What breed is your horse and what do you do with it???

Welsh cob, mainly dressage, some showing and jumping
Belgian draft, showing and general riding ( just had his first dressage test ;) ) and just breaking into harnas work

4yo ISH - hopefully we will eventually go on to event! At moment working on her flatwork preparing to get out and do some dressage! Not rushing her as want to being her on at the right pace, next year hopefully some combined training oh and ultimate goal for next year is to have her going nicely enough for some hunter classes ending with the coloured class at RDS:) we will see...

TB x Shire ... She's a bit of a field pet now, but she is so beautiful to look at!!

But she turns her hand to anything I ask of her, mostly SJ and the odd XC. She would have made a cracking event horse had we had transport in her younger days!!

:)

My boy is 7/8ths TB (I think the rest is Irish) and he hacks. Proper pony plodder :p Well, I want to try some dressage with him next year as apparently he's well schooled, but I've seen his BE record and I definitely won't be eventing him :o

The pony is a "Dutch riding pony" and she is a field bum looking for a keen teenager!

I also ride a TB (ex-racer) who dressages (and hacks and potters with his owner).

Reading the responses, it seems to be the pony types that are the all-rounders and the horses mostly seem to have focussed careers... interesting! :)

4 shetlands, one broken to drive, one broken to ride (if you like going on 2 legs), one who is waiting to do something, and one who is a permanent lawn mower.
Welsh section D who due to years of injury, accidents and being a nightmare at shows is now just a hack.
Semi retired Arab mare who I bring out of retirement periodically as shes such a fun ride, She used to show and would have been a great endurance horse, if she would ever load in the box, but as she wont, its hacking only, which is always fun.
New Forest , who is schooling ready for showing and dressage, hacking a lot on him and may do some distance rides. He seems to have a talent for jumping which unfortunately I dont, so may have to find someone to have some fun on him in that sphere.
And finally a new addition of an Exmoor mare, shes only 3, so a full scale breaking and schooling project there, destined for showing initially and see where her talents lie.

ISH, (traditional so TB x ID) 5 year old bought to event, currently training but has just done his 2nd dressage competition (and was placed in both his classes!). We will be showjumping, dressaging and hunting all this winter now he has grown up a bit. Also have a 24 year TB x "irish cob" ex intermediate event mare, now semi retired and hacks out with her 2 sharers. I evented her before she became arthritic in her neck. So again, a proper job for both of them!

But a friend has, because she is a massive softie, just bought the racehorse her syndicate was selling. Nailbiting at Ascot last week and he has been bought.. to do whatever. He will come to my YO for rebacking in Spring and then his job in life.. will be... whatever he shows he can turn his hoof to. How is that for a nice ending! and exciting to see what his next job will be (apparently he was the politest little racehorse on the track, always saying after you to anyone wanting to come up past him!)

1 x 26yo arab - now semi retired but over the years we've hunted, hunter trialled, done dressage, Le Trec, advanced endurance, driving, showing, trail riding, and he got me through my horse exams. I owe him everything.

1 x 15yo arab - he'll have a bash at anything as long as he can see the point to it. Safe as houses. Main job = making us smile. Was an in hand show stallion, now is a bombproof trail horse and open level endurance horse. Will be on 'experienced schoolmaster escort' duties for the next couple of years.

1 x 3.5yo PBA/PBW/saddlebred. Just backed and learning about life. Has done little bits of in hand showing.

1 x 2.5yo arab. Has done little bits of in hand showing.

2 x field ornaments (1 x 21yo ex racer/babypony nanny and 1 x small pony).

Appaloosa x native, mostly appy in his attitude unfortunately:rolleyes: (still the love of my life though, and he knows it lol).I mainly hack with him,but he will turn a hoof to anything.Loves to jump (only with teenage sharer,I'm not that brave lol),hates schooling but moves beautifully when he minds to and when ridden by a better person than me:o

Also have a welsh cob,far too lazy and ploddy to do much other than hack, but he is the safest horse to ride ever so will let him off;)

I do showing with all of mine. I have...
a forest bred New Forest pony
a mini Shettie
a New Forest x Exmoor
a Haflinger x Welsh
a Shettie x miniature horse and her 2 babies who both have a sec A sire.

