Thought we could do a post to say what we have achieved with our horses today.

It doesn't matter how big, little, Random, silly or strange, if you feel it's an achievement, post it

I'll start!

Today....

Charlie managed to hack out without napping *does a happy jig*

and Millie (the pony who refused to stand in a trailer unless it was moving and would start rearing as soon as the ramp went up
crazy.gif
) manage to stand quietly without so much of a squeak for 10 minutes whilst we stopped to buy some lunch on the way home from XC schooling, she didn't even have a haynet to keep her occupied (Told you they could be random

)! She also managed to jump some fences that my 16.2 TB wouldn't jump including a hedge (piccy' in PG

)

Your turn............

We bought a new ponio on Friday a 5yo cutie with the hope of eventing and we took her XC schooling today and she was a dream

Daughter been through a tough time recently losing her boy, it was fab to see her face looking like this

Sometimes it's the little things that just make up for all the bad times.

My tricky to catch horse followed me about the field and came and stood with me at the gate for a good 10 mins for scratches. Doesn't sound a lot but thats a huge step forward for us!

Mine came over to me in the field and stood to be caught without a headcollar on (first time out without it and yesterday she wouldnt even let me stroke her in the field)
grin.gif
. The we hacked out on our own with hardly any napping
grin.gif
. She was having a spooky day so we had some problems with goats, cows and a plastic bag but she did it with hardly any effort from me!

So proud of her. We made it out to the road with her walking forwards and me not having to kick kick kick all the way out!

Took mare out hacking, shes not used to going on her own and gets quite tense, and she was really good. She even stood quietly listening to my aids while a group of riders rode on past. Afew months ago she would have thrown a wobbly. Really pleased with her today

Took baby Newfie out for a walk on the roads today and some idiot came speeding past us on a very narrow lane. Little man didn't bat an eyelid!
Cow horse was a star rounding up sheep, and allowed me to open/close gates without being a general pain in the a$$

Pickle after a week's box rest allowed me to lunge him in walk only
smile.gif
I was very proud of him, as sisters horse has also been on box rest and is a nutter

Had the first jumping session with my mare since her operation. Also in this session I did most of it with an confidence that I don't know where it came from. We even did the top of the blocks... another first. It did go abit pear shaped and I did fall off, but again got back on and proceeded to carry on with this unfamiliar confidence.

am I allowed to run around waving my hands in the air shouting " yaaahhhoooooo"!!!!!!!

We had some fun in the SJ field this evening, stuck them up a bit and I managed not to screw it all up.
tongue.gif
Then had a play over some mock xc fences that I had arranged on the hilly bit - all of our half halt practice is paying off and we popped a corner, down the hill to a skinny with no mishaps.

Sounds like a pretty positive day for HHO-ers today!

Took my ' spaghetti legs' (sp?) spooky TB for a solo hack somewhere new and he only spooked a little when 2 pigeons flew up into his face! - Doesn't sound much, but he has real 'trust' issues with humans so I was chuffed that he listened to me!

Went through my dressage test for next weekend's ODE (
crazy.gif
) and actually managed to do a decent trot to halt, and fantastic immobility (fidgety TB has trouble standing still usually!
grin.gif
)

was brave riding new horse after he just been clipped and me and my best friend didnt argue over who had to go up front on hack today(cos we are both wimps!) we just got on with it and took it in turns and had a lovely time :-)

I went to see my turned away chestnut mare which I've been meaning to do for days.
blush.gif
(YM does check her daily)

I hacked out again on my 5 year old and she was less at ease than yesterday, but no airs above the ground so all is good.
grin.gif

I've sorted out turning her out with my chestnut in a field next to a main road until the weather gets worse and finally found a willing hacking companion with a traffic proof horse to help me when she comes back from bootcamp. So quite a productive day.

I had a nice solo hack on my girl this afternoon, unfortunately since my car accident in June, i am much more nervous about driving as well as riding!!
I used to hack on my own all the time, but have rather lost my nerve so it was a nice little achievement for me and my girl
grin.gif

had a lovely hack out today with my friend and managed to canter, several times without my girl turning it into a race
crazy.gif
she cantered nicely next to her boyfriend and listened to me when I asked her to come back....a first out with someone else!!

I hacked my old girl out today and we communicated well, listened to each other and I felt like a proper rider!
laugh.gif
If you knew the problems we have had in the past when hacking, its a big deal!
