What do you just HATE to see?

And another thing. People who buy very expensive white breeches, several pairs of leather boots, top notch dressage saddles etc to knob about in when really their money would be better spent having lessons. Or stable management training.

And people who over-rug, decide the horse is too hot, clip it out then reduce the rugs and hay, then wonder why it looks like an RSPCA alarmist advert.

One more! People with no common sense. If you remove all the other horses in all the other fields, and my horse pops the 5 bar gate and presents herself at the yard gate in a flurry of skid marks and mud clots, she has done this for a reason. Learn from this!!!!

I like to hack on a loose rein if he is behaving as thats chill out time within reason, he is less spooky too and it does him good to learn to look after himself occasionally (was v insecure to start)

I hate seeing horses travelled with the top door of trailer open.

anyone on a road without hi viz on (was v dark here for ages this morning, so much that my instructor asked if we thought it was ever going to get light) cue to people on bay horses in black coats :s) I just cant see why not. amusingly we have posh dressage lady locally mum hacked out the other day and wound her horse up (hes black) as she had a canter up the drove on my cob as couldnt see she was at the top as it was very grey and throwing it down with rain.

Along with people who moan about how tragic a recent local death was then proceed to ride out on same stretch of road with no hi vis

am sure I have more

I dont enjoy SJ warm ups!

I've also thought of another one, I'm in a bad mood. People saying, in not so many words, "will anyone pay for the upkeep of my old, lame horse because I can only afford my young, healthy useful one?" FFS keep your own knackered horses or shoot them.

Also, wearing a hat but the strap not done up
confused.gif

My mate went to look at a horse, the woman trotted up to a jump, horse planted feet, she went head over heels and her hat flew off!!
WTF??
confused.gif

Why bother wearing it??

i also hate seeing spoilt lanky kids riding a string of far to small show ponies, yanking them in the mouth to get an outline, tugging their heads in from left to right while giving all mighty kicks
mad.gif

Im in a filthy mood. Ive thought up more, less person-specific ones.

Ill fitted tack - especially (but not exclusively) bits and nosebands. Saddles too far forward/back, boots, and too-tight browbands also fall into this category.

I hate seeing people in jods and rubber boots at major equestrian events.

I hate seing horses with a dustbin full of hard feed and one slice of hay to last them 16 hours.

I also hate to see terriers running on three legs.
smile.gif

Hate seeing headcollars dangling on the ground, with the rope still tied up - whilst people are out riding.
People tying horses up round their necks.
Leaving crud around the yard - like shavings from hooves, hoof pickings, buckets and brushes.
Using my stuff and not putting it back, get your own stuff!!
Horses who don't walk out. Eughhh, having to drag a horse along when you are bringing it in from the field. Damn well walk on.
People using their hands as their balance.

Multiple other things!!
People lacking in common sense . .

I hate seeing horses taken out of their box first thing in the morning after spending a night with inadequate hay, tied up for hours without a small haynet whilst their owner gossips/whines/drinks coffee.

I had forgotten that about livery yards - seen it so often in the past - some people are so uncaring to their horses.

Like coming back from a long hard ride and not offering water, but hosing it off then going off to drink tea leaving horse tied on the yard for half an hour!
frown.gif

Owners who pay good money for a vet's advice ...outcome =box rest. Then owner say 'the vet doesn't know my horse, it's not fair to keep him' (ie i'd rather not muck out and pay for ad lib hay). So turns horse out to gallop around and then end result is the horse PTS... and still expect sympathy. grrr.

I have more too........

People not putting the school back how they found it - jumps up and poo everywhere

Not clearing up their section of the yard so there is hay, hoof pickings etc everywhere.

Letting their dogs run loose round the yard and then not clearing up their crap.

Not locking the tack room and leaving all the yard lights on.

