Congratulations M and B!

We just did a super ride on the Trans Pennine Trail. It was too hard for canter but we did a substantial period in trot. He feels so different with the new saddle.

I feel like a negligent mother, not realising earlier. Oh, and we met lambs, a swarm of bees, loads of cyclists and dogs aplenty!

I could cry. 3rd place at Tweseldown BE90. Only 20% of the class jumped a double clear.

He is mega. So glad he finally got the result he deserved (aka I didn’t muck it up for him).

Fantastic, well done Michen! Very well deserved for both of you.

I did my dressage test and came 3rd (of 6, for perspective) which I'm really pleased about. I didn't forget the test, smiled pretty much the whole way round, and had some nice comments from the judge. I went in thinking if I got 5's I'd be happy but got some 6, 7 and even a couple of 8s.

Yay! Well done Michen and Bog! He looks amazing! I'm not surprised you're emotional, even I have something in my eye reading your post!

Ah thank you so much. I know it’s nothing really, a BE90 but it’s so damn hard to get all 3 right and get placed and it was lovely that the true jumpers today got rewarded and not necessarily the dressage divas. The judge even commented what a happy, smiley partnership we are. We have a ball together ?

Beryl came a third out of three ?. She was impeccably behaved all day, only got upset when I removed the wedge of grass out her hamster cheeks before her class ?.

Is that Skylla on the left? She's huge ( as in tall, I mean!) What's she up to these days? She was always one of my favourite HHO horses

Haha it is, think she topped out at 16hh but she is a bit fat now too ?. She’s a lady of leisure these days, discovered a few issues last year so competition/schooling work is out for her sadly, she gets to hack and do the odd fun ride now x

More hacking, as per usual, but the weather hasn't been great so nothing mega long. I tried Fin in a Bomber Blue yesterday -- I was curious to see if he'd like it. Tested it in the arena and said to OH, "I can't turn left." Everytime I took anything resembling contact, he'd champ at the bit and pull against me. Swapped back to the Happy Mouth, and my power steering returned. At least he makes his views obvious. Then we had a lovely hack.

This is us going down a berm and through some water to avoid a bridge that's no wider than the horse.

The new boy (who is very lucky to still be here considering...) made his debut for us in the ring. Jester won his stallion class, went Standard Shetland Champion and then Overall Shetland Champion.

For an 11yo that hasn't been shown for 5 or 6 years he was OK. He got very got and bothered and I wasn't entirely trusting him not to roll on the surfaced arena! I also plaited his bridle onto him as lots of hair, small ears and a pony with a penchant for itching his head is not a good combo! He has this horrible habit of snatching his head straight down which then in turn bashed the bones in the back of my hand off of the buckle on his noseband. He will soon learn not to do this or else he really will be made into Findus Crispy Pancakes!

Show didn’t go great :/ at a popular local riding club…. kids on ponies cantering between horse boxes, rolling around in the warm up etc, jumping not running to time then getting rushed in without being able to warm up properly.
ended up withdrawing after the third fence. :( photo is of the second. Didn’t ride my best either.. not really a great start :(

Lovely chilled hack this evening with Millie. Mostly walk and a bit of trot. On a quiet few weeks til she sees Mark Andrews in June.
Went to my friends last night for pizza and a catch up. Great fun but was a late one for me and I didn’t get to sleep until gone 2am. Think it will be tea and bed early tonight!
Roped my long suffering Dad into helping with some ragworting today because my back is so bad at the moment. We did a couple of hours worth and have made a good dent in it. My Dad is the biggest legend ever.

We’ve been hacking again - I’ve really got into getting a map out and finding new routes to ride. Discovered some fabulous places. So today was another new route. More breathtaking views - the countryside really is designed to viewed off the back of a horse!

Both boys were brilliant and will sleep well tonight. ?

I have no pics, but we went to a new course hire, with fillers under every fence. I had to do a bit of deconstructing at first, ‘cos my son had a moment at the fillers (his last pony liked to dump you if there was a filler under the fence) but in they end they jumped a really nice, flowing 70cm round.

Took coblet along too as we were paying for time not number of horses and there was space in the lorry. He spooked at all the jumps, then was a really good boy jumping his first fillers. He is such an honest soul - stops to consider the situation then always jumps it after a few seconds to check it’s safe. No sudden stops, no running out, very honest and sweet. He has always hated the colour blue (spooked at people wearing blue T-shirts as a 3yo and couldn’t have a blue saddle cloth!) so the water tray was the biggest issue. Going to make one and put it in his field gateway!!!

mixed bag here, Frank was on his tip-top best behaviour, Quiz was not and fired me into the arena surface, then Kira just had a positive pregnancy scan. A bit of everything! Early early days for K so keeping everything that is not too bruised crossed for the heartbeat scan in a fortnight. eep.

Angelic sleeping Frank

Well that describes the Rollercoaster life that is horses! Sorry to hear about your close encounter with the arena surface. I hope you're alright. Who was Kira bred to? I probably missed that somewhere. Fingers crossed ? that all is well on the next scan.
