I've also thought of another one, I'm in a bad mood. People saying, in not so many words, "will anyone pay for the upkeep of my old, lame horse because I can only afford my young, healthy useful one?" FFS keep your own knackered horses or shoot them.

Ooooh... is that in reponse the a post I just read? Afraid I have to agree. Keep 'em or have them kindly PTS.
can I also add, as this thread is titled what do you HATE to see and not equine specific.........
Ladies in spaghetti tops with armpits hairier than my horses!!
Get the Wolsleys out love and at least have a trace clip for Cods sake!
People who refuse to believe that my horse is sound and happy- he just doesn't move particularly well. Bet hey, he's 25, with a very chequered past who's done it all at least a million times, he's not really going to move like my sister's horse who is only 9. And, I do know how to ride him, it's just very difficult to ride a horse in a dressage test who is throwing all his toys before you've even entered the arena.
Btw, re the box rest. We felt it was safer to make a little pen for our pony in her field after she attempted to jump her stable door, before doing a rather impressive gallop on a 10m circle...
Well, this is going well, then. Glad I popped back
Just pleasantly light and vicious though, guys, I kind of take it as read that we all hate abuse and cruelty. This is just about that thing that just gets to YOU.
Another of mine is mothers who are convinced their 13 year old who has, to be sure, outgrown her 13.2hh, actually needs a 16.3hh event horse, because her all school chums have them.
It frightens the life out of me, they have neither the skills nor the strength to cope with these whacking great horses, and they are also missing out on all the fun of their childhood.
When I were a lass (yawn) we stayed on 14.2s to the very very last minute - some of the lads were tall, and still hanging on to that last chance to compete in ponies - and it was a hooley, it was such good FUN.
So yeh, kids on huge horses, way before they need to be.
I've got a very simple one that makes me mad. People on the yard with me who insist on feeding my horses treats, even when I've asked them not to.
"It's OK, it's herbal"
"It's only once in a while"
"I don't want him to feel left out"
"Oh, they looked sorry for themselves"
None of the above are acceptable reasons. Do I feed their bl**dy kids sweets and E numbers? (Not yet I don't, but that could change...).

Good point! To that end I also HATE to see a thong above a persons trousers (probably accidental but trashy anyway!) and those bl**dy awful plastic bra straps that are meant to be invisible (gag!)
Hmm I may have wandered in to something I don't quite understand
But - the thing that makes me cringe (now that I have the horses at home so don't have all the livery ones to agree to!) is when people pull stirrups down by just hauling on the stirrup iron. Noooooooo - first take the leathers out from where you neatly tucked them in, then lift the stirrups slightly and ease them down the leathers
The noise of a stirrup scraping against the leather is like nails on a blackboard to me

Yes I know, I'm weird

Well..... MY hate is seeing people (esp overweight on non-weight carrying horses) going cross country where they sit on their arse the whole way round and expect the poor horse to be able to haul them over the fences!! For god's sake get your stirrups up abd get out of the saddle!!
I also hate (at SJ events) riders bollocking/hitting the living crap out of their horses for refusing a fence when it was blatantly rider error!!!! Makes my blood boil. However, generally good old karma steps in and sees them dumped on their arse at some point! Lol (still bet the poor horse gets it in the neck!)
Seeing a poor horse on my way home everyday that is thethered alone in a huge field. It always looks so sad. I wan't rescue it
Other pet hate is seeing horses in field full of ragwort! BAD BAD BAD!!! There are three horses (One foal) in a field at the moment which is riddled with the stuff. It is all brown and dying, but isn't it still poisonous? Can I do anything?
Ok, people who attend events such as HOYS-i.e indoor and of an evening and turn up in jods and boots. We know your horsey thats whay you are at HOYS at least make an effort and wear something other than your stinky jods and crap covered boots!
I admit I ride when hacking (unless going fast) on a long rein, it's time for my Mare to chill out and this way she can relax, spooks less because of it and just enjoy her ride and the scenery.
But things I hate is; Horses in stables with no hay, Horses getting no turnout, horses not warmed up or cooled down, horses blamed for everything and called 'stupid' when in fact it is the 'stupid' owners for not knowing, making the effort to learn or admit they are wrong! Horses smacked or hit for daring to move whilst being tied up (I mean, we all need to shift weight!)
