I got up there earlier than usual so that I could poo pick a couple of paddocks before turning out. Then mucked out two stables, made up hay and feeds for my youngster, his companion, and my share horse. Even got to ride for a bit!

Rather productive day, imo...:)
 
Very productive! I went up and hacked one and schooled the other, mucked out, did all waters and made feeds. Went out for lunch with a livery, took the dog for a massive walk then brought the beasts back in, did their feet then fed and put them to bed! Currently on the sofa thinking of all the jobs I have to do round the house now.... :(
 
I was going to ride, but it was soooooo wet and windy I chickened out. So i put The Boy out in his brand new (gifted) Mark Todd Medium Weight light blue full neck turnout (he's just been clipped), and wish I'd taken a photo.

By the time he came in tonight, light blue was brown. Urgh, it did look so nice too. :D
 
I'm so jealous of everyone, even the poo picking sounds more fun than being stuck on the sofa! Shysmum I know how you feel - it seems like they make a special effort to get them extra filthy :P
 
I'm another that went up to ride and then wussed out. Instead I brought H in, gave him a long groom and then thoroughly cleaned his bum and tail as the new haylage has made him a tad squitty…poor boy! And to think someone the other day took one look at my hands and said "well you clearly don't get your hands dirty very often!", if only they knew.
 
Well, intended to hack one out but after mucking out two stables, bringing in lots of haylage from big bale, grooming, etc I ran out of time. Happy though that they are both in as it's now chucking it down and is in for the weekend. Will try and ride tomorrow morning....... then go up later in the day to put in - and try and fit in the rest of my Christmas Shopping......
 
Got completely soaked trying to move electric fences in gale force wind and driving rain! Came home for an hour or two and then got soaked a second time bringing them in! Remind me why I do it :D Oh I know because I love them!
 
Very unproductive in the way of horses today, have been stuck at work and by the time I got back it was howling gales and heavy rain! Just putting on my many layers so that I can brave the outdoors to do feeds and bring them in.. can't wait!
 
Not really the yard cos it's outside my back door, but turned Lucy (youngster) out with a net of haylage and put haylage out for Dancer (oldie), fed chickens/ducks/goats and then headed off for some last minute Christmas goodie shopping with family. Arrived back about 4pm (knackered) and then mucked out Lucy's stable, took a delivery of more haylage and straw (so I won't be stuck over the holidays). By this time Lucy was clamouring to come in (because a drop of Irish rain had fallen on her fluffy, connie winter coat) so brought her in and fed her. Fed Dancer (thoroughbred) who laughs in the face of rain and thinks Lucy is a total wimp. Fed chickens/goats/ducks ....
 
Got very muddy making the horses not muddy, had a quick school, got a bit more muddy trudging through the flooded paddocks putting fencing back up, then hayed which got stuck to said mud, then washed some fox poo off the dog and went home :D
 
Went up the yard and mucked out, made nets, filled water and groomed then friend and i went for a trot up the road and trotted back again because it was so wet and windy we thought we would get blown off if we went over the air field!! then ate cake and biscuits in the kitchen with all the liveries as a good bye party for the girl who works at the yard as it was her last day!
now sat on the sofa catching up on the Shwmae drama and just finished watching Olympia!
 
Reg went out to the holiday field, where he'll stay for the next week keeping donks and chums company. He did his customary "I was a racehorse" laps, only to be matched for speed by a small and chubby donkey.
 
Got a call from the neighbour. A pony'd managed to break a fence-post and jump the wire :(
Bless, he'd no intention of going anywhere, was grazing just outside the field. I'd have had more trouble catching a wheelie bin.

Thanked the neighbour, fixed up the fence, checked the rest, and the sluices. Confirmed that our oldy was comfortable and warm under his rug, and spent 20 minutes snogging and scratching the two colts before heading home to see the in-laws for xmas.
 
I had a jumping lesson this morning, it's terrible weather but lucky we have a indoor school.

I think both horse and rider did a good job so I'm feeling chuft
 
The bare minimum as I've been ill for a few days and have very little energy. Did go for a hack but was exhausted before I got on and after a few strides of trot I felt like I'd ran a marathon :( was supposed to be competing tomorrow but there's no point even attempting it now!
 
Did all chores inc poo-picking, stables, hay-nets for the week ahead, feeds, topped up water tanks, rode briskly in the wind & rain for an hour & back home before 10.
Back this afternoon to do mine & also 3 of the neighbours as they went to Olympia.

Job done, now for dinner :)
 
Absolutely nothing. Two horses on 6 acres so the poo picking can wait until it dries up a bit. Girls were practically asleep leaning on each other under the tree, paid not attention to me, the grass or the hay, it was sideways rain and they were out if it under the tree so intent on staying there.

Report from helper late this afternoon, girls have eaten loads of hay, but are back together under the tree.

I absolutely love them "roughing it" like this because THEY are loving it so much.
 
Heres a run down.

Ran down 10 mins before work, found Kyra with a blood red muzzle.
Freak out.
Check teeth and gums. Find nothing.
Have alittle cry.
Check rest of body. Find nothing.
Realise its the reminants of a salt lick.
Swear at horse for worrying you.
Leave for work.
 
Had a right good mucking out and grooming session....trimmed the Arabs face for the first time EVER with the electric trimmers and he was really good...I don't clip mine, but his hairy chin was getting on my nerves and getting in the way of the noseband so he had a tidy up. Took five mins from freak out to standing quietly getting trimmed. Well chuffed.
Then picked some flakes off the highlands willy.
Well..you did ask ;)
 
Cleaned out stable, got rid of dirty deep litter( not doing deep litter again sasha a messy mare!)
Then drove the lorry with two in it to our Xmas fields, then two more in another trip, watched them hoon about in field, 8 of them, then went back to yard, got all tack and numnahs in car, went home and washed and cleaned everything... They are on holiday now till 3 rd jan.
 
Did all my jobs and then had a lesson. I was hoping that hubby had finished all the housework by the time I got back but he was in the middle of a deep clean so I had to join in! Then we took the dogs for a 2 hours walk, and brought all the horses in on the way back. I've done a bit of ironing and now I'm watching Harry potter with a glass of wine while the dogs are asleep in front of the wood burner. Shattered!
 
Went to yard ... 10 min drive ... Tacked up the hairy highland and schooled in indoor for about half an hour. Tidied up stable as he's in at night now, gave him his carrot ration and play ball to kick about, chatted to friend about her work issues in an effort to be helpful and sympathetic (I am both), rugged up pony for the night, came home, had a shower and cooked dinner. A pretty easy day compared to some.
 
I arrived, kissed the horse over the door while his owner gave him a good groom, gave him a couple of mints and a scratch.

Did up the front buckles of other horses rug whilst avoiding grumpy teeth.

Threw dinner in for horse.

Sat in tack room and cleaned two saddles and two bridles.

Went home.

I'd been at work all day so owner did them. I do them during the week though when she's at work.
 
Rode the TB in the foul weather this morning - horizontal rain and wind and a flash of lightning and then thunder at the highest hill of the ride. Bless her heart, she never put a foot wrong! Gave the native the day off, turned them out for a hour while I did the chores (weather has been foul here for well over a week now and fields are too flooded to leave out all day) and came home. Returned again tonight for quick skip out, feed and change nets.
