himself, keen up the ramp, turning side on, standing for a few minutes then turning and walking out forwards. Previously he's absolutely refused to turn in fear of catching himself so closing the partition was impossible he's much less reactive when he touches the walls or partition so really pleased. Tack cleaning and pad washing in preparation for camp next week and plenty of hacking for us!

AE that's very very exciting, looking forward to hearing about many adventures! :)

Oh boo :(

Do horses ever actually pass vettings? Asking for a friend. (Not a serious question but the false +ve rate must be pretty high I think).

Yes they do, my loan pony did when she was sold in June. He didn't totally fail, just probably wouldn't stand up to BD/BE. Absolutely gutted, he was lovely and had a fabulous work ethic he always wants to please. I've had him on trial for a month and he had exceeded expectations already so I was rather fond of him 😭 Just obviously wasn't meant to be I guess. The search continues...

She looks lovely AE! Can’t wait to follow their progress together.

I decided that no stomach bug was holding me back when the weather was dry this evening, so I managed to give Millie a 20-minute stretch in the school. I think she sensed I wasn’t right as she kept turning her head back to me every time we stopped. Bless her. She’s quite sweet in her own way.

Gorgeous present wheels....

Did you have a lovely day?

Brilliant news AE x x

I didn't get the chance to clip today 😭😭 and Fionn is filthy with stable stains from staying in last night...

Also just bought 2 50g Ruggles rugs as my no fill ones are letting in and it's driving me mad...

I was expecting your daughter to look tiny on her, but they make a fantastic pair! Best of luck to them!

Lovely newbie AE!

I have just heard hunting is off too, dangerous ground conditions, so I have no horsey plans now. Might have to have a search and see if I can find some tiny SJ or arena eventing that can be entered late.

AE she looks awesome! Looks to have some blood in her? ;)

I'm working this weekend so not much riding time. Was going to go this morning but gladly left it as it was raining and storming. We sorely need the rain so I will let them wallow in the pathetic mud it produced before its gets warmer again tomorrow.

Have a great weekend all :)

Thanks for all the lovely comments. I feel like I have hijacked this thread a bit! Sorry. But to answer the various questions:

She is SFxTB so yes some blood.

She's not any competing yet. Luckily for us or I'd probably have been priced out! The dealer bought her in Spring planning to get her out BE and then sell. She was entered at Bold Heath recently but it was rained off and he has other horses already entered the remaining localish events. But she has been XC schooling etc with no issues. I know we need to build her confidence slowly though- she won't have seen much yet like collecting rings etc.

Yes she is for us both to ride. Yippee. I don't feel I get enough saddle time with just Amber. She will be Izzy's but I will rider her regularly.

I have driven all over the country looking for horses and this one was 33 minutes away!

I've just had the most fun arena eventing clinic this morning! The 2 others didn't turn up so had coach to myself. Was supposed to be a intro to 60, but we bypassed that and cracked on at 70 to 75.
Unfortunately no photos tho.
B Fuzzy was a complete star, apart from a pants down worry scoot sideways at the metre wide water tray the 1st time...
She cheerfully tackled everything without hesitation and there was a right old mix of sj fences with gate, spreads, double and related distances, many skinny fences too, inc stile, bridge etc. Had a fabulous time 😎

I managed to find a couple of hours this morning to ride Blue, for the first time in well over a month. I've been long-reining to gradually bring her back into work, but this was the first time hopping on board.

Well, she couldn't have been more perfect! I did a little 30-minute hack with our usual buddy, all in walk. She strode out happily, crunched over the stoniest surface without a wince, and didn't even bat an eyelid when a wheelie bin leaped out from behind a hedge. (Our buddy nearly fell over from fright, but he's what the Arab stereotypes are based on!)

I love this little mare so much. I'm a complete wimp as a rider, but she really looks after me.
