What breed of horse do you have and why

A Welsh part bred. Because there's no love like that Welshy love!:D

^^this.

Oh and welshy hacks snort snort snort snort snort :D

I have a welsh x nf (my original pony)

and welsh x hackney (my project who is now staying put)

I have had a welsh x connie inbetween as well who I broke and sold. All have been v v welsh in nature, attitude and have the ability to live off fresh air, I dont "do" poor doers. lol

Welsh x NF

Oh and welshy hacks snort snort snort snort snort :D

this sums up my welshie hack yesterday! and she was in heaven when there was a big group of walkers, they magically glided out of her way making her feel powerful, tail flowing in the wind behind her...i didn't tell her it was them having common sense to move, didn't want to dent the welshie ego ;)

I own a Selle Français stallion and have ridden several other horses of the same breed in the past.
I am yet to meet a bad specimen. My boy is the most honest, generous, trainable and polite individual I have met. He is not like a stallion at all (although he has covered mares in the past) and is a dream both to ride and to handle. He has an incredible attitude to work - on a long rein he will plod happily looking around but pick up the reins and he becomes a proper dressage horse with his attention focused on the rider at all times. He is also not half bad looking:rolleyes: In fact, I always say that his inner beauty shines on his outside. Here he is:

Toby: Connemara x arab because i bred him and love him very dearly owned his mother 23 years and he is now 14
Skye: Clydesdale x warmblood 10yr old because i love and the breed and have owned quite a few Clydesdale x
Ellie: Clydesdale x warmblood 2yr old Skyes daughter
Fergus : Clydesdale x warmblood yearling Skyes son
Gemma: Clydesdale x warmblood filly foal Skyes daughter
Kalichia: bavarion warmblood 6yr old
Gino: warmblood colt foal Kalichia's son

I dont have a horse but i dream of having either Ardenne, Comtois or Percheron!!

I want something big and a weight carrier withough the giraffe legs. I would love a horse who is ploddy and loves cuddles but has a good work ethic. I dont need a horse to jump or to do dressage but i do want hairy rounded and gorgeous hores who turns heads. All three breeds fit the bill in my eyes :D

She used to be scared of sheep, well they graze freely on the downs so we have started sheep herding, its great to desenitise her. She thinks shes big and clever chasing off these horse eating sheep :D

My beautiful haflinger boy. Never loved an animal so much in my life. He can be a little pain in the bum sometimes. But he doesn't have a mallicious bone in his body, will do anything for me. And he really is incredibly clever.

This is him jumping in the clear round at the eventer trial, not me riding as I was injured. He'd never seen xc style jumps before but just popped over them. He made me incredibly proud. This is him jumping the skinny and water tray. Clever boy I think ;)

I have a sporthorse style TB, and I bought him because after looking at loads of knackers for the money I had available, he was the best I could afford. He is far too big, but a sweet guy.

We also have a 4yo cob gelding, purchased because my father was having some sort of moment of nostalgia for the working horses his grandfather had

Then to the rescues - One old tb broodmare, bought out of a field in foal and foal at foot, looking like a hat rack with severe scarring to her legs. She had wintered out without a rug or feed on the side of a mountain. I needed a turn out companion for my last horse and I felt so sorry for her! She now lives the good life, with my father dancing attention to her whims! Her foals have turned out to be nice coloured, but tbh I need someone to buy them! Then we have a hackney x filly, which we swapped a bale of silage for as it was standing about to keel over with starvation :( Now fat and sleek and in need of rehoming!

Oh, and a shetland, who is a complete rogue! He was in the same field as the mare, and he is perfect as a turnout pal for my 17hh monster in the winter.

I am far too soft for horse trading :o

I have a TB mare, she's an old lady who has done it all and has a wonderful temperament. I bought her as it was me or being sold on as a lesson horse and I really felt she deserved her last years with an owner (she's 20).
The yard I work at has mainly Morgans and I am really impressed with them, but aside from Missy (my girl) my heart belongs to their little Welsh Section C, Radar. He can be a nippy beast at times but is just such a fun zippy ride!

Thoroughbred!
It was the only way I could get a nice horse within my budget! :p
Generally I like TB's they are brave, clever, honest and sensitive.

I have a welsh cob and he is lovely, but i was looking for a coloured cob, could buy a tin of paint i suppose!
I love anything with patches or spots, but i used to ride two ID horses and love them too! I also like natives.

