Weekend plans!

Looking good HP. We had a sneaky extra day today, I had the day off for Cheshire show but covid! So we went to a nearby farm ride. I mostly rode my owners other pony, who is a super chilled little dude and just learning his jumping really. Hes getting to be quite reliable though and getting confident now.
Owner rode supercob for most and I just hopped on at the very end for a play over a few bigger bits. They were both a bit spooky going round so we kept it easy and fun and just hacked round basically

Looking good! It’s been years since I’ve been to Dean Valley, the farm ride looks ace, I think they’ve done a lot of work since I last went round.

It was great, we are a bit spoiled as somerford is pretty close and just so purpose built, it was a bit spooky at first - could smell cows and hedgerows etc, but they soon settled. The last field has those jumps in it - my only slight concern is they are not all drilled in, but neither are lots of places. Had a fab day anyway

we did yet another arena hire o_O
A new saddle arrived for Darcy so I had sort of intended to take him to have a nice trial, but thought Kira could do with the work really.
What a good decision. the heavens opened with a huge thunderclap as soon as we came down the ramp, and the next 40 mins was alternate pouring rain and huge hailstones. Definitely a day for the native pony! Kira isn't great left out in the rain but fair play to her, she doesn't mind working in it  Lovely big arena with a fab surface 10 mins from home. A good find :) and she went home squeaky clean, even her feathers were white and fluffy after that power shower.

Arrived back at the yard soaked wet through to find they had had no rain at all. So saddled Darcy up squelching in my boots and with wet pants etc ... good thing about having new things is it's easier to talk yourself into riding to try them out even when you really just want to go home ;)
It's not a forever keeper as I'd prefer a monoflap but we have a nice upgrade from his falling apart horrible albion-of-eternal-hip-pain. It'll be a year next week that I've had him, so it's an owniversary present I reckon. For good behaviour ;)

That colour is fab on him MP, and having a saddle you like makes a massive difference, I've got two fairfaxes now for supercob but both are 17 inch seats and honestly it makes a huge difference for me as a small person having a smaller saddle - I'd go 16.5 but it's too small for my owner then.
We've just missed torrential rain before we rode, and torrential rain and thunderstorms all afternoon, very sweaty, but not rained on

it really does, I just find the twist/seat on albions too wide (only bought it as very cheap and I knew it would fit him), and as I have these stupid bendy legs it opens my hips too far and makes it a real effort to stop my legs just flailing around :p this is an amerigo so similar shape to Kira's equipe and I instantly just felt like a better rider :p he seems to like it, bonus.

tbf we didn't get sweaty, in all the rain... it was very humid on arrival so I was sort of dreading the sweat running down your eyelashes effect, but traded that for just a general soaking. change is as good as a rest, I suppose.

Oh well if Tues counts as the W/E! After our hack in open fields on Sunday, I brought Rose home and hacked out with a friend on Mon round the lanes for an hour or so. Today after Rose's night walk about we went for our lesson with Justin Sole at AM Dressage and had the perfect lesson for where we are ATM, very confidence building, worked on basics, she was quite tired but was onside and I came home with a smile on my face.
