Waiting on the vet calling with Henry’s workup/X-ray results so thought I’d get things started :)

Not had the best week so far (vet was out Monday then as an emergency yesterday, and we’re dropping off/picking up horses today and tomorrow as well) and seeing as I’m currently down to two horses out of six I don’t think we’ll be up to much over the next few days.

Blue tied up yesterday so he’s joined Beau and Henry off games, and Miss Ellie is still at bootcamp so I can’t even have a sit on her.

At least I have a few arena hires on at home to keep me busy.

Hope everyone is having a better week than me ;)

Eep :( fingers crossed that everyone is on the road to recovery soonest!

Salty is off to a show on Saturday, we're first to go again, which I'm grateful for as we'll have a quiet warm up hopefully... but I won't be grateful when the alarm goes off :D Early starts every day this week are taking their toll :p

Will probably pop off to arena hire with Kira to run though the PSG test again. I feel like the penny has dropped with the pirouettes since we've been going 360 degrees each time, so hoping we might pull it off a bit better next time out. She tried really hard in the heat yesterday (after tipping me off into the sand first while spooking at stuff blowing in the wind ;) ) and is feeling stronger each day :)

Will head over to see the oldies and pull out a bit more of their winter coats. It's my 14 year loaniversary for Millie today so there will be extra carrots :D

He’s being medicated with a local anaesthetic/steroid mix this afternoon and then it’s the physio’s turn.

At least we have an answer now.

Ah sorry to hear that BM, must be gutting for you. I hope you can get it sorted though and it's just a blip. The facebook page Horse with Kissing Spine is great for info, support and sharing experiences.

Lovely collage MP, she is clearly a very special horse. Have fun with both your outings and hope you get some rest.

So pleased that the weather seems to have improved. Will be interesting to see how quickly the ground dries out. Our hacking already has some harder parts but generally the ground is really nice.

Have had a hectic time at work so have high expectations for a fun day out on Saturday in the sun. Doing 60 ODE at Munstead. Our first big outing of the year, feel under-prepared (as always) given the crappy weather as we haven't done any xc on grass and so no run outs in the open so am obv freaking out about that. The dressage doesn't bother me so much, apart from forgetting my test. The sj should hopefully be small enough that I can just flap and kick my way around. The xc I'm worried about him napping so will be aiming for a positive move out of the start box!

As for weekend plans, I'm a bit excited, nervous etc etc. Its my youngsters first BE event at kelsall tomorrow. Shes been a bit sticky about jumping down banks and over ditches, but the last schooling session went well, so fingers crossed all goes well .

Good luck everyone else

No plans with mine. Polly is out of ridden action until the saddler comes out next week and the heat/pollen/general summer has hit the Diva hard and her breathing has gone a bit off. I imagine it will take her a bit of time to adjust but getting her inhalers sorted next week.

Off to spectate at Kelsall on Saturday.

So sorry to hear about Henry BM, although I've known quite a few with KS bounce back with the right rehabbing so fingers crossed.

Happy Loaniversary MP, absolutely love your collage!

Our weekend will be distinctly lacking in ridden plans because we're finally off to pick up our lorry!!!! So excited that after 26 years of wishing and dreaming we'll finally have our own wheels to get around in, it still doesn't seem real! For those who saw my posts in tack room we ended up picking up a 57 plate Alexanders for not much more than our original budget. We were somewhat concerned it was too good to be true, but aside from being way up north (who doesn't love a road trip?!) it flew through the pre-purchase check with only a handful of work to do which the mechanic is doing before we collect on saturday. So hopefully soon we can actually include some actual competition plans in this thread :)

Good luck to all out and about this weekend!

Happy loaniversary! Love the photos :D

I am taking my orange mare across to Dallas Burston to umpire at the PC arena tournament this weekend. She's never been on the pitch before and I've never umpired, so it's exciting, in a daft kind of way!

Fortunately, I'm getting a lift over there, as my disco had an attack of the vapours last night and got abandoned at the garage. I'm hoping it's not a sign of how things are going to go this week - I've already dropped my phone, cracked the screen, and had an unrelated minor break down today :eek3:

Enjoy your new lorry FF, and happy loaniversary MP

Just spoke to my physio so that’s Henry booked in for his first session. I’ve done plenty of rehabbing in my time, plus the two that help me on the yard are both fab so I’m hopeful that Henry will bounce back in no time.

On a happier note, I’ve just heard that my 4yo is ready to jump away from ‘home’ so she’ll be coming over to pop round the course I had built for this weeks clinics - something to look forward to. :)

Good luck to everyone who’s out competing.

Really sorry for your news BM

I hope everyone who is going out and about has fun and I'm very jealous of your lorry shopping festivefuzz

Unfortunately Ms hamster cheek swellings came back up last weekend. I put a thread up in vet / hoof care as I thought it was his guttural pouches but now the swelling is down a bit I think it's actually the salivary glands. Blood test shows white blood cell count is normal so it may be allergies. Specialist horse vet booked for tuesday

Anyway, upshot is that this weekend will be gentle hacking.

Next weekend was our planned first ODE but even if we get the all clear on Tuesday we will not go because we haven't had the chance for XC schooling or enough fast canter work. There is another one in June at the same venue so will aim for that instead

blood_magik, sorry to read that x

Milliepops, lovely collage :)

Am off to a local farm ride on Saturday, depending on temps and ground, might pop some of the lovely xc fences.
Sunday I might go for a sj training session, still making my mind up on that though....

Good luck to those competing :)

VERY exciting about your new wheels FF. Pics when you get it :) I love a bit of lorry ahem p orn.