I own a british bred hanovarian because i wanted to continue my own love of dressage and simply fell in love with her as an unbroken 3 year old

Now at 9, we are achieving our dreams :D

I have Shetlands - purely because they are awesome! They are such characters, hardly and are generally good fun. And the foals are so sweet. The other plus side is that if they refuse to go anywhere you can literally pick them up and chuck them! :D

I have a Dartmoor because I was fed up of standing in line in the show ring and the girls on Dartmoors next to me saying variations of - We're better riders than you as we have bigger ponies - despite the fact that I well and truly beat them every single time I was against them. So I got myself a bigger and better Dartmoor. No other reason than I just wanted something bigger and better :D

The Welsh D my mum wanted. He is cool. Such a sweet tempreent you would rarely notice he was still entire. In time he will be broken to ride.

Then you get the 4 TB's. I brought 3 home from work (the 3rd one is arriving here on Friday) as I rode them at work and they were always destined to come home to me. The 4th I got from another trainer so I had something to ride and show as Jeff broke. They are such intelligent animals as they offer you unconditional love. Once home and mingling with the Shetlands they soon turn into semi-feral native ponies lol.

I like intelligent horses and couldn't have anything with less than the full shilling.

Have always had tbs, just love 'em! Tried a Welsh D once, couldn't get rid quick enough.

Tbs are honest, loyal and try 'till they drop - but you have to be tuned into them!

I've got 4, one supposed to be connie x arab, turned out to be mainly arab with a 1/4 section A, her son who is by an WB with a dash of ID, a yearling out of a section D by a LW coloured, and a small fat ponycob who is strongly suspected to be out of a section D by a spotty cob.

I swore never to have another welsh or anything with welsh in it after the last one damn near killed me, not his fault, but it turned me off welshies for life! And then I end up with 4 more, all welsh to some degree :D My 2 favourites are the ones with the most welsh. Guess I'm just destined to be surrounded by welsh part breds, could be worse, at least no actual section Ds snuck in :D

I have an Anglo-Arab, because when I tried him, he was just perfect!

(yes, I know strapless top, this was about 2 weeks before my wedding and I didn't want any strap marks!)

A few weeks ago I bought an Andalusian colt, because I have always wanted an Iberian horse, and the opportunity presented itself, :D

I have a pure overgrown Connemara :) Lovely attitude, hardy, always eager to please but intelligent and can be cheeky, and also brave I've found. I wasn't specifically looking for a Connie, but I've always liked them as a breed, and I fell in love when I viewed him xx

I have 2 Cleveland Bay Mares.
Because they are honest, and sensible and you can see through their food orientated minds in a second!!! ;)

Not competing but I have five pure CB's and one Shagya Arab x CB who I bred myself.

Totally agree with you. They are the best, not just honest and sensible but affectionate. They are versatile hacks, carriage horses, hunters etc. A horse that will give you lots of fun and is not high maintenance.

I have an Irish Draught X T/B, came across her by chance after I lost my old chap. No one else wanted her, she is calm sensitive kind quick to learn and most of the things that the breed in known for. The best find ever I really did not know much about the breed untill I got her.Now I would not have anything else.

I have a 17.2 Belgium Warmblood - we came together purely by accident, it wasn't a breed I set out to get. However, they are very giving and graceful breed but do lack sometimes in the brain department, hence I understand why they are called "dumb bloods". I would ideally like a 15h Cob X next time - yes completely opposite to what I have now, but warmbloods are delicate and fine little (well really big!) souls and always have to be wrapped up in cotton wool to keep them healthy and fit.

I've got 2 dales ponies. Theyre a brilliant breed lots of personality, friendly, willing to turn a hoof to anything and will try all day long for you.
When I first started riding Oz my sister had just backed him and Id completely lost my confidence to the point I shook in terror at the thought of getting on anything. I started just sitting on Oz with sister holding him then moved to being led to being lunged and finally on my own. 3 years later I've done everything from novice dressage, county showing to a small hunter trial with him and Im now backing another dales myself who is a little sharper than Oz is but no less loving or willing.
So it definately dales all the way for me.

I have a Holstein I hadn't come across one before but was keen on having a warmblood. He is very pretty and very talented but very clever and opinionated.

I have also always wanted a PRE.

KWPN, who is wild, cheeky, naughty and I just love riding him, even though he does like to try and kill us, but beautiful and easy going to handle.

Also an ISH who is a perfect gent to ride, safe as houses, but a bolshy sod to handle.

wow! what a stunner

I have a registered Lusitano part bred - god knows why I bought him, I have been asking myself the same question for the last 7 years!!! :( He is the most complex, quirky little horse with so many issues but he is a great little guy to have around!! :) :) I really wanted a 15.2hh Irish horse, total contrast!!