I own one arab for general pratting about with, spending all my money on, hacking, taking out in the truck to random places and hopefully, one day, endurance. He's awesome tbf.

16.2/3hh 5yo DWBxISH. He was bought as a just backed 4yo for me to bring on for eventing and SJ, however we are having some issues with his jumping and he is a real scaredy cat. At the moment just concentrating on flatwork which is going well, have done le trec (he LOVED the endurance part!), local SJ and a HT which we just about got around lol. Will take it easy over the winter to keep him ticking over and then step it up a level next year when he's hopefully grown up a bit!

I have a 16.1hh 10 year old TB mare who I bought in April 2010. I feed her, muck her out, attend to her every whim, have vets fees that have put my credit cards to their limit, get her a regular (and very expensive) physio, get her a new £1200 saddle etc etc. She returns the favours by being a difficult, stressy, nappy evil cow......normally injured and occasionally lame.....I suspect retirement may not be too far away. but I love her anyway!

I also have a coloured NFxcob who is 3 and a half. We're currently slowly breaking her in and she is proving to be unfazed and a little gem. I wasn't going to break her in until next year, but she started to get bolshy and seems to want something to do. She loves to have her mind activated by something and appears to be enjoying the start of the ridden work but it will only be done slowly.

I have a 5yr old 14.3hh traditional cob. Does anything he's asked to inc hunting, jumping, dressage and a LOT of hacking. Stopped only by finances and facilities (linked to finances ;) ) Easiest, quietest horse, forwards without being fizzy, and frankly a bit boring (and not quite as big as I hoped) :o

I've therefore bought a 2yr old orange ISH (proper TB x ID) who's currently just being a lawnmower and growing (a lot). Meant to make 16.1hh. Currently standing at 16.0 and half an inch at 2.5yr old  Prone to running around like a lunatic and making a mess of my grass, but otherwise laidback, quiet and gentle.

I also have my lovely old black HW cob. 15.2/3 and the best horse in the world. So forwards and enthusiastic whilst being completely bombproof and sensible. We'd tried pretty much everything together and now she just pootles about hacking. She was what I was hoping to re-create when buying the first cob ( I wanted her again, in a coloured younger version).

Bit naughty posting in here... I share, so she isn't mine but I love to talk about her.

15.1 cob, black and white chunky girl.

We hack and school, I'm hoping to take her hunting when we are both fit enough! When I'm good enough maybe a bit of dressage. Had a good lesson tonight so feeling positive!

Ted is by a vanner out of a shire, and he wants to be a police horse when he grows up. He is only 17 months and likes playing with plastic bags, it's good training for wanna be police horses.

I have a tb who I don't do a lot with at the moment. Have done a couple of dressage tests. I want to try a bit of everything. He has done bs so has a hell of a lot of scope jumping.

i use him mainly for jumping and endurance but we've done pretty much everything
tipsy is a TB i've had for a few months, at the moment we're introduc[ing jumping and working on his flatwork hopefully to start eventing him eventually.

irish cob bought as a show working cob at 4 did workers very well tought to jump as he was just a show cob then hunted him as well chose hunting he hunts twice a week and jumps the moon and is very fast and can turn on a sixpence love him.

One cob mare, 15hh, has shown, jumped, evented, done low level endurance, wonderful at everything and is currently giving my friend her confidence back.
One TB mare, 15.2hh, currently having 'time out' as she is being a cow :D
One PBA mare, 14.3hh Advanced endurance with previous owner, showing me the ropes at present and she is an angel!

7 year old holsteiner gelding, mainly showjump with lots of schooling and hacking but did a bit of xc which he wasnt bad at. Now it seems his sole purpose is to keep my vets busy and well paid and me stressed :p

Mules...have fun! :D

I've always wanted a mule, they do look such fun!

I have a 7yr old arab that has done local showing classes as a baby, but we weren't very good - neither of us is very good at staying clean! And then wee local competitions at prelim dressage, SJ, endurance, jumpcross. I've not been brave enough to do XC, but maybe one day. And of course lots of charging through the woods or along the beach!