Haha he's a bit of an ugly duckling at the moment as he's an ex hire box so covered in branding, although nothing my newly acquired heat gun can't tackle! :) I'll add some pics once he's branding free.

Fast fun and exciting fun ride on Saturday :) got a friend who is giving me a ‘lead’ with her 17hh ex-NH racer/P2Per/currently a team chase TB, so Jensen will be shown that XC is exciting and enjoyable :D

Then a flat lesson on Sunday with my PSG level trainer..... ;)

All sounds fun! Sorry about the KS diagnosis, that's gutting.

I have a heavy horse plaiting and harnessing clinic on Sunday. My braids are pretty rubbish and take hours, so a proper lesson should help. Same with the harness, I can get it on and off but my poor horse gives me long suffering sighs when I do. His foot is a lot better now, so hopefully this counts as show practice!

Fingers crossed for a Henry bm. This weekend I do not have to ride my mare at last! After 4 months 3 Weeks 4 Days she is out in the field or tiny grassy pen but she seems happy enough. Unfortunately I am still recovering from our last ride where she threw herself on top of me, but I might try and have a jump on the stolen pony.

Tomorrow a Forrest hack with 4 others which will be the largest group we've been out with.
Then Sunday is start show prep day so a good groom to try and get the winter coat our followed by first bath of the year, Daisy will hate me for it, so no riding after that !

After a few false starts I'm off to my first endurance ride of the season. My advanced horse has been in the wars repeatedly recently so its my Irish mares chance. She did one last year and was good but she has a few issues to work through. I've been pleased will her as she was going to be shot before I took her but she is still a work in progress. Vetting could be interesting!

Sorry to read that B_M - fingers crossed that the rehab works well for him. As others have said, plenty of horses recover well from it and you have all the support and experience to make it work. Keep us posted!

Good luck MP, Bernster, Asha, zaminda. Enjoy the fun rides, hacking, lorry pick-ups everyone!

I'm in Spain for a long weekend. Sadly the weather isn't as good as back home, with a strong levante wind (one of the locals registered a 90mph gust ) which is affecting the brains of humans and animals alike! My friend and I went for a lovely two hour hack yesterday, then we joined the riding holiday group for a while this morning before heading off on our own to get coffee!

Yesterday, on my favourite-horse-that-I-don't-own, Zal. He's 18 now and his acceleration isn't quite what it used to be, but he's still a lot of fun to gallop through the forest!

Then today, on a lovely 4yo who found everything very interesting and slightly scary in the wind!

I'm hoping to see my yearling later today and my ex's lovely stallion at the trainer's yard. They're both starting their journey to England in the next couple of weeks and I can't wait! I'm heading back earlier though - Sunday evening and back to work on Monday :(

Wow jiffy, nice pics. How lovely to have a mini holiday :)

Well, we survived Salty's second BD :D She even had 3 other horses in the warm up which is the most she's coped with so far ;) a more grown up interpretation of the test plan than last time :tongue3: still a little bit freeform but getting closer to how it's written on the sheet! A couple of green mistakes brought the score down but 62% was not a bad result and her first points :D

very proud of my homebred youngster. Her first BE event, we've taken it slowly with her and its really helped. Her attitude throughout the whole day was amazing. Very relaxed and took everything in her stride. Dressage of 27.5, clear SJ, and just a stop at the bank, but went on the 2nd attempt. Other than that she stormed around the XC, and didn't have any green moments. We've been working on banks and she is getting much better. So think its just a case of getting on with it now.

Shes having a well earned rest in the field today.

bm, really sorry to hear that. it's just rubbish.
Was it tina cook's horse who had kissing spine but still went on to compete at 4*?

FF, congratulations! Hope you had a good trip up our way! Can't beat it up north.

Happy loanaversary, MP, 14yrs makes mine and chills' recent 2 pale in comparison. Millie has been one lucky horse, that's for sure.

Have fun pleasure riding/lessoning/arena hiring everyone.

Yesterday chilli got turned out for the first time in two months so no riding as she pretty much gave herself a workout. She had a great time, I STRESSED beyond belief!

We also had a weigh in for nearly all the horses on the yard. She came in at 536kg, the little piglet!

As for the rest of the weekend, I've seen her this morning and done all my jobs so I'll just be riding her tonight and then after work tomorrow.

So the bargain box made it home ok :) Had a really relaxed drive up, collected box from the mechanic and popped my brave pants on for a 25min drive from the mechanic to a nearby pub where we were meeting some good friends for lunch. Managed to negotiate a mini bridge and several roundabouts before handing the keys to the OH for the homeward journey.

We're planning to take M out early next week for arena hire, which will hopefully be equally stress free!

Sounds like everyone’s had a good weekend.

Henry is home and much happier in himself already - he bucked his way up the field on Friday afternoon and again yesterday so I’m assuming he’s feeling better. :)

Poor Blue is still technically on box rest and only allowed out for 5 mins to stretch his legs, so we made the most of the sun and let him eat his way around the verges at the back of the barn.

Proof that the sun does occasionally shine in Scotland ;)

The heavy horse day was excellent. We plaited a very patient shire mare, watched a couple of harnessing demos and asked some stupid questions about adjusting saddles and belly bands, and didn't have a go at hand making flights because there's a limit to how much sowing I'm prepared to do.

The sun shone, everyone was friendly and it was nice to catch up with old friends human and equine. We also had fun translating harness terms - most of the instructors were Cornish, most of my harness knowledge is from English books and my harness set is scottish and all three have different names for the same straps. There was a lot of pointing involved!