What did their last slave die of??

ooooh,
children who prance round the warm up doing 80cm+ then go into the lead rein classes!

tubtrug buckets filled to the top with hard feed and shocked owners wondering how precious got colic.

haynets hanging so low they hit the floor-at least five precious a sporting chance of survival by using a small holed haynet.

people who think it is ok for precious puppy to nip at MY ponies heels and say its ok he's only playing. WELL GUESS WHAT? Pony was only playing when he sent PP into orbit!!!!

many many more but I'll give someone else a fair chance!

i hate it when your hacking and when people drive past or are on the side coming towards you, they think that horses are just emotionless machines who have no fear and just basically are vehicles to take you from a to b. its hard to explain but i was walking through a village the other day with my 4yr old and there were 2 boys bouncing on a trampoline and my horse wouldnt pass, they were too far away for me to shout to ask if they'd stop and all they were doing were bouncing higher making more of a racked shouting 'horsey horsey' whilst their mother looked on.

And another thing that annoys me is people who think its cool to have loose rains and try to make their horse spook/ mess around just to say kinda' wwwww look at me im on an uncontrolable horse, arnt i cool. wouldnt u like to be like me?'.. sorry rant over lol

ok the big one

fat overweight horses

in particular when they are then expected to showjump/hunter trial or ODE.

but that people still think they are fit cos they are ridden every day in walk and ask why they are twice the size of mine.

oh and another...I absolutly nearly go siick with confusion when i see riders go to a busy event with horses AND take their bloody dogs!! Ok fair enough if your having a day out and have one horse and loads of handlers, but when like, its just you and your OH, dont take 3 horses and about 3 dogs aswell!! and then complain you havnt got enough time to warm up your horse because you've been taking your poxy terriers for a 'short' fancy walk around the show ground in your best wear...Leave the mutts at home!!!

Asides from most of the above - which I hate to see, the main thing that 'gets me' are the sad cases on
Fugly Horse of the Day. (and, of course the poor buggers in this country/europe etc)

All the back yard breeders that feature, all the horses that aren't given a chance and are sent to auction for the meat man etc.

Its just so sad.

Ooops thats that thread killed, sorry guys.

Oh no, I have another!!!

Obese ponies. There are two just down from my yard - a welsh youngster who is just so fat I doubt it can physically carry any more weight, and a Shetland who has been in the same (wonky) rug for weeks now despite the very mild sunny days (and mild nights). They were in a tiny electric fenced section of cattle grazing (with no water) and broke that down due to the absence of any energiser, so now are grazing a large expanse of long, rich grass. They do have water though I suppose which is the only plus point.

A flash/grackle isn't to stop the horse going forward. They are to prevent the horse opening their mouth or crossing their jaw. So why not wear them with spurs???

people with their horses gobs strapped shut and harsh bits and spurs on and then kicking and socking said horse in mouth constantly and moaning when they buck...
people riding incorrectly in gadgets and roulkuring their horses.
people riding lame horse
people over feeding and under exercising their horses
people yanking their horse in the mouth while asking for canter..

erm there is lots more but i should be doing some work right now!lol

For me, it's people leaving their reins dangling and their horse left to mooch about picking at stuff on the ground. I positively CRINGE. That, and the same with dangling lead ropes.

OOOh dear this has certainly "opened a can of worms" with me!,

Now let me see, what else, ........Oh yes............
I hate Dressage instructors who refuse to wear hats in the sandschool and for photoshoots of horses they have for sale, and riding instructors who are too "posh?" to wear Hi-Vis gear on the country lanes when hacking their very nice quality horses.

WOULD you really want a lesson with an instructor that DOESN`T THINK THATS IMPORTANT?

This may upset some people but, - I am not too keen on young men, of a certain sexual persuasion, that bully horses into an outline, wearing very tight jods on long legs and very expensive boots with huge spurs, and dismiss everything that fights back, as having something wrong with it, mentally or physically!!!

I ll be in trouble now I think...........
smile.gif

Riders of horses that kick who put a ribbon on their tail and then think its okay to enter a crowded arena at a competition/gateway out hunting etc and expect to be given space... if your horses kicks it is YOUR responsibility to keep it out of everyone elses way
